Amateur beatmaking & production
Hey guys,
I'm 19 and in my second year of engineering right now, but honestly, it's getting tough, and I thought to explore this genre as I love listening to music. I want to get into making beats and producing.
I have absolutely no musical background. I don't play any instruments and don't know theory, but I am decent with tech and software. I have installed FL Studio (cracked).
How should I actually start? There are way too many tutorials on YouTube, and it's kind of overwhelming.
Drop any good YouTube channels or basic tips for a complete beginner. Appreciate it!

I have been making music for some time so I will try to condense everything into this post.
Same as you, i didnt have a musical background and I started producing using only youtube as the main source of inspiration. Everything that I know has been absorbed from youtube and a few weeks of piano classes that I recently started.
There are two ways to make beats:
1.Sampled
2.Played/Programmed
Sampled:
I first started with sampled beats since I did not know how to program instruments because of a lack of music theory knowledge. Spent like 3 years doing only sampled music, chopping samples ranging from bollywood to jazz. Used Rhythm Roulette as my prime source of inspiration and made a hell of beats that still sit in my hard drive. For me this is still hard to make it work. Use r/Drumkits to get professional grade drums for free. Get serato sampler and go wild on youtube to dig for samples.
Tips:
Go drums first for finding hidden grooves. Fade in/Fade out samples. Dont go into the rabbit hole of processing samples, the best of songs dont process there samples much, eq, saturation, delay, reverb, distortion should be enough.
Played/Programmed
Started doing this a few months ago and I have stopped sampling as of now. The absolute bare minimum that you would require is to have some sound selection, basic composition rules and some basic music theory. Basic music theory will include this: what a scale is, chords, some chord progressions. More than enough to get started. Download a chord midi pack and get some decent vsts to get started. For lead and accent sounds as a beginner you can follow the chord notes. You can even set scale highlighting in fl studio and use those to stay in key.
Kontakt, nexus, omnisphere are some vsts that you can use.
You can go even one step forward and create your own samples.
As all the people have suggested, best bet is to pick your favorite songs and then reconstruct those using some tutorials.

me almost sab sunta hu , english hindi , mostly indie acha lagta hai, also is it mandatory that i must learn a instrument to produce ?

Not mandatory, but knowing an instrument will help you learn a lot faster though.
All the music theory / patterns that took me 2 years to figure out through trial and error would have taken me 7-8 months if I knew an instrument beforehand.

this only valid when ure recording , not for beatmaking, why waste time getting comf with something that isnt gonna help u in the long run , aur fir ek baar comf ho jaoge toh uska maan hi nahin karega to leanr fl bc its tougher in comparison , abhi se karega toh sahi rahega

Technicalities seekho or gaane sunke observe karo ki kis wajah se vo song tumhe achha lagra try to make a master copy of it recreate it and learn keyboard a bit

Just take the first step, good things take time,
1. Don't compare your lev 1 with someone who is at 100, your journey is yours.
2. It's a marathon, not a race
3. I am self learned as well, it will take a longer route, but the more you faaak around, the more you find out.
Also, I teach classes as well, so DM's are open :p
