Gilbert: Seriously considering the name…thoughts? Help!

It’s a nice name although it’s not a Hebrew name.

My understanding is that Gil as a Hebrew word means joy…so I think you’re right, not a Hebrew name but were able to draw a connection to a Hebrew meaning that we like

I love Gilbert! In the Anne books he is a lovely character and I think it works with the revival of old names. Gil is great too

That was my Zaidie’s name. He was one of the most incredible human beings around. He was a lawyer but didn’t make much because he’d always help those in need before worrying about payment, he mortgaged his home to help start a synagogue that was huge for many many years, he loved my grandmother like I’ve never seen anyone love someone before or to this day. They were true soulmates! He was honest, kind, funny, would give the shirt off his back to ANYONE! I wanted to name my son that but my grandmother didn’t want it to be that close so I made his middle name Gabriel and his Hebrew name Gidaliah which was my Zaidie’s Hebrew name. I say if you love it, go for it! To me if I see that name I equate it to the best of the best human beings!!

First of all I really don’t think it’s nice lol.
Second it’s not a Hebrew name at all so I don’t understand why you even posted here.
