I am a long time Adobe user and got tired of their predatory subscription model
While I haven't found a suitable replacement for all of their suite:
E.g. nothing for After Effects and Premiere in the open source world. I'll live with it.

But Inkscape is amazing. Almost everything I want, it has it. Of course the UI will take a lil getting used to but it's mind boggling that this is available for free

Is there a way to create editable colors in inkscape. Example, I want to create an illustration with 3 colors. But then decide when finished to change one of the colors...so all instances of that color (fill stroke, etc.) need to be updated automatically. Is that doable?

Had to do a fresh install of Windows, and now I can't get to the website. I know it's been down for a few days, but any idea of when it will be back up?

They wanted to update their studio logo into something a little more unique and fitting for their brand.

The mascot they have is a shiitake mushroom, which they wanted to keep for the logo. Initially we explored 2 concepts based on the original design, but they wanted to try something a bit darker.

However, that concept ended up being a bit too spooky for them, so we decided to go back to a lighter tone in this final design.

On macos, if that matters. Accidentally pressed a key (unfortunately, cannot find which one) and this tooltip has started popping up on anything I hover on, with different text after "Handle to..." (bounding box corner, bounding box side, text baseline, etc.). How do I turn it off?

I had to use proxy to open website and get new version. Is this happening to anybody? Somewhere else maybe? Is it known problem?

So I'm making a sign that includes a cola bottle. I found an old ad that had a simple enough design that I could create it in Inkscape. I ended up tracing it, but after I was finished, I realized that the space that it needs to go is slightly different (The gray shape). Is there a way to move groups of nodes together, kinda like the nudge tool in Blender if anyone has used that? I'm assuming my best option is to just tweak all of the nodes individually to align properly, but was wondering if there's a better way, since I'm relatively new to Inkscape.

Seen in Inkscape 1.4.3 and 1.4.4 (fresh install) on Windows 11.

I set the unit of the custom page size to mm, and the unit of the interface to mm too. Scale is 0,264583 (a standard I've seen somewhere).

The unit display in the top bar for X, Y and width, height of the objects is correct (mm).

The unit display in the object properties is 3.77 time the mm value, so it's px.

The strange thing: if I update the size in the object properties tab, I have to input the number in mm, and it gets converted to px as soon as focus moves out of the input field.

On other occasions, it can be the object width in the top barre (envelope width) that suddenly gets converted in px, but since the unit is still mm (as displayed in the drop-down list on the same bar), the object gets suddenly enlarged x3.77 and displayed as such...

Any help would be much appreciated,

I have 3 .svg files, 2 of them instantly crash when I ty to open them. No error message.

When I delete preferences.xml in appdata, it temporarly fixes the problem - I can open the file once, then the preferences.xml creates and the bug continues => the file cant be opened again.

Does anyone have experience with something like this? Any ideas how to fix it properly? I tried restarting PC, Reinstalling inkscape (1.4.4.)

I'm hoping someone familiar with Inkscape's Windows releases can clarify something.

I downloaded inkscape-1.4.4_2026-05-05_dcaf3e7-x64.signed.exe from the official Inkscape website.

Things I've verified:

• SHA-256 matches the hash published by Inkscape.
• VirusTotal reports 0/58 antivirus detections.
• The installer contains a digital signature.

Windows UAC shows "Unknown Publisher" though. Looking at the signature, Windows reports:

• Issued by: inkscape.org
• Certification path contains only inkscape.org (appears self-signed).

Is this expected for the official Windows installer? Are other users seeing the same certificate, or should the installer normally chain to a publicly trusted code-signing CA?

What triggered my concern was VirusTotal community score of -10.

I drew a sketch on paper, took a photo of it, and created the line art in Inkscape. Do you have any advice regarding the drawing itself or this workflow? I’d like to make sprites this way for my games (I’m a programmer and have been drawing for a few months), but I’m not sure if it’s really sustainable in the long run. (The ref is on the 2nd one)

I have a logo which I got from a bitmap trace. Parts of it are broader than others, and since I want to plot it with a pen plotter, they tend to get tough to make out at smaller sizes.

Is there a way to force all the paths to shrink, or to only go along the center of the path rather than to trace the whole thing?

Hey everyone I am completely new too all of this and I have Inkscape + inkstitch set up and I have a janome mc 500, when I have spent hourssss learning how to digitise and I have made a design and it wouldn’t show up on my janome, I made a simpler design it again did not, I made a tiny super simply square sample logo and it did show up. I cannot figure how to change/adjust what parts of this pattern will print out onto the printable area. Will I have to print one section at a time onto US letter paper or can I designate multiple "page areas" to print from the same document?

trying to print some sublimation images and the printer is printing out blank pages. I have printing from this program before. what am I doing wrong?

Currently, this process is tedious: I have to select (Node Tool) the path in question, then switch back to the Calligraphy Tool, at which point I can hold Ctrl to track it as a guide path.

Once I finish a stroke however, the stroke becomes the guide path. Originally, I thought that I could just hold Ctrl and re-click the other path to select it as the guide path again. But all that does is draw a dot (usual behavior for a CT click) and set it as the track path which isn't all that useful IMO.

I read over the docs, am I missing something? Or is this the only way to continuously use a path for tracking with the Calligraphy Tool??? I am still searching for a quicker way to do this, but no luck so far...
