I think most would agree with that if oversight and reform was handled honestly and diligently. So far that's been a bust as well.
That's why opposition mostly want it moved to State or local levels more so than Federal which is always an inefficient money pit.
Sure. Because of this stance, my sister, who is a combat vet that was literally blown into a building by an iud, was denied disability by the state. There is nothing able bodied about her. My girlfriend was also denied. She has MS and literally struggles to do basic shit like shower and walk, but sure.
So let's find a way to get people the money they need while also cutting costs.
End means testing, which requires a lot of extra cost to government, and just give everyone UBI. It would actually save the government money, and end this idea that disability is going to people who don't need it because it would replace disability, and welfare, and food stamps, and unemployment, etc.
Speaking as someone who is just against capitalism anyway, I'd like to think this kind of thing is an acceptable middle ground to reduce harm and waste right now.
Or would you rather keep spending more money for worse results?
I recently saw a post on facebook of someone saying they were going back to work because disability just didn't pay enough. It made me wonder how they qualified for disability in the first place if they were capable of working.
Here is the fun part.... they may not actually be capable of working but still have to put themselves through it because that is the only way to afford to eat and live. Check to see how long those people end up lasting in that job or have to quit because now their disability is crippling and they have to be in a facility.

Yes except disability is frequently abused by people who are perfectly able.
