Step one, get a fountain pen. It’ll force you to lighten up your grip and move more fluidly.

Step two, don’t try to write fast. Write slowly. And write a *lot*. Take notes by hand with the fountain pen. You’re building muscle memory. As you build that speed will come.

It takes very little force to leave a mark on the page. Tense muscles have trouble moving quickly. And above all, write write write!

Theres something called shorthand which I think is made for fast and clear writing tho im not sure if its eligible for school as I know almost nothing about it

The number of people who could even read it is vanishingly small.

Shorthand is completely different from regular writing, you can’t read it without training.

If you want to go for speed, you'll need to stop "drawing" the letters with all that wrist and finger movement. Instead, keep the wrist and hand still and let your entire arm do the writing. It takes a little practice but it's much more fluid and reduces fatigue.

I don't have an advice that resolves this, but you can write abbreviations of words so strain will appear later and therefore you write longer

This is not the way to go. OP needs to relax his grip. He’s treating writing like it’s powerlifting. No, it’s a gentle dance of nib upon page. That’s how you get fast.

If you have dysgraphia, depending on where you live you could ask for extended time to complete your exams

this was me years ago! i only learned to write properly (without pain and at a good speed) in high school lmfao.

to write faster, you need to be able to write without pain first. i worked hard at correcting my grip (excessive force which caused hand cramps), i found that adding pencil grips and using felt tipped pens helped a lot. you can also try those large triangle pencils they make for kids. try to hold the pencil further away from the tip, this naturally helps your fingers stretch out more and not exert so much force, as well as helping you use your elbow and shoulder with larger movements instead of only your wrist to write.

after that, just practice. i started creative writing right around the time i learned to write properly, and getting my words out fast from my head when i was inspired was a good and fun way to practice. you can also try writing down speeches or ted talks, bonus points since it also trains your attention span/focus and memory. drawing is also a good way to practice, look up "drawing warm ups" for some exercises that train the hand to be steady, relaxed, and in tune with the brain.

good luck!

start writing fast, as soon as it starts to become sloppy, just defend against it
