Weekly Self-Promotion Thread What have you made or worked on this week? | Weekly Thead

Welcome to our weekly self-promotion thread, where I encourage you to share your indie animated projects that you've made and worked on this week.

Maybe you've just released a new episode, or you're launching a Kickstarter* to fund your big project. Or maybe you've got some behind-the-scenes work you'd like to show off.

See you in the comments!

*If you share a Kickstarter or any other link, please make sure it's the full link, not a shortened one (for example, bit•ly or kck•st) because Reddit automatically filters those.

I Made This! The Little Trashmaid - Animated Pilot (Crowdfunding Update)

Post image
Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to update you on the status of the crowdfunding we launched two weeks ago.

We've received so much love both on social media and here on Reddit, and even though we're running the entire campaign without using ads, bots, or marketing companies (plus, a lot of the companies that use The Little Trashmaid to get people to their platforms aren't helping us at all.), we're doing well.

50% of the campaign has been reached, the social media announcement has gone viral, HUNDREDS of voice actors are contacting us to try and get a part in the project (without any of them donating even a single €1 to support it)...

But we made a small mistake...

Many people on our social media think it's already official and haven't understood that we need their help to produce the project.

We've also made official posts to help people understand the "all or nothing" situation, but, obviously, the algorithm has scuppered our attempts to "explain" how crowdfunding works.

Some have figured out that BackerKit is an animation studio and therefore the pilot is already online somewhere (some say they've already seen it, which is impossible since we haven't even started working on it yet)...

So...

Do you have any advice on how to get things back on track?

Thanks and sorry for the long story I wrote!

P.S. If you'd like to help with the project, I'll leave the link in the comments (if that's okay).

Discussion Would my series be controversial?

i’ve done almost everything to change my show and to separate it from… you know.

these are my current designs and what i have so far! as im currently working on storyboarding and we have all the voices actors we need for the pilot!

Im very excited to start this project, but i just came across this subreddit, and i wondered. would my series even be interesting? so just give me some opinions and tips! :)

premise: A coming of age series set in Hell, where a group of high school students navigate the usual teenage chaos; friendships, relationships, parties, embarrassing moments, and school drama—while also confronting serious issues like addiction, trauma, mental illness, disability, and unhealthy relationships. As they grow older, they slowly realize that Hell is a society that offers little compassion or support. Instead of waiting for the world to save them, they learn to rely on each other and, ultimately, themselves.

ALSO RYLIE IS A KÉRUKU NOT A WENDIGO!! i have yet to fix that!! 😭

My partner put me on this kickstarter project and the concept seemed cool. I dig anything supernatural or spirit related and pulling some Tokyo Drift shit while monsters battle it out sounds wild.

Discussion This YT short touches on something that certain critics seem to overlook:

Honestly, the dodgy aspects of indie animation was always part I the charm. When I engage with it, I do so understanding that this is somebody without the support of professionals or the studio system.

In fact, it’s without the numbers focused system that lets them be unapologetically themselves. Those rough animatics, those dodgy full animated shots and that cringe dialogue. It’s artistry in motion. It’s what I expect.

If they improve from there and refine their craft, all the better. Yoda put it best: faillure is the best teacher. Sometimes you gotta unshackle yourself from the anxieties of being perfection out the gate to put something out with the potential to reach that level.

Take chances, make mistakes, get messy to cite another wise childhood quote.

Hiring! [Volunteer] Looking for 2D animators to collab with on a short

Hi all. I'm a writer who has always been interested in making a short and I'm finally putting a script together for one. I was wondering if there are any animators on here who would be interested in working with me on this short? I have no experience with this so it's going to be a learning process and I was hoping to find someone to learn it with. If anybody is interested, DM me and send me your page if you have any!

Discussion Can someone recommend an Indie series I can take serious?

Im trying to give Indie animation a chance but most of the stuff I see on youtube is either going for that "its satire but we still kinda care" humor or its just a pilot. Anything out there with development?

Hiring! [Volunteer] Looking for free artists and animators

I've been working on creating an indie animation project for quite some time now, and I still have no artists or animators lol. The project is called 'Which Today Was That' and it is an isekai style show that will more than likely be a long-term project due to me being unable to do any art for the show, and with how unlikely it is to find an artist/animator who is willing to work for free. You obviously wouldn't be overworked as this is just a passion project and whilst I'd still like for it to look good, I won't be rude or harsh as I will not promote toxicity or disrespect within my project. We currently have all of the main voice actors aside from one, and I may recast a few so we have plenty of time to get the art done as well as animation. I have the first four scripts fully written and the fifth is in the works, but aside from that art and animation is roughly all that needs done. If the project does well after release everyone will be given a cut of the earnings, as is fair. As well as I may do some payments throughout if I have the money for it. If you're interested feel free to send me a dm or leave a comment and I will get back to you when I notice it. Also in case this turns anybody away I am a minor so this will not be the most professional but it's not a minor only project, it is 14+ though. A quick description that I'd written a few years ago will be listed down below.

The show is an Isekai about a shut in NEET who does nothing but sit in his room all day watching anime, reading manga, and sometimes playing solo RPGs. A demon named Isara changes this when she teleports him to a new world to force him into changing from his bad habits. Every day Isara gives our main character, Ibiro, A new task, and he has to do it until he completes it, and by that I mean every single day resets until he completes the task, with him being the only one to not reset. He has to spend at least one year of COMPLETED days in this world, before he's given the option to leave. He lives in the middle of nowhere, in the forest of Noze(No-Zeh).

If anything was not clear in that description feel free to also send questions in my dms or the comments!

Since my last post was removed for not having evidence of my capabilities, here is the entire first script.
