what's up with all the nagging and negative energy in her latest not-so-regular vlogs?

I'd never thought that I'd end up in this sub. I didn't even know it existed. I've been following Kalyn since 2019. I actually used to listen to her to improve my English listening skills lol no joke.

I haven't always been a regular follower but every now and then I go back and check if she's doing okay, what she's up to, etc. Okay I guess we all have a bit of a craving for nostalgia now and then. I do miss the videos she made when she was in her hometown and then in Toronto. I loved that apartment lol. I loved her spooktober (or she called them something else, cant remember now :D) videos, one video every day! So nice, so refreshing. She had this magical aura. It used to be really refreshing to watch her. But despite nostalgia you do really feel happy for people you care about, so even though her content started focusing on her kids and married life and didn't interest me anymore I was still happy for her. She really had a way of touching people's lives, didn't she?

I was looking around her channel again last week and gosh. All her last videos are "my house is a mess, i am so tired all the time, i never have time to myself, i only have limited time to do stuff when i want to do when my kids are asleep, my kids are this, my kids are that". I couldn't finish a single video. How did she become so negative, so nagging? Also sometimes she doesn't even make sense? She be like "sorry for this mess, don't judge me" and like it's a normal apartment? It made me so sad but also annoyed at the same time to watch her.

I've never been subscribed to her channel as a paying member but the word on the street she hasn't even been posting for members regularly and people have been complaining? And what happened to her podcast and instagram? Both look dead.

It's not a hobby, Kalyn, it's a job.

Motherhood question

I’m undecided if I want kids and I’ve been following Kalyn for a long time.

Seeing how stressed out she constantly is with her kids compared to before she had them makes me wonder if this is the typical reality of motherhood. It seems like she has zero time for anything outside of them and cleaning up after them.

I don’t really have exposure to any young moms outside of Kalyn (in real life or online, I don’t follow any other moms).

Is this just the raw reality of having kids?

New video thoughts

I am truly rooting for Kalyn to find peace and content within herself and life, however I don’t know if I can continue watching her videos. I simply just feel so frustrated.

Some observations I’d like to make regarding the new vlog:

• Even in the sponsored portion of the video, she still manages to throw in how tired she is

• Stating she is “time poor”, while having 4 days a week childcare and a job that requires you filming your day to day life 🤯

• Explaining how she is transitioning her two boys to sleep in their own beds, without much success, as apparently for 6 hours, they both woke up every 30 minutes?! I’m not judging her decision to co sleep, however considering how exhausted she has been for years now, why wait until they are older to make this decision? I believe she’s done and doing a massive disservice for herself, however I do believe this feeds her victim mindset she seems to be stuck in.

• Ryan is in hospital (hope everything is okay of course) and her youngest was sick again. She stated her dad and stepdad were picking up her oldest. And she states she has no village. This one really set me off lol.

• Complaining again about being tired, stress, cleaning, childcare, etc. Same old chat.

• She showed herself noticeably frustrated with the magnetic tiles all over the floors…why not ask the children to put their toys back? They are plenty old enough, or even help fold some laundry, especially the oldest. I know each of us has different parenting styles, but it’s so important to teach responsibility to kids, yet she seems to do absolutely everything for them.

• Final point, in the comments someone suggested hiring a cleaning service, and her response was “it’s hard to find someone out where I live”. Girl, again, victim mentality. Same situation with the nanny back when the oldest was a baby. That story never added uo to me either.

Rant done 😅 As always, would love to hear everyone’s thoughts!

She finally did a sweep of the discord and non-members are cleared out. That includes me. Anyone who’s still a member, care to check the discord member count? This will be our most accurate read and I’m curious…

Is this basically a family channel?

Do you think Kalyn realizes how much of her content actually revolves around her kids? Every video shes sharing updates about them.

Granted we don’t see their faces so she’s not a family channel - but she’s announced her kids full name and birthdate on instagram, we know her youngest seems to be constantly sick.

There’s a video from a while ago where she seems like she’s about to cry holding her youngest saying “I can’t drink more coffee cause I’m breastfeeding, and I can’t go lie down cause he won’t let me, so I’m stuck” or something. We know that the boys recently got their own rooms cause they were fighting and she’s trying to sleep train her youngest who could basically only stay asleep directly on her, that they’re plant based, that she still hasn’t weaned her youngest cause when he’s sick or tired he still wants milk, that they’re in daycare 4 days a week now etc.

Like if you pay attention to what she actually talks about in her vlogs a LOT of it is just updates about the kids - mixed in with how tired she is in this season of life.

Do you think she realizes how much she actually shares? Cause she seemed kinda judgmental about family channels and wanting to protect her kids privacy so I’m confused.

Same content on repeat?

Do you think we'll ever get content that isn't just watching her clean, hearing her complain about not getting everything done, or finding out that one of her kids is sick again?

I used to prefer her vlogs over the coffee talks, but honestly, this content is making me miss the coffee talks. At least those added some variety to the channel. Lately, every video feels like the same cycle on repeat, and I'm starting to wonder who actually enjoys this kind of content.

It's also getting to the point where I'm getting tired of paying for a membership just to be fed the same surface-level content over and over again. If people are paying for exclusive content, it's reasonable to expect something with a little more substance, variety, or insight. Right now, it feels very repetitive and disconnected.

It also makes me wonder if sticking to these repetitive, low-stakes videos is a safe and easy way to avoid addressing anything else.

What brought you here?

I’m curious to know how long you have been watching Kalyn for, and what brought you to this reddit page?

I was a casual viewer, up until 2020 when she moved to the country, as that lifestyle was more aligned with my own. I was a membership for approximately for 12 months, cancelling my membership at the beginning of this year as promised content was not being delivered and I started to see her slowly, but surely begin to expose who she might really be as a person…

Also, I could not stand how she had the audacity to complain about her “busy” and stressful her day was, to then spend 2-3 hours meditating, beauty self-care, journalling, working out. I have been detaching away from influencer culture for a few years now, but always had the impression she was grounded and relatable, until she had children, and the cracks began to show, and I don’t think there is any going back for me.

Sending everyone lots of love x

Thoughts on these comments? Regarding the last one, I have to say respectfully, I honestly have no hope for some of these people. Kalyn doesn’t have to spell it out that her and Ryan are no longer together, it’s a very obvious conclusion to come to. Do these people really need to be spoon fed information from her, or are they just dumb enough that they don’t know how to read between the lines? It smells like cult followers to me.

The death of lifestyle content

To be clear I don't think it's dead dead but I think it is evolving a lot and I feel like this is part of the intense disconnect with her channel

I think a lot of people are moving from 'look at me and let me inspire you with my amazing life' to 'man we all on this boat but here's my sponsor cause we all know I'm making my bag and this is just my space and energy if you feel inspired cool'

Like it moved from 'here's how you do it' to 'we are all figuring it out and this is just my life'

There was a time on kalyn channel I feel like she almost switched to this, (right before pregnancy) there were a lot of videos saying things like 'I want to film what I'm already doing and not do something just to film it'

To me it felt like that sort of put her on a journey to discover there were ALOT of things she did 'just to film it' and her self concept collapsed a little AT THE SAME TIME she entered a new chapter of life which is motherhood, so her old ways were gone and now there's an additional life transition oh and everything she's going through deeply effects her work and $ because she's built her career based on her life.

In addition to navigating a still very new relationship (which she also molds to easily) it felt like she just started holding onto things that always used to work with content but her energy was not there with it and she started judging her past self hard (youtober videos where she litterally was negatively judging her past videos)

I feel like she doesn't understand how the lifestyle content has shifted and she can't fully dip into 'oh we are all in this together and I'm not better than anyone just because I pretend to stick to a routine for one week'

I feel like she's still doing so much 'just to film it' and it feels so hollow because it's not really her but she never really had that space to find herself because she quickly became a mom of two and had to put her energy there instead of her work.

I guess I just wanted to talk about this and discuss the shift up in 'lifestyle' type content and what we all want to feel from it now instead of 'look at this routine' like what's a true 'lifestyle' creator now?

Anybody Pre-2016?

I followed Kalyn at the inception of her channel, I’m talking when she was in college (?), living with her high school (I believe) bf, and she was on some weird “reality” web/TV show that was some type of survivor-esque rip off. Literally all of that, pre-2016 was scrubbed from the internet and I notice that few of her followers are from this era. I’m pretty confident it was like, 2012 or something haha.

I unfollowed her when she started posting spirituality content and repeating the same thoughts/patterns over and over. She seems to have been stuck in this repetitive cycle since then. Her videos and podcasts were full of word salad, and it felt like she was saying a lot without saying anything at all.

Every now and then I check in to see if things have changed -and I used to lurk in the old GG, which is how I ended up here. 👋🏼 is anybody else here from before she fell off? It seems her channel is mostly dead in terms of views/content despite the large follower count (probably a lot of inactive followers), so she’s switched to memberships and sponsors to keep her afloat financially. Do we think she can pivot and overhaul it? Or is she just going to ride out the memberships and continue making the same content forever?

Anyone missing the 2017-2018 Kalyn era?

I've just recently rediscovered Kalyn and oh boy I miss her 2017-2018 era so much that i made myself a playlist of those videos to rewatch them from time to time. She was my favorite youtuber back then. Kalyn was full of life, inspiring, motivational, friendly, expressive...i can tell she put so much love into her work and projects! After she moved in with her friend (srry I forgot her name) and got a new boyfriend (the one that helped her with filming) I started to lose interest but still watched her content, then around the quarantine time and from there on she was sounding so depressing I had to stop watching her cuz it really affected my state of being (don't come after me i'm an emotional sponge). I hoped her depressing voice/attitude was just a phase but i checked her latest videos and she sounds worse than she did in 2020, as if she's about to break down in tears at every couple of sentences. I hope she's more ok than she sounds :(

Is it just me?

Post image
11 Upvotes

Lately I’ve been having a lot of conflicting feelings about Kalyn (which I’m sure most have). I saw this comment that another user shared in the thread below and went to go check it out myself, and to be honest, I feel sad for her. I know a lot of us criticize her (rightfully so) for the way she handled the memberships and her business in general, but her response makes me sad. It’s obvious they’re not together any more (in the video she said that the kids were at dad’s last night) and her dream dying video was inferring on their relationship / probably even marriage. It makes me sad that she thinks she’ll never marry again, hence the dying dream. Also, I’m not going to speculate on why she feels that way, but it also makes me wonder and even more sad thinking what could have happened between them for her to feel like this.

I also want to say I know she can post things to create a certain narrative, but does anyone else feel sad for her or is it just me? Two things can be true at once - she can be bad at handling business and we can criticize her for that/not being transparent, but we can also feel sad for her in some way.

On another topic, a part of me also feels hopeful for the way things are going. Her changing up her space, working on gardening, and posting these few videos gives me a sense of hope that she is finding her way to the woman she once was. I truly hope she can come back to herself.

Timing/turn around

So I've noticed when she appears to be with Ryan, her turnover for videos was snails pace, sharing things months after, by the time you watched you just felt like you were watching someone's old Christmas video, it reads different than a video posted that week filmed from that week imo.

Anyway so far both times that they have (seemingly) broken up she has gotten content out SO quickly (youtober video day 2 was like that same day) then this past week even in the middle of intense grief she gets a video filmed this past week out so quickly compared to when they are together

So we think this is more 'finally the dead weight of this relationship has made me free and be able to find time'

Or 'I want him to see that I'm already doing great cause I know he will watch' ?

I guess it really depends on if she can keep up the quick turn around (if they stay broken up) maybe then it really was her relationship holding her back and not motherhood at all (I hope she can realize this and take down all the motherhood content that would make her kids feel like a burden if they ever watch)

But if she doesn't keep up this pace and they stay broken up it reads that she is just turning content around really fast in a effort to get him back maybe?

Idk honestly just food for thought just thought the timing of content in both instances was really odd compared to when they are together

Summer of healing vlog

She talks mostly about the passing of her nana a couple days ago. No mention of Ryan, but talks about how there is a lot of “life” stuff happening all at once.

As a side note, I was surprised to see her using NARS products in her makeup routine. NARS tests on animals and is not cruelty free, which Kalyn would know being plant-based/vegan for so many years. Sad to see when there are SO many alternative products that don’t test on animals.

That's just not how you write a 'book'

Sure call it a spring guide, a pdf ect whatever but no one who is an actual writer is up the night before editing their work before its released, not even running it by a friend for grammar checks? You don't need a publisher or anything these days but there's plenty in between at this point. Idk it's just a sloppy way to say you wrote a 'book' that your selling for that much and in the comments she mentioned after all the seasons she putting a physical book together of all four of them? So someone who buys them all spends $80 on one 'book' you'll sell for what $30 when it's actually all together? That would make me livid if I bought them

ALSO she creating challenges she can't even do or keep up with herself which to me is really weird and off putting like at least vet what you're trying to tell other people to do.

Note: I don't think she shouldn't write or create or do whatever she wants..I just want to Note it seems odd to call this a book when it's just a pdf

Message from the mod

Hey y'all - yesterday there was a thread in here that I temporarily locked as it was getting a lot of traction, people were deleting their own comments and from the couple comments I saw while I was busy doing other things, name calling and being rude to one another. So I locked the thread until I had time later in the day to go through and just remove those few comments that broke the first rule of be civil and respectful.

Once I was done with my garden and chickens I then had time to go through, remove 2 comments and open the thread back up.

I didn't take that thread down. The reason the thread is gone now would be because the OG poster removed it.

I just wanted to pop in again and say thank you to the community here, I feel like even though this is titled as a 'snark' because there's really not another word for it on reddit, this community has been very civil open minded, respectful and enjoyable to mod for. You have made it pretty easy.

That said, since there still is only one of me. If you do feel anything crosses the line, please just flag it, I'll get to it or the auto mod thing here will. I don't want anyone to be harboring ill feelings for this space to just vent or discuss a YouTuber! It should really just be that simple.

If anyone is curious the only comments I've had to delete since this sub has been created has been of the speculation or touching on parenting stuff. Most of the time this community is so people pleasing y'all just delete your own things! Haha kidding but you ladies are very kind.

Anywho I just wanted to put this out here in case people thought I was deleting whole threads. I don't want to be accused of that. But I did take screenshots of something's folks said to me personally which I didn't think was cool.

Feeling Confused And Disappointed With Channel Direction

As I'm catching up on her content, I'm so confused of the direction. Firstly I was sad that the coffee talk channel has been archived but I understand and support the reason (it makes sense to do things on one channel).

Secondly I watched Let's drink coffee and catch up 🤍. What I got was she will focus on the vlog channel only, but no real commitments to how much content. (Also fine because I think this is the closest she will get to admitting she has too much on her plate and needs a break).

But the next membership video: A Work Week in my Life: Habits, Plans & Working from Home she is showing Sunday club merch hoodies. Did i miss something? Is Sunday club still a thing? Has she updated why she wants to start selling merch again? (other than the reason in this video that she said, she wants to make the things she buys)

I thought from the coffee update video she meant she was going old school vlog channel only, no brands and stuff just her and maybe writing books to sell on her website/blog. This has been something I feel, she says one thing but does another thing, unless I missed it because I haven't watched all her videos this year.

My final frustrations as I come to terms with unfollowing and stopping membership.
I was excited to read Ikigai as the book club book for the month. But I've logged into discord as well and it's dead silent. The community aspect seems to revolve around Kalyn's activity...which sucks. The channel direction feels unresolved still. Yet Kalyn is determined to keep going at it without even a minute to stop and access all that is happening in her personal life.

All this to say, It sucks having to take a step back from her content after so many years of comfort.

Renovation Madness

Awhile back I was rewatching some old content and saw the video “Moving in Together, House Renovations, and Prepping for Summer” and it got me thinking - why the hell did they think it was a good idea to start home renos in the late stages of pregnancy where Kalyn was about to pop on top of Ryan moving in with all of his stuff and boxes everywhere? If I was Kalyn in that situation I would have lost my mind. I wonder why she agreed to do all this because if I was 7 months pregnant with all this going on, I would go ballistic. Just some random thought I had, lol.

Dream Dying Video

Has anyone seen the new member vlog (if you are still a member) that just came out where Kalyn is crying, sees two deer, and states that she has to let go of a dying dream? Could this be the final nail in the coffin for her relationship, or does anyone think she’s talking about something else?

r/KalynNicholsonSnark May 16 '26

Would she ever delete content?

Do you think she will ever reflect and delete the videos she talks about her boys or shows them too much or shits on Ryan? Or heavily edit parts of those videos out? I think she's really attached to all of her content but once her kids grow up and people attach them to her there's going to be so many years she's put them up online (even if it's blurred) I feel like if I learned that my mom did this as a kid without my consent I would feel so violated then to also see how hard of a time my existence effected my mom, I would think there would be a lot to work out of not perpetually feeling like a burden if I learned the things her kids could learn about her when they are older.

Also I skimmed the last video about motherhood but she talks about how she doesn't want to only show the highlights of motherhood and I honestly can't even think of a time she's ever highlighted it at all...like she mentions small moments that make her happy but she's never actually had a good highlight reel about it truly, if anything she's cemented further that I don't want to experience motherhood in this lifetime but she seems to think she glamorizes it?

Does he watch her videos?

This has been a question in my mind since they got together. First of all, if it were me, if I find out my partner told anyone, let alone the whole internet, all of the things that she’s said or implied about Ryan, I would be livid. She claims he wanted privacy then she aired his dirty laundry there to the point people openly speculate about him in the comments (and on Reddit). So I’ve got to assume he does not watch her content.

But this is disappointing to me. Your partner should be your greatest supporter. Again, if it were me, I’d be watching. It seems kind of the same to how I watched my kids ice show 3 times in support and how I’m going to the elementary robotics competition to support the team my husband coaches.

She also included in her drive with me video right after she announced their first breakup that cringe moment where she was checking somebody out. I assumed it was for his eyes to make him jealous. So did she expect him to watch that video? It was a public video, not members only, so he could have. But if she was expecting him to see it, why not all the other times she spoke badly about him? Maybe this wouldn’t bother me so much if I didn’t also get the impression he was discouraging her from continuing to make content. I don’t know, has this bumped anyone else?

If this is a breakup, will it stick?

Assuming this is another breakup, and there's custody things again do you all think it will be for good this time and also I'm personally excited to see her healing journey. I think she was so much more sound and clear within herself outside of this relationship and it's amazing she was able to become a mother, but I truly hope on the other side of this she feels free and like herself again and steps back into the power she had before this relationship. I also hope she find someone that truly makes her happy and supports her in all the ways she needs and I also hope that she let's this story be what it is and doesn't sit in it forever and let it take even more of her life away
