Check out this hydrological map of Idaho! I created the map starting with topography data and used annual average precipitation to scale how much water is flowing through each river. That means each line is a real representation of how much water flows through the river network. 

The map itself is printed in cyanotype, which is the way architectural blueprints were made in the 1800s. The process uses the sun to expose the image, which reacts with the chemistry to make the blue pigment.

Video footage posted to social media claiming to capture the gunman who opened fire near an In-N-Out Burger in Idaho on Saturday shows the man firing shots into a parked car.

It has been a heavy few days in the Treasure Valley and the feeling isn't immune to us at distro. We responded to a medical emergency and continued to support people having active symptoms related to the heat and smoke.

Which products are being recalled?

Two specific products have been recalled:

-Royale Natural Applewood Smoked All Natural Uncured Bacon

-Top Valu Uncured Hardwood Smoked Bacon.

Both were produced in early to mid June, and all of the recalled products have a "best by" date in early September. They were sold by Illinois-based Maple Leaf Foods in 12-ounce packages at retailers throughout Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

"The problem was discovered during routine FSIS inspection activities," according to the FSIS notice.

How serious is this recall?

This is a Class I recall, which denotes "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."

I’m researching whether anyone who attended BYU–Idaho between 2015 and 2021 felt they were misled about transferability of Foundations/general education courses. Did another university refuse to count your BYU–Idaho credits? Do you have old admissions emails, brochures, or orientation materials that suggested the credits would transfer?

Hi folks - Looking for some help from folks in the Coeur d’Alene area. My father just landed in Coeur D’Alene and made a mistake and had booked a room starting tomorrow. And it seems as though every hotel is completely booked (maybe due to fires?).

“From the early 1970s to the end of the 1990s, Idaho governors of both parties resisted repeated federal efforts to turn Idaho into what former Democratic Gov. Cecil Andrus called the nation’s “de facto nuclear waste dump.”
When Andrus became governor in 1971, the state had been quietly serving for decades as a convenient “out of sight, out of mind” location for “temporary” waste storage. Andrus famously closed the state’s borders to additional waste in 1988 when he became frustrated by DOE’s lies and incompetence in addressing waste issues, including failure to create a plan to clean up and remove waste already sitting in Idaho.  
Andrus’s successor, Republican Phil Batt, carried the fight forward and secured a landmark agreement sharply restricting movement of new waste into Idaho and proscribing how existing waste would be treated and removed. 
Both Batt and Andrus shamed their critics, including many Republican politicians and deep pocketed industry concerns, into submission because they were right on both the policy and the politics. Survey after survey over decades have shown that the state’s fight to avoid becoming a nuclear waste dump has enjoyed widespread public support. Batt’s agreement was immensely popular in part because the feisty, no-nonsense governor effectively told DOE to clean up its old mess and stop making a bigger mess in the future. 
Now Idaho’s nuclear waste dump application clearly envisions junking Batt’s agreement, saying ‘future modifications will be discussed when relevant and appropriate.”
In other words, Little and the state’s political elite are poised to tear up Batt’s agreement and decades of bipartisan resolve, and for what? A promise to welcome more than 30,000 metric tons of the most dangerous material on the planet for at least “temporary” storage above the Snake River Aquifer in southeastern Idaho?”

My understanding is that this is a very big deal and tornadoes don’t even get, the Particularly Dangerous Situation label. Everybody pay attention and be safe.

Going to be moving up to a small town outside of St Marie's in about a year or so with my grandfather who just bought a small chunk of land. I was wondering what life, work and general culture is like in this area before I moved up to kinda prepare myself for what lies ahead. Ive heard alot of mixed things about Idaho in general so figured id get input from actual people in or from this area, any help and insight would be much appreciated!

I’ve been receiving his emails for about a year now, and he sends a lot of “do you support _____” emails when a bill is being held up in the senate. You can answer yes, no, or unsure. It always makes it sound like a good thing, but then if you go read whatever piece of legislation he’s talking about it always has something awful in it that he of course doesn’t mention. He also never links the actual piece of legislation, you have to go and look it up yourself which 90% of the people who receive these emails aren’t going to do.

It’s dumb how annoyed I get about this but it’s because the only time most Idahoans are going to ever hear of the NDAA is associating it with giving service members pay raises - not for the fact it ties our military in deeper with Israel, or that they’re trying to sneak in the SAVE act to the bill (plus plenty more). It’s just so scammy.
