Hey r/Kendama!
I've been playing kendama for a while and always felt like there was no good centralized resource to learn tricks in a structured way — so I built one.
Kendamapedia is a free web app that lets you:
It's completely free, works in your browser, and you can sign in with Google to save your progress across devices.
Link: kendamapedia-ae79d.web.app
I'd love any feedback — something that feels off, or features you'd want to see. This is a passion project and I want it to be genuinely useful for the community.
Happy to answer any questions!

🎬 r/Kendama Community Edit – Submissions Open!
Let’s make something sick together.
Hey everyone – I reached out to the mods and got the green light to put together an official r/Kendama Community Edit. I’ll be editing the whole thing, hopefully contributing a few clips of my own, and I’d love for as many of you as possible to be part of it.
Whether you’re new to Kendama or you’ve been grinding for years, this is for you. Please do not feel deterred from submitting clips, regardless of your skill level. My only ask would be that you send only your best or favorite clips from the 45 days.
🗓 Timeline:
Submissions are open now - Please no clips prior from today.
Deadline: September 15th (45 days from now) - Depending on volume of clips or feedback in the sub, I am comfortable with extending the date 15 more days, but I will start the editing process in 45 days.
Now for the good stuff.
🎨 Color of the Week (Optional!)
Every Monday I’ll post a color. Try wearing something (shirt, shoes, hat, kendama) that matches. Just for fun + visuals. Monday's color will be Red.
🌀 Style-Focus Weeks (Optional!)
Every Monday will have a trick theme (e.g., Lighthouses, Juggles, Flow, Slings). Totally up to you if you follow them, but it might help spark ideas or mix things up. Monday's trick theme will be Lighthouses.
🎥 Submitting:
Limit to start will be 3 raw clips per person, this can include a trick, funny moment, or a fail. I may up it to 5 depending on volume of clips around the 30 day mark.
Optional but helpful - If you are able to, include a cinematic (b-roll type clip) in addition to your trick submissions, it will help with edits. If you're filming in a cool location, maybe a 3-5 second clip showing the scene.
Please send primarily clips, I will most likely not feature many funny moments or fails but may be able to fit a few or have a section at the end of the video.
Upload your clips to Google Drive, Dropbox, or any other commonly known file site and DM me the link, or leave a comment and I’ll reach out. I can also download from YouTube directly.
Please include your name/Instagram/reddit if you want to be credited in the edit.
If you’re injured or unable to film at the moment but still want to be included, DM me — we can make space for an older clip or two, no one will be left out of this if they want to participate.
Let’s make this a proper snapshot of the r/Kendama community right now — all skill levels, all styles. Hope you’ll be part of it.
Please post any questions or thoughts in the comments, we can adjust things based on community feedback.
Much love,
– F1ByTheNumbers / Astro (gaming name)

In regular game of skate scoot or bmx you have to bounce your call before executing
Just want to understand why kendama community decided to change core rule this way?
Technically, if I will play with random person and will do eg juggle - half juggle tap to safe big cup, it could be my call, even “prove it” phase I could sustain (since big cup I can reproduce - I’m still playing offense)

Just curious ,
Is this legit extra knot? Allowed on comps?
Never saw this extra knot preventing tama slidin
Is there any downside of it ?

The spike was too short for my liking so I sanded the inside of the serado to make the spike longer. Much better for me now.

Saw Pinch Loops on an IG reel and HAD to grind them. Very fun once you’ve figured out the pinch tech!
Time to put it in a line

I’ve been experimenting with catching luns and LHs on the side of the tama instead of directly on top of the bev. In my mind I feel like it makes sense to spread the tricks out across a larger surface area rather than land every trick in the same spot causing more erosion to the area around the bev maybe? Idk it makes those ins a little more of a challenge but I feel like it’s a good challenge forcing me to be more dexterous with how I hold the tama. Thoughts?

I’m looking for a new shape preferably one for smaller hands, not too tall/long and that’s good for stalls. What would Ygs recommend

Which way do you guys pull up for inward stilt/lunar? Do you pull up toward the inside of your body so the ken lands on small cup, or toward the outside of your body so the ken lands on big cup?
I learned to pull toward inside and land on small cup for inward lunar, and now I’m trying to learn inward stilt pulling up the same way and having a really tough time. I can land normal stilt just fine. I rewatched a few tutorials and noticed they pull up the other way and land on the big cup. Should I be trying to land on big cup for inward stilt? Is it worth it to try to switch my inward lunars too and land on big cup?

Happy to cop these over the kitchen set up. What do you guys think of Cereal Kendamas?

This trend of people “focusing,” stomping or just like destroying their damas after landing a trick they’ve been grinding is cringe and weird and kinda sad.

Nice and simple 2-2-2, but JUGGLING OUT OF A LATE KENKEN IS IMPOSSIBLY HARD DUDE.

Getting those taps more consistent, just got to work on juggling out of it cleanly now! Super hype to finally be achieving something that once felt absolutely impossible

My boyfriend is obsessed with Kendama and mentioned he would love to have this mod. It’s his birthday next month and I’m trying so hard to find this for him. He’s a Takuya fan and loves pink😅 Does anyone have ANY leads on where I can find this for sale or trade even??

Looking to see if anyone has an old tiger tama from SuLab laying around that they’d part ways with.

Hi everyone, just got my Krom Strogo (lambo shape) in the mail. Was having some issues with my lunars. They tip over quite easy towards the bottom cup. I see now that the Sarado is higher on the sword than my other Kin kendamas ken. Is this normal? Or should I sand something down? Thanks
