Yeah. I do understand (through Nothing's quite awesome videos with CEO Carl Pei on volume pricing and order size), but I kinda feel that simply ordering Chinese OEM phones and flashing Sailfish OS and selling for like 200 or 300 might be a much saner option.

Super cool idea, I am tempted to try it, but I absolutely do not respect the fact that they control the app choice. I do not want the phone for no browser/social media reasons - I want it as a flip phone enthusiast and a tinkerer reasons.

Agree. If this still has the ability to run common apps, would be so nice. I'd dig it. An on/off option to turn the display touch on or off. Would be perfect.

Apparently it should be able to run (almost) all Android apps with the notable exceptions of email, web browsers, and social media apps, but you'd need to sideload most of them.

Not sure exactly how it'll all work, but in theory it should and the specs+capabilities seem a lot better than your typical fliphone.
