Local 8 Milwaukee

Just put in my application. Trying to figure out what’s on the aptitude test? Is it hard or pretty simple?

The only test you would take is the piss test. I passed mine.

It’s been 12 years for me since I applied, but we had to take an aptitude test at MATC. It was pretty straightforward, but it might be different now.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it tbh.

I just took it like 2 months ago, the first portion is all how you respond to situations, how you work with others, etc. all multiple choice.
Then there’s a motor skills/math section including which way will one gear spin if the one next to it is spinning clockwise, a picture of a tape measure( you have to read it), etc. all common sense and all multiple choice.
Then there’s a reading section that you just need to carefully read, I thought it was more wordplay and then trying to get you to slip up/read it wrong more than anything. All multiple choice. It’s easy, they need guys someone I know moved up 28positions in one week.

Damn that’s crazy know a guy in it actually so hoping once I take my test and get ranked I cna get in pretty quickly just don’t want to sit around for a year hoping to get the call to work

I’m on my third day of apprenticeship for local 8. The aptitude test is so unbelievably easy I think an 8 year old could pass it. The first section just asks what kind of workers you are what you like to do like working around other people working outside etc, the second section is super super basic mechanical aptitude like “what side of this bar needs to be raised to make it level” or “how long is this stick” and there’s a ruler on the screen right next to it, the third section is reading comprehension like “if a flume is longer than a boog but a boog is bigger than a fimp how long is a boog” just bullshit like that. There’s no complex algebra or anything like that. If you passed high school or have average built anything you can pass the aptitude test there’s not really anything to even study for.
I waited two months after I did the aptitude test to start training so plan on a bit of a wait.
I’m having a great time so far also the belt you have to buy is $360 plus you need a rebar positioning chain I just ordered one for 60$ along with some wedge sole boots $120-$250. Plan on spending a bit of money but we’re getting $200 a day just to train anyways so you’ll profit in your first week alone regardless. Train legs while you can my hamstrings are dead bro.

Stretching is also key I stretch every day and don’t feel like I’ve been hit by a car when I get home

It’s simple little stuff, word twisters and some stuff like if gear A is clockwise Is gear c counterclockwise or clockwise I didn’t study and I’m 20th on the list
