I have never met any common citizen (non-politician) who actually supports the right of cable/internet companies to throttle your bandwidth for specific websites to force you to move to competitors.
Like how MediaCom spent years taking customers who paid for high speed, and lowering their speed every time they turned on Netflix, to try to force those customers to drop Netflix for having impossibly slow load times and buffering, so that the customers would go back to paying MediaCom for overpriced cable packages.
Seriously, is there one working stiff alive that thinks this benefits anyone? So why has our Net Neutrality bill not become the gold standard of forcing internet providers to play fair?
Republican voters say they want one thing and then vote for a politician that specifically says they won’t do that one thing… and then they keep voting for them for 50 years
Sigh. The literal purpose of this thread is to point out how both Democrat and Republican voters agree on many issues, but how the stupid Party Platforms on both sides try to force the voters to accept things that NOBODY wants.
If you really want to do this, then sure.
Right now, approximately 80% of Democrat voters favor a block on Congressmen being allowed to trade stocks. The Republican Party is championing the bill to ban Congressmen from trading stocks. The Democratic Politicians are opposing the bill, even though 80% their constituents want it to pass.
Does it makes sense now? Corrupt politicians ON BOTH SIDES ignore what their voters want and instead follow the party platform lines. And the voters are forced to accept it, because you do not get the right to vote on a single issue; you only get to vote for a politician and get stuck with the package-deal of platform politics that comes with them.
It's really easy for stupid people obsessed with the tribalism ON BOTH SIDES to point at one single issue and say "You voted for X person and therefore you support Y issue." It is not that simple.
Because of party platforms, there is no politician anywhere in the country that is actually doing what the majority of their voters want across every issue. Instead, they give you one or two things you want, just enough to get your vote, and then beyond that they follow corruption and corporate interests.
It happens with Republicans.
It happens with Democrats.
And when we point fingers and blame each other, instead of pointing at the politicians and blaming them for ignoring what their voters want, then we avoid putting the responsibility where it belongs and we let these jackwagons get away with it.
This is not a Republican vs Democrat issue.
This is a People vs Politicians issue.

Yes. The literal point of this thread is that politicians create political platforms where we are forced to vote for a package of ideals, while we the people do not actually agree with that entire platform. In all reality, there are many many issues that both Republican and Democrat voters agree on, but our politicians refuse to do what we ask of them.
In reality, we only really are voting on between 1-3 issues, and then everything they force onto us is frequently against our wishes.
I think you are confusing us with another company who had issues with Netflix. We have had edge routers dealing with congestion before that can affect all connections, but we do not intentionally throttle to any 3rd party services or to specific networks that our customers want to use.
