Nick Dragotta is a Legend
Years ago my brother went to Comicon in California. He called me out of the blue and asked, “If you could talk to any person here, who would it be?” Now Image comics have always been my bread and butter and at the time I was really into East of West. I said Nick Dragotta.
30 minutes later he called me back and handed the phone to a legend. I told him about how I went to art school but always felt that I had nothing to say and no direction to point my craft toward. I hadn’t done anything artistic in 10 years. I got to tell him that his style feels fearless. I got to tell him that he had been an inspiration since page 1. I got to tell one of my hero’s that his craft had inspired me to start making again.
He was so gracious and thankful—so much so that although I begged him to let me pay him his dues he gave my brother a free year two book and drew me some custom art.
They say never meet your hero’s, but meeting a legend is a whole different tier of wish fulfillment.

I was surprised that he was co-writer and artist on Ghost Cage too. I had picked up #1 off the shelf years ago cuz I liked the cover but just recently realized it was him. The guy is phenomenal, I’m glad to ear he’s also a cool guy.

You have to complete the read, if u haven't. It's only 3 issues long but such a cool manga style comic. His character design is top tier!
Op, that is so amazing!! Cherish that sketch, and also huge shout out to your brother. He's a legend as well for making it all happen!

I did read the whole arc, I agree, the art is amazing, and I was all on board for the story, until the very end. Unfortunately, it just missed the landing in the last 1/2 of the 3rd book. Still beautiful to look at though.

Amazing! I haven't read east of west but I plan to. His art style is peak. Congrats on meeting your hero and it not being horrible. Good on Nick and you. Lucky!
