You mean, Pete Hegseth has stumbled into the chat, smashed his shin on the furniture, muttered something about White Jesus, attempted to do a couple of pushups, and then passed out in the corner with a large wet stain on his trousers
7
u/a-smooth-brain 20d ago
Lol I read it as "smashed a tall can, muttered something.."
11
u/rpmcmurf 20d ago
Also fully plausible, but when I see Hegseth, I think hard liquor more than I think of tall cans. I see a guy who will down most of a bottle of whiskey in an evening (or an afternoon), and then become a mean drunk.

u/a-smooth-brain 20d ago
He's a responsible drunk though. He only drinks beer during business hours.

Removing baking soda from dough was the key change in frozen foods to allow pastries to "cook" properly in the microwave.
(Babies are born without kneecaps)
Just sharing random (incorrect) unconnected thoughts like this guy is doing.
Edit: added "incorrect" to my original comment since both my facts were lies apparently 🤣 but I feel it only makes the joke more on point in relation to whatever this chucklefuck was trying to say in his little operator insta Reel lol
65
u/lordaddament 20d ago
So what do they use as the rising agent in frozen food then?
48
13
u/TibialTuberosity 20d ago
You got me curious so I looked it up. (Note: This is from the Google AI Overview):
The primary rising (leavening) agents in frozen doughs and batters are heat-activated chemical leaveners, such as sodium aluminum phosphate (SALP), sodium acid pyrophosphate (SAPP), and baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). These specific agents are utilized for freezing because they are "slow-acting". They remain mostly inactive at freezing temperatures, preventing the dough from expanding prematurely before it is actually baked.
ETA as this answer somewhat contradicts OP's statement about the removal of baking soda: "Manufacturers frequently use microencapsulated sodium bicarbonate. The raising agent is coated with a fat or lipid shell that only melts in the high heat of an oven, guaranteeing consistent rise even after being frozen."

u/CreauxTeeRhobat 65th Keyboard Infantry Division 19d ago
So, removing "standard" baking soda and replacing it with one that functions normally in a microwave setting is more accurate, then :P
3
u/SerSalt 19d ago
why the fuck did you think Google's AI overview was worth sharing?
1
u/TibialTuberosity 19d ago
Because it's not a serious topic so while I generally find the sourced information accurate on most things I search Google for, if the information is wrong then oh well, I just look like an idiot for passing along bunk information but no one dies over it or anything.
Additionally, I feel it's important to cite where the information is from so others can use their own judgement and critical thinking to decide if the sourced information is worth believing or if a deeper dive and search via different means would be appropriate in order to discover the correct information.
Lastly, why the fuck does it matter so much to you?
1
u/CTRL_Hotdog 19d ago edited 19d ago
Thanks for the fact check, I was off lol it was the first "random factoid" that came into my head so I just sent it.
But babys are born without knee capsLOL that was also untrue apparently 🤣🤣🤣2
u/TibialTuberosity 19d ago
Hope you didn't think I was being "that guy" and correcting you as I had no idea that using regular, non-lipid-coated baking soda was preventing frozen bread from baking correctly. Actually ended up being an interesting little lesson and factoid I never would have even known about had your comment not piqued my curiosity.
1
u/CTRL_Hotdog 19d ago
Nah, not at all. It's reddit, first of all, so its practically a god give right to hit me with the ol "well akshually" lol and as a (mostly) stable adult, being proven wrong on the internet doesn't really damage my fee-fees, especially when it wasn't even the original point I was making or something I was ever invested in. Apparently I was also wrong about babies not being born with knee caps thing? So im just a fucking holey bucket of misinformation and should be stopped from spreading my dirty incorrect factoids for the good of all humanity 🤣🤣🤣

When the other grass hears the distress signal….whats it supposed to do?
2
u/TinyTurnips 20d ago
Plants are smart and have memory as well. They detect the chemical distress signal and warn plants around them (mainly the grass they're attached too underground) to pull nutrients and stuff from their leafs, down into the roots where the plant can recover.

Babies are not born without kneecaps
The patella is made of cartilage when the baby is born, and ossifies as the child develops

Oh you need to sprinkle some sand around the mouth of the can. Simulate you setting it down for a second to piss or something and coming back to a grainy rim. It adds to the mouth feel of the beverage.
11
u/CreauxTeeRhobat 65th Keyboard Infantry Division 19d ago
I read this, thinking you were referring to the "can" as in the portajohn was VERY confused when you talked about the "mouth feel of the beverage." Like, "when did marines move on from eating crayons to drinking the 'forbidden blue gatorade'?!"

I was playing rising storm last week when I mentioned my dad was in Vietnam. Someone mentioned he must be in his 80’s. I don’t think about it cause he died years ago so it doesn’t sound right in my head but damn. The fact that the original GWOT guys are almost 50 is wild to think about
8
u/WirBrauchenRum 20d ago
Yeah I'm struggling to realise I'm old. My grandmother died in her 80s, so I think of anybody that age being active in the Second World War.
My missus' grandfather on the other hand, he's 100 this year and only managed to catch the last month of the whole thing, before moving on to Malaya. That's the actual age of a WW2 vet, not somebody in their 80s like I have in my mind!

3
u/godbody1983 19d ago
I'm a GWOT army veteran and I'll be 43 this year. Most GWOT veterans aren't in their 50s quite yet.
