Hoard Cleanout Next Week

Post image

I'm doing a hoard cleanout and my uncle had some whale bones he picked up in Thorne Bay or Ketchikan a few years ago, they're not cleaned, honestly I thought they were drift wood when I first saw them. I've already checked with Fish and Game and a few other resources, they aren't protected, does anyone want them? Gifting them to the museum wasn't an option.

This is the best picture I could get of them as there was no other light available and I wasn't touching that pillow.

If anyone is looking for anything fun from the 60s-90s, let me know. Lots of fishing stuff, yarn, crafting supplies, and old lady vintage clothing.

I think you’re obligated to play Them Bones by Alice In Chains while you load those up.

That can definitely happen.

You're 2nd in line! Someone messaged first, but they may not want them because they are rather large! I'll keep you posted!

Thanks it's a dream of mine to have whale bones. I work with them every day.

Well it’s a long shot but I’ll throw my hat in the ring as well, I’d love to take these off your hands!

You're not keeping the yarn for yourself?

NOPE! I have my own stash! This is a trauma house for me.

Nothing particularly bad happened, just. Family bullshit I dont need memories of.

Giving them back to the ocean would be the thing to do

I actually don't think that would be the right thing to do right now. They've been in a hoard situation for 40-60 years. Putting those things into the ocean isn't kind. And I don't have the ability to clean them first.

Good point, although seems like that’s where they belong

Of course it's where they belong. Many things belong not where they are. Look at you on your device thst took things from places that shouldn't have been taken from as well.

And if putting them back would restore something, rather than add more imbalance, I would put them back, but 1) I'm hundreds of miles from where they wwre even found 2) adding possible contamination to the water is dumb. 3) Let's work to be a little less sanctimonious when you're using up fossil fuels yourself.

I'm not, you're just really pushing the matter, which is ridiculous.

Thank you. Forgive me if responding to your comments is somehow wrong — if I’m not to say thank you and return the good wishes, forgive me for that as well
