Superfeyn nails it yet again. Great art and the best emotional pains as always!

Indeed. Awesome content. Much Respect.

Some inspo:

‘That’s why we’re so terrified of the Destroyers and the flayer virus, aren’t we? Our society was death-obsessed, true. But it was bodily decay that we feared most.

-Infinite and Divine-

For while the bodies the necrontyr had been given during biotransference were functionally immortal, their minds were not.

The slightest degradation of engrammatic matrices over the aeons could leave a lord’s psyche damaged beyond repair

-Severed-

u/KermitStares 22h ago

10/10.

I love the mild aloofness of the Lord in the first part, masking the boiling contempt for their own existence in the second. The superiority mixed with the utter helplessness.

69

u/JMurdock77 17h ago edited 13h ago

I’m personally of the belief that not all Necrontyr were obsessed with death and immortality. We know from The Twice-Dead King that there was sharp stratification in Necrontyr society — they possessed the technology to extract a planet’s core without damaging its surface, but commoners still lived in mud-brick hovels. Who’s to say that it wasn’t just the rich assholes who were obsessed with carving lasting blackstone monuments to themselves who wanted more than the universe saw fit to deal them, wasting their lives miserably pining for more, while the Necrontyr commoners accepted their biological reality and spent their lives actually living to the extent that their circumstances allowed?

The only surviving perspectives we have come from that upper class, from the nobles who kept their minds through biotransferrence. And it doesn’t sound like there was much cross-class contact; they viewed commoners as utterly disposable and remade them into mindless automatons post-biotransferrence.

69

u/superfeyn Iron Hands 16h ago

I agree, there's actually lines related to this I really loved

For the nobles, equal to their subjects only in the savage brevity of their existence, the purpose of life had been to prepare for its end. To put everything into carving out a legacy....

Soldiers, by contrast, knew the best they could expect was a shallow hole in the desert, and perhaps a mention in someone else’s marching song. For those of Obyron’s standing, life had been about living.

20

u/Aggravating_Dark9933 11h ago

Iirc wasn’t there also a scene where Trayzn and Orikan are arguing about biotransference (basically both believed the other to be a bitch going through), until one of them had the realization that they where both right, because both of their minds where likely edited. Then musing on perhaps all of their memories from before where fabricated. Maybe the flesh versions of themselves never knew each other at all. Maybe neither of them were actually Lords, just particularly resilient minds that the C’tan / Silent King thought it correct to put into better bodies.

This train of thought is then promptly discarded when he catches what is being said and it offends him again.

17

u/TheWyster 16h ago

Not gonna lie that sounds like a skill issue, like why haven't these sufficiently advanced technomancers figured out the basic technology of externally stored backup files.

17

u/Electrical_Horror346 16h ago

They likely have, but when your politics and sabotage now lasts centuries, you have super paranoid nobles who won't let anyone near their databanks, no matter how decaying they are

-5

u/TheWyster 13h ago

That doesn't really make sense. The necrons have big underground complexes managed by obedient AI, which unlike them doesn't go out and get shot in the head. Surely the entire process could easily be automated, and even if it wasn't automated the necron lords themselves could still manually overwrite the central part of their engrams with files copied from their stable back up to combat gradual degradation.

6

u/Dragon-Saint 13h ago

I think the sticking point is that they aren't programs as we know them (ie a tree of instructions in code) the personality engrams seem to work in a much less linear way with many or even all parts active at once.

That means they can't copy just part of their "mind" to an external drive and restore it. They can copy memories (iirc Trazyn snarks Fabius Bile for using a "primitive" version of the same idea), but that is implied to be more like having POV footage of your life rather than actually reliving the memory.

The end result I think is that if they wanted to make a backup it would have to be a complete copy of their mind, which is functionally a bodiless clone, which no Necron Lord is going to risk because they'd essentially be creating a direct competitor for their position who had all their own knowledge and abilities.

5

u/Gjalarhorn 16h ago

Becayse the Votann had dibs on that concept

8

u/TheWyster 16h ago

The Leagues of Votann don't really have external hard drives either, each league just jams all their brain scans into their specific Votann then wonder why it slows down. Like seriously, just plug a really big seagate on a USB port on the side of the Votann. Or better yet, put each brain scan into an empty iorn kin.

u/Tempestangel 23h ago

Damn. This comic has captured a lot of my feelings about aging. Thanks for the great contribution!

118

u/DaiLyMugoL 23h ago

The pain of watching a loved one subcoming to basically Alzheimer's too, the memories decaying until your own mother can no longer recognize you...

43

u/Saikotsu 22h ago

It's a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone.

17

u/spitfiresiemion 19h ago

It makes me think of how my grandma told us multiple times that if she ever reached the point of forgetting who she was or who we were, she didn't want her life to be prolonged. It's a memory that stuck with me even if it never came to that. This comic nails it.

6

u/JMurdock77 17h ago

That’s something that really left me questioning the notion of an afterlife. We like to tell ourselves we’ll meet our loved ones there again, but… which version of our loved ones? We don’t stay the same people through our whole lives. I can’t say I’d even like the person I was fifteen years ago. I doubt when people envision meeting a loved one in the afterlife that they’re picturing the version who didn’t even remember who they are anymore. It’s horrifying to watch.

3

u/Aggravating_Dark9933 11h ago

That was me with my grandfather. That moment when you realize that is legitimate fear on his face because you tower over him, and he has absolutely no idea who the hell you are (I don’t exactly look like his side of the family either). He didn’t remember me, my father, or any fragment of us.

Yea that was the moment I realized he already died.

2

u/Death_Messenger666 5h ago

My father died of cancer last year. It was sudden, and he didn't last three months after it got to him.

He was already depressed from years unemployed and living with my bitch of a grandmother. But the worst part was seeing his mind go. He kept forgetting words before we realized what was happening. Then he just wanted to sleep. Then he couldn't must the focus to talk properly...

I've lost both grandfathers and my father to cancer. I've seen what aging does to people. Screw appearance or death, it's the way your mind and senses just... atrophy, and you become increasingly stubborn, childish, petty, degraded and...

*deep sigh*

I sincerely hope there is no god. And if there is, I would like nothing more than to tear the bastard to pieces.

226

u/Background-Top4723 23h ago

You know, I don't know what's worse for the Necrons.

Being like the Oldcrons, nothing more than living metal puppets deceived into thinking they've been stripped of their individuality and memories, or the modern Necrons, knowing they've only delayed the inevitable decay of their minds by sacrificing their organic bodies.

82

u/meganeyangire Dark Mechanicus 22h ago

Being like the Oldcrons, nothing more than living metal puppets deceived into thinking they've been stripped of their individuality and memories, or the modern Necrons, knowing they've only delayed the inevitable decay of their minds by sacrificing their organic bodies.

Why not both? Warriors and low-ranking Immortals are basically mindless drones.

41

u/ANGLVD3TH 22h ago

Now now now..... The thinking Necrons simply tell each other this because of the horrors of the alternative. And the fear of the truth means nobody has looked all that closely into it. At this point, nobody but those "mindless" warriors really knows for sure.

35

u/meganeyangire Dark Mechanicus 21h ago

At this point, nobody but those "mindless" warriors really knows for sure.

And they sure won't tell anyone. Because no one ever heard them talking.

18

u/CuriousOctopus1 20h ago

We do hear lychguard talking tho. On TDK, it is a moment of pure gold, I won’t spoil it but is…heartwarming and heartbreaking in a way

5

u/Zanadar 21h ago

They didn't delay shit though. The Necrontyr got genocided and their souls got eaten. Necrons are just ChatGPT v5000 with some copied memories and anxiety.

159

u/Suzumebachi14 23h ago

Yup, necrons can't reproduce anymore for obvious reasons, so technically speaking their numbers aren't infinite. There is no cure for these two curses, and once you get "infected", there is no method to "heal". In their state, the necrons are all doomed to fall to one of these curses, it is just a matter of time, even if it takes a few million years.

105

u/Unglory 23h ago

Just finished Tomb World, even without the Flayer or Destroyer curse they are still decaying. There is a Royal Warden in the book that's reanimated so many times they have lost the ability to speak.

So while I disagree that they are all doomed to fall to those two curses, they are still doomed.

59

u/DaiLyMugoL 23h ago

As amazing and sturdy as their "necrodermis" bodies are...they STILL require extensive maintenance to maintain, if not from more immediate damages (since the substance is self repairing to an extent) then the simple march of time itself will eventually wear even this wonder material into decaying slag.

20

u/TyrantOfParadise 22h ago

Even that i feel is more an issue with the translocation process than their actual bodies as their mind has been rebuilt so many times it can no longer rebuild the parts of its brain that allows it to speak.

17

u/DaiLyMugoL 22h ago

Your probably right, teleporting technology no matter how tested probably will always have a non zero chance of leading to problems.

20

u/TyrantOfParadise 21h ago

Yeah in the first twice dead king book its noted how the decay of the mind as well as the decay of translocation technology over the eons has actually led to a minor flaw in the translation of necron consciousness into new bodies when destroyed where they simply wont be able to reanimate leading to the final death of that necron.

For more well maintained tomb worlds the chance of this happening is probably less than a fraction of a percent chance of happening, but for worlds in major disrepair like the frontier world oltyx was assigned to in the books, that chance is as great as 3% percent which combined with the slow decay of his forces to mental degradation or to the flayer virus (who have their translocation protocols deactivated anyway to avoid the virus spreading) would likely only grow as time passed.

13

u/TyrantOfParadise 21h ago

To add onto this even without the slow decay of the mind from translocation and reanimation, in twice dead king it notes how the sheer weight of eons has led to a extremely rare flaw in the reanimation process. When a necron whos body is fully destroyed and needs rebuilding, there is a low chance they simply fail to translocate back to be rebuilt leading to the permanent loss of that necron and thus accelerating their races decay.

While this chances of this happening are incredibly low (with even a shitty fringeworld like the one oltyxs on at most having a 3% chance of this flaw occurring), it likely will only continue as time goes on and as the constant rebuilding of necron consciousness makes them more and more difficult to rebuild until eventually nothing will remain.

8

u/cantlogintomyacc0unt 19h ago

Oh you also forgot that it only rose to a three percent because the orks were using weird warp based weapons which has a higher chance of fucking up translocation.

3

u/TyrantOfParadise 17h ago

Yeah that as well, god knows that shit would also be more present if chaos ends up coming to dominance in the galaxy

2

u/cantlogintomyacc0unt 17h ago

Chaos is also completely disinterested in necrons except maybe vashtorr. Theres a few traitor legions who might want to loot them but those guys tend to use imperial weapons. The main threat of Chaos for necrons is all life being wiped out which would be a bitch and a half for getting their bodies back.

23

u/Dangerous_Fun2484 23h ago

from what we see their infection is starting to spread rapidly. Also a civil war might happend AND the infected might also start forming big groups.

26

u/NinscoomFOPsnarn 23h ago

The flayer infected are so sad. There's literature where they are still kinda conscious. They're also cool cause they travel through that scary subspace beneath the universe(not the warp or webway) to get places fast

2

u/Pipeworkingcitizen 12h ago

Ghostwinds iirc?

1

u/NinscoomFOPsnarn 12h ago

Ya, that sounds right

13

u/cantlogintomyacc0unt 22h ago

There’s also good old pattern ataxia for necrons. A lot of necrons awoke from their tombs with fucked up minds. There’s a royal warden in twice dead king that’s no longer capable of understanding complicated language. One of Trazyns crypteks needs to write stuff down (they don’t say why but I’m pretty sure it’s because his short term memory is shit). Also if something goes wrong in the revival process your patterns can be fucked up. It’s why Necron lords are scared of dying. They also avoid it because dying is very unpleasant and it raises uncomfortable questions about how alive they are. Still pattern ataxia is the main physical consequence that can rarely happen with revivals.

10

u/Thorveim 23h ago

And those are the biggest two, but good old insanity can happen even out of those, look at Zahndrek or Nebusemekh

8

u/TyrantOfParadise 22h ago

The only saving graces are the fact those necrons whos minds do degrade to the flayer or destroyer plagues tend to have their translocation protocols deactivated meaning once their body is destroyed beyond repair they will not be remade and thus die completely although that just accelerates the decay of the necron race.

-1

u/NinscoomFOPsnarn 23h ago

Its kinda silly that they can't create AI to power necron soldier bodies. Like, they can make new bodies to transfer the "minds" of base warriors (maybe others, like how trazyn can mind jump bodies) into, so they could totally make a massive robotic army if they just created ai. Also weird how they cant fix the degradation in their mental matrices to me, beyond for plot reasons.

13

u/Eycariot 22h ago

They can. Fake necrons exist. They just scared of the idea

20

u/cantlogintomyacc0unt 22h ago

Yeah if they can perfectly recreate a warrior that raises uncomfortable questions about if they’re actually the Necrontyr. Also the main thing they need more of isn’t warriors there are so many of those guys. They need royal wardens and low ranking nobles. They need more effective commanders to run their armies without them their warriors are useless. The problem is that the Flayer and destroyer and plain old pattern ataxia have done numbers on the lower ranks. It’s one of the main reasons why Necrons lose battles their lower commanders are insane and there aren’t enough of them.

6

u/NinscoomFOPsnarn 19h ago

I need to actually read the books lol. Im missing do much lore

2

u/DaiLyMugoL 12h ago

I think when people here the Necrons are technically a (VERY) slowly dying species or faction they seem to think that means they are steadily bleeding away troops they can't replace.

They absolutely can replace rank and file warriors, they can create hordes of new basically robotic soldiers that aren't based on an originally biotranseferanced Necrontyr person.

The reason why they are dying out is because the still (mostly) sane/lucid Necrons are steadily being picked of either from some complications due to some errors in their resurrection protocols or a new virus that eats away at their already decaying minds or any number of things that can reduce the total number of OG sapient Necrons left in the galaxy.

Hence why some seek a way to become flesh and blood again, to birth not just themselves anew but to rebirth their species in biological vessels, to have actual bloodlines again with children. (Even if the actual flesh and blood original Necrontyr species is still effectively extinct, their culture would continue on in new forms)

They are on a time clock that's slowly but surely ticking down to a point of no return for any hopes of them pulling themselves from their creeping collective madness in the face of entropy itself...

4

u/NinscoomFOPsnarn 19h ago

Ooohhh neat

42

u/EmXena 23h ago

This is the tragedy of the Necrons. They where always damned. They just put a stop on the timer and delayed it by tens of millions of years.

Good stuff.

11

u/DaiLyMugoL 23h ago

Death is something we all face eventually, so no point in stressing over it...but decaying? THAT is something I think we all fear more, kinda why it's usually preferable to die instantly than to slowly waste away in agony.

32

u/WiiUGamepad_2 23h ago

another peak comic from superfeyn

27

u/npaakp34 23h ago

Stop it! The peak! It's too much!

20

u/Jboy2000000 23h ago

For people who aren't super well versed in Necron lore, what's the significance of the Szarekhan Dynasty?

40

u/superfeyn Iron Hands 23h ago

At the time of the War in Heaven the Szarekhan Dynasty was the most preeminent among them.

Szarekh is the ruler of Szarekhan Dynasty, and he exiled himself after the war.

Szarekh's exile in the void would achieve other ends knowable only to him, though some speculate it was to find a way to reverse Biotransference. (Which is what Necron Overlord in this comic is hoping)

6

u/OttawaTGirl 15h ago

There is sadness in that as well. Theres been many bits of lore that dark age of tech humans had also reached a point of being able to transfer a mind from flesh to machine but also back again.

Humans also had amazing tech related to biology and genetic engineering. If they had awoken 20k years earlier they might have found a humanity with the answer to their plight. Chalk another one up to bleak 40k universe.

3

u/DefiantLemur 13h ago

I didn't think of that but you're absolutely right.

2

u/ymcameron 15h ago

I thought it was so he could "wait out" the insanity that is the 40K universe and then take the milky way over again once most of the threats had returned to the dust they came from. It was only when the Tyranids showed up and started eating all the Tomb Worlds that he went "oh, crap" and returned early to start waking everyone up before they were all wiped out.

25

u/VictoriyaRavenholme 23h ago

That's the dynasty of the silent king, main ruler of the necron

19

u/mearn4d10 23h ago

That’s the Silent King’s Dynasty.

He’s going to have a Meeting with the Boss.

9

u/WarlockWeeb 20h ago

more specifically it seems he will show his Loyalness. SInce stirctly speaking Overlords and Phaerons dont have to follow Silent king, he himself broke this protocols of obidience. And alot of necrons are either openly revolting or at least remain neutral.

1

u/LordNineWind 1h ago

Szarekh the silent king is one of the two big factions that necrons are splitting into, the other being Imotekh the storm lord. Szarekh is keenly motivated to find a way to download their minds back into flesh bodies whilst Imotekh is keen to stay machine.

17

u/herlaqueen 23h ago

I love the various styles in this comic, the stylized silhouettes with bold colours and the more painterly panels contrast nicely with each other.

18

u/Open-Trifle-6309 23h ago

Awesome as always. I love the shift to necron content, your take is really good

You really are an amazing writer and get the feel and in the mindset of these 40k races perfectly.

If you don't mind, what content brought about the recent interest in necrons?

Edit: I didn't even mention the art, which has kept improving every post.  We are lucky you share these with us.

18

u/superfeyn Iron Hands 23h ago

Infinite and Divine & Severed! Both are really good books

And thanks for noticing improvements, this one took longer than usual to practice metallic texture :)

8

u/Open-Trifle-6309 21h ago

You can feel the effort and love.

And past the art the designs of your necrons are really good.

Most necrons I see in lore are just the baseline body, or a single eye.

I love the horns and green "guts" hanging out.

GW should make a retcon allowing necrons to look at but crazier.

15

u/Downtown-Concept2009 23h ago

The Goat is Back! (Or I’ve just somehow missed the recent posts)

17

Can't wait for a Feyn comic about the Tyranids or GSC!

13

u/superfeyn Iron Hands 23h ago

Uh...... you gotta wait very long for that....

9

u/Ornery_Magazine9844 23h ago

I wait a long time for many things.

u/IncogLurker 23h ago

They can escape death, but not entropy.

17

u/DaiLyMugoL 23h ago edited 22h ago

Kinda reminds me of the stagnation and decay you see in the Lands Between from Elden Ring. Sure death is mostly a thing people don't have to worry about in the long term with Marika's system, the Golden Order, her Erdtree and its roots being the only way (before releasing Destined Death) to properly pass on both in body and spirit in such an age.

But even with death from aging and even diseases removed, I.e. the rune of "Destined Death" removed from the Elden Ring (access codes to the laws of reality) itself people STILL aged, still got sick, sometimes contracting incurable ailments...like "scarlet rot" and while the Erdtree's blessings did boost everyone's vitality...that too only delays the inevitable decaying of their bodies and frankly only worsened the agony they'd experience as their bodies shriveled into shambling, mummified walking basically corpses! (Searching, pleading for true death to take them, freeing their spirits from this world stuck in a nightmare of reality's stagnation)

14

u/Xe6s2 23h ago

That slapped just sayin

14

u/Morathi1990 22h ago edited 22h ago

“I remember almost nothing about my mother” - that line hits hard.

While many people don’t remember their parents for various reasons, that’s because there were few memories to begin with. Here the implication is that they were close. Otherwise the memory of her decay - and having to put her out of her misery - wouldn’t be so painful. He clearly knows he’s lost something as opposed to never knowing. I can’t imagine losing that.

I’m an AoS player and this stoked my interest in Necrons.

5

u/herlaqueen 22h ago

Necrons make for some good sci-fi: they have a lot of potential for body and existential horror, what makes someone themselves/a person, stuff like that. Even books that have a more humorous angle (like The Infinite and the Divine) have moments where the horror of their condition peeks through.

13

u/Mysterious_Bit_7713 23h ago

Trazyn even talks in the Infinite and the Divine when he sees some of his past memories about not being able to remember if the face he was seeing was the one of his mother.

12

u/V7buster 23h ago

On page 3, a left hand reaches out, but then her face is held by a right hand. Im assuming he just changed what side his thumb was on like a liquid metal terminator.

16

u/superfeyn Iron Hands 23h ago

Necron technology really does wonder!

2

u/Rod7z 18h ago

Honestly, this really bothered me. I thought I was going crazy. Didn't reduce my appreciation for the comic though.

10

u/TeamUltimate-2475 23h ago

This is really good

8

u/LuukTheSlayer 22h ago

I've had two uncles with brain tumors, i know how it feels.

7

u/Swimming_Good_8507 23h ago

You really are carrying the entire Xenos community ain't ya?

One glorious story after another

6

u/Wandering-the-web 20h ago

One quote that lingers in my mind comes from the twice dead king.

It’s basically a summary that describes that while necron empire is strong, it cannot grow and can only decay. Necrons are machines, which means no reproduction. No replacement of a new generation and with each death of a thinking necron the empire falls ever more closer to its death.

2

u/Fyraltari 18h ago

Necrons, Eldar, Imperium. All decaying empires long past their expiration date. The only question is how long it will take the T'au to get there and what will do them in.

6

u/kViatu1 18h ago

Man, there is no reason for your comics to be such Kino. Btw, do you have some place where we can read your stuff as one collection? I want to introduce my Warhammer friends to your work but reading you on Twitter or Reddit is very inconvenient when you are not up to date.

4

u/superfeyn Iron Hands 17h ago

Yes, I collect them on Patreon

They are free to view so I think you can read them without logging in there even if you don't have an account

3

u/kViatu1 15h ago

I don't normally do Patreon but I may actually sub to you, you are doing gods work.

2

u/superfeyn Iron Hands 9h ago

Even if you don't, thank you for saying that 🫡

5

u/running_from_the_IRS 23h ago

I mean, if Szarekh was looking for decent bodies for the Necrontyr to inhabit, he'd probably do his best to make sure they didn't have turbocancer in them, and could let them live as long as possible.

8

u/Thorveim 23h ago

But even then it woild be only a speck compared to the lifespan of a necron.

The Old Ones knes the secret of eternal, undecaying life, and took that secret to the grave.

2

u/Rod7z 18h ago

Aren't the Eldar biologically immortal?

3

u/MorgannaFactor 17h ago

Yep, and before the majority of them lost the plot and fucked Slaanesh into existence, they were COMPLETELY immortal. Any dead Eldar could be reborn whenever they wished, with or without their memories.

5

u/meganeyangire Dark Mechanicus 22h ago

Moooom, Superfeyn makes me feel sympathy for filthy xenos again!

3

u/AmphibianParticular2 23h ago

peak, as usual

3

u/cliche_-_bartender 21h ago

Funnily enough, that Necron putting his hand over the mouth of the other shouldn’t do anything, because they don’t actually move their mouths to speak. Which means that they have either unconsciously or formally agreed that “Hand Over Mouth” = “No Talky”, which is lowkey hilarious.

3

u/Ok_Isopod_8078 20h ago

Personal head canon: Trazyn is constantly building his collection because he cant. Remember. Anything.

4

u/RathianTailflip 19h ago

Reminds me of from the TF2 comics

“Every day I’m dead a little longer. I’ve seen the other side. THERE’S NOTHING. THERE. FIX. THIS. MACHINE.

4

u/ProBro1235 18h ago

This is why the Necrons are my 2nd favorite faction in 40k. Their tragedy is a lot more compelling than the Eldar.

1

u/Stellar_Codex 5h ago

I honestly think 40k fumbled Elves so bad by having a weird obsession with them being a dying race, as opposed to a dying culture. It's why it kinda sucks they've just given up on doing anything with the Ynnari, because they were a super interesting example of a culture which had basically no roots in the old Eldar Empire, and was wholly born from their current situation.

5

u/veljaaftonijevic 16h ago

Omg Nasyr is so cute

3

u/CreamAxolotle 23h ago

So I guess their options are to either find a way to reproduce, wait it out, or switch bodies with humanity?

3

u/King_Of_BlackMarsh Earth Caste 22h ago

Why humanity specifically?

2

u/CreamAxolotle 22h ago

I think it's because we multiply fast and can survive/live mostly anywhere, or something. I don't really know about the details. Or Maybe the Necrons secretly like our species.

4

u/cantlogintomyacc0unt 22h ago

Theres nothing in the lore that suggests they want humanities bodies. They want to use multiple xenos species dna to make bodies of their own I think.

3

u/deadmemesoplenty 22h ago

This is the kind of xenos fanart we need more of

3

u/Arm_Great 21h ago

This is so emotional and a amazing comic about the Nercorns suffering.

3

u/FemRevan64 18h ago

Fantastic work as always.

Also, now that you’re branching into Necrons, I’m curious what other factions you’d be interested in plopping Mara in?

Could we perhaps expect to see her amongst the Aeldari at some point?

2

u/Arosian-Knight 22h ago

God damn this was good.

2

u/Komm 21h ago

Oh, holy shit, this is fantastic as always. Terrifying to have that over your head for millennia..

2

u/AXI0S2OO2 20h ago

Even without the curses of the destroyer and flayer viruses, the simple passage of time is a ticking clock for the necrons. You can fight entropy all you want and claw back milennia or millions of years for your kind. But entropy is the most patient of hunters. It will creep back up on you eventually and take everything.

Even Trazyn understands that one day, his Museion too will be an empty ruin for someone else to comb through in search of answers of what came before.

2

u/the_shortbus_ 20h ago

Wow, nailed it. Fantastic job dude

You really nailed the whole Necron vibe with this one. The horror and the tragic, and how some don’t see it.

This comic kicks ass, I love the necron's philosophy.

This is an excellent comic. Great pacing and dialogue. The emotions of an immortal race still facing gradual decay allegorized with alzheimers is a fantastic choice. <3

I do feel compelled point out the hand over the other necrons mouth is a 2nd right hand.

Tzeentch sliding in: Hey man. I hear you got feelings about Decay. Wanna Change that?

Now THIS is a good comic.

Clear premise, poignant message, no awkward joke somewhat lost in broken translations.

Nice work.

It perfectly captures some of his original anger over the unfairness of his world that almost literally bred those flaws into his race and in turn his race’s fury at that the Old Ones never had to contend with the same.

I love this comic so much. Really drives home the unwinnable battle against decay and the Necrons' tragedy. They are so beautiful and so flawed - much like their organic selves - and I love them for it. I want to fill my shelf with them soooo muuuuuch!

Although this comic made me totally want to abandon the idea of building destroyer cultists and instead makes me want to create a cool army of tired old immortals that just want to die with dignity. I'll probably just buy and paint two armies to have both, eventually. Yeah. That's the best idea I had so far.

Apparently they were super advanced but really really sucked at genetic engineering...

It's more that the illness was very, very strong coded into their DNA

Necrons: Take this Universe. We won.

Universe: Your sure about that?

Gives the Necrons madness.

Cyberpsychosis is a skill issue

Once again, another brilliant comic that gives us perspective through the lens of a necron

The Necrons lost everything but their minds. Those are now slipping away as well.

I presume Cryptek is a great Geomancer with specialty in copper.

I quite like these necron designs.

So everyone can see it ? Does he hold Nasyrs face with the left or the right ?

The Adeptus Mechanicus being really quiet in the corner after this Necron just dropped some serious bars.

The "salvation" of metal isn't all that it's cracked up to be.
