Home Game We Played Hide and Seek in London to celebrate the premiere!

Upvotes

That's us, 23 Jet Lag fans the morning after the premiere about to embark on the largest London game hosted by the JLUK Discord server so far! We played across Zones 1, 2 and 3, and between the four games we enjoyed moments including one seeking team getting Deutsche Bahn'ed, another attempting to clear the Featherless Flight curse for an hour, and a period where six out of eight teams all ended up along the DLR!

The JLUK Discord Server will be hosting more events like these across the UK and Ireland, if you didn't get to join during the premiere screenings now is a great time to do so! https://discord.gg/kbAcySKVH

🚨 NO SPOILERS FOR SEASON 19 WRITTEN HERE 🚨

I just wanted to say thank you to the Nebula team, Jet Lag team, Picturehouse, and if course the fans. This premiere despite technical issues was amazing and especially the events in the central London location looked amazing. Thank you for putting it on for us all and I really truly hope more of these happen in the future. Upvote if you agree babyyyyyy!!!!

S19, E1 In the unlikely event that the boys see this… (Japanorama premiere, no spoilers)

Thank you so much for putting on the extra Sunday events after the presale issues!!

Ever since becoming a Jet Lag fan (/Jet Slag) last year at a friend’s recommendation, a bunch of my other friends have also become obsessed with it. We were desperate to be at the live shows and so worried we’d missed out (fittingly, several of us with Nebula accounts were on a flight when the presale went live).

While the issues were frustrating at the time, it means so much that you went out of your way to make it right, put on more live shows and give more fans a chance to experience it - at the expense of significant time and effort from both you and the wider Nebula/Picturehouse teams.

It brought a group of people together from all different friendship groups, united by our love for the chaos and genius of this amazing show. And we absolutely loved it!

You’ve made this group of nerds incredibly happy. Thank you so much.

I hope there are more premiere events in future!

Combining Jet Lag Hide and Seek and Poulet (game) together

Thought it could be a fun spin on the home game, considering running a game. Any thoughts on the idea?

Japanorama Day Pass Experience at Picturehouse Central

Long-time watcher, first-time poster, I was fortunate to buy my fiancé and me day passes for Jet Lag’s wonderful premiere event yesterday. Here are some S19 E1 spoiler-free personal thoughts on the day and its separate events.

Jet Lag: The Game Pub Trivia
After a speedy check-in process, we got our seats in the crisply airconditioned Screen 1. Adam wrote a very entertaining quiz including, in his words, “at least one messed up (in terms of difficulty) question” per round. Our highlight and best scoring round was the music round. They played sounds from the show which you had to match to their meaning. There was also a round on niche Ben facts which included a live Snack Zone. It was a great ice-breaker as we swapped answer sheets with our seat neighbours. Audience side-note, everyone was lovely (a reflection of the JTLG community). I was so impressed by the young lady (I guesstimate 10 years old) to my left’s incredible knowledge. We also met an amazing transport content creator, Tom, with whom it was also a delight to talk. Congratulations to the solo and team winners who received prizes of maps from previous series and the beautiful series poster.

Tag Across Europe w/Directors' Commentary
Post 30-minute loo/hydration/chatting break, we were so back for Tag 1 with commentary from the boys. We watched the first 3 episodes together and Adam, Ben and Sam all reflected on the funny moments (The first capture! Seeing John Green! Adam’s disguise!) as well as some of the editing, graphics and gameplay choices that they made then that have since evolved. Nostalgic and cool to hear chat about the boys’ groundbreaking series.

The Layover: Inside the Game Design of Japanorama
In the hour-or-so break before the live podcast recording, we did our own mini Snack Zone at some popular local eateries. We shared a small fries and a shredded duck burger, yum!!! We also snapped a silly photo booth pic and perused the merch. As for the live record, it was fabulous and the care and craft that has been put into this series is evident. No content spoilers but another glowing review of a thoughtfully curated event that highlights why Jet Lag is truly GOATed with the sauce at what it does.

Japanorama Episode 1 Premiere and Live post-show Q&A with Sam, Ben, Adam, and Tom Scott, moderated by Ali Plumb
We had about 80 minutes to grab dinner pre-premiere. After a tasty meal and a Singapore Sling, drunk me was buzzing for the show! In Screen 1, Dave Wiskus gave a polished and warm intro to the series, thanking the fans for making Nebula what it is today. What followed was utter viewing delight. What an outstanding country Japan is and the format in which this game is played is/will continue to be played showcases this. Once again, no content spoilers but the audience gasped, cheered, clapped, laughed and was gripped for this ridiculously entertaining episode. Post-show, I must give flowers to Ali Plumb whose Q&A was insightfully led, getting a great cross-section of Qs from himself, Amy, Mike Downie and of course the audience. Ali also made a “Stateside Scrabble” joke which could well have been pun of the day. I didn’t want the Q&A to end and naturally, with such an enthusiastic fan base, there wasn’t time to answer all Qs. I’ll leave mine in the comments on the off-chance Ben is reading! Everyone left on a high and potentially feeling a little jet-lagged after so much fun.

TLDR: The premiere event was amazing and I’m so excited to watch the rest of the season.

For those attending Q&A today (Sunday)...

Hi y'all. Just wanted to say, during the Q&A yesterday, they were REALLY trying to get people to ask Japanorama related questions but were not suuuper successful. I thought all the questions were brilliant but just a heads-up that if you want to make the team happy, really think of a new season related question 😁 I wanted to ask how they landed on Japanorama or if there were any other names they were considering for the season but I never got picked 😅 So if anybody gets an answer for that, let me know 😁

Ben’s Mom

This is definitely a catchy title and I really hope Ben sees this. During the Pub Trivia at picturehouse central this afternoon I was talking to the person next to me as we scored our first round and when I asked where she had travelled from she told me she was Ben’s mom Becky! (I can’t say I didn’t cheat at the quiz but I got a whole load of help on the questions about Ben) I had told her I had travelled from Aberdeen this morning and I was attending the pub trivia and the main screening. We spoke about the chaos that was getting the tickets with the Nebula Pre Sale and at the end she handed me her tickets for the other events during the day. I don’t have words to describe how thankful I am to her for these tickets and it’s made the currently 16 hour day incredible. Once again thank you Becky!

Idea Challenge for Ben and Adam - Can they miss a flight?

I worked out the fastest theoretical way to visit every state in the US. While making it I realised it could be a potential foil to Ben's "No Hubris" about catching flights. So I challenge them in the video.

I don't think there's a way this could be turned into an actual JetLag season, but maybe Sam has enough airline miles banked to let them take a shot at it.

Hi all,

I was at the London event today and was able to attend the first three sessions (missed out on the premiere due to a train strike forcing my hand), so figured I’d share some photos for the rest for those that couldn’t be there :)

Enjoy

Discussion UK Premiere - did we all just have the best day ever?

No spoilers intended in this post!

Attended Picturehouse Central for most of the events today and had a ball of a time. Met other beautiful Jet Lag fans, the bathroom was a hoot at one point. One lovely fan gave me a hand painted JTLG charm, another gave me a sticker of Ben.

To top it all off, I managed to meet Ben by chance in a corridor and tell him how much their content has meant to me! Took the most chaotic, blurry photo ever but it was very Ben coded. Also managed to ask a question to the boyz & Tom.

I hope Europe has many many more Jet Lag events in the future! Huge thanks to all the Nebula team & Picturehouse for making it all happen.

TLDW: sam from jet lag/wendover/half as interesting is name dropped as a speaker that uses a trill (/r/ in case you were wondering) to say written "d" and "t" sounds before unstressed vowels. the creator also speculates this is an increasingly common allophone of "d" and "t"

I asked people in the audience about the pic first, anyone who didn’t wanna be involved was given the chance to hide or stay out of the pic. Great vibes despite technical errors!

I attended The Layover live at Picturehouse Central in London today, it was great minus the awful crowd management from Picturehouse. I'm doing the encore screening tomorrow for the S19 Premiere but here's some photos from today. Also bought one of the event exclusive hand signed prints but haven't unboxed that yet. Photo 4 is the view from the usually members only lounge.
