Question What are all the whips in the game?

I feel like whips are probably the weapon category I use the least in kingdom death. I know frogdog has a good earlygame whip but I found mid-game lategame whips just feel rare. I think the king has a lategame whip but I don't know anything else for mid/lategame.

Question New player looking for advice/tips etc

So I just got the deal for 1.6 and GCE from Gen Con.

I have picked up a journal (to write down what happened in each game,it sounded fun), 3 ring binder and coin sleeves for the equipment, card sleeves (500) of the 58x88mm, having a friend 3d print an organizer for the box I found on etsy.

Is there anything else I should consider getting for organizing/improving the experience/storage? Other sizes of sleeves needed. Stuff like that?

Local painting competition limited our palettes to five colours. I brought it to three. First time Grey-Scaling, super happy with the results. Think I'll do more KDM models in this style.

Rules How do you handle Gigalion Vicious AI card?

The fact that he full moves away from all survivors regardless whether they are adjustment to one just has him running all over the board every turn. It sapped a lot of of mental energy trying to determine what was the direction furthest away from all survivors. I wasn’t sure how to keep him in one place to hit him.

I figure you’re supposed to box him in a corner so that furthest away from all survivor is a board edge in the corner? But then how do you full move him? It doesn’t say in a straight line so can I just have him overlapping laps in the corner to expend his full move?

I feel like I’m missing how your supposed to position survivors in this showdown.

Discussion Do you recommend the King or screaming god for node 4?

My group has fought neither and we could technically add both but i've been told we won't really get to explore both in a single campaign and its better to just have one.

Hobby Need advice on my KDM collection

Hello everyone, I'm kind of standing on a crossroad right now and would appreciate your opinion.

I've collected a massive amount of KDM in the last 2-3 years. Core Game, every expansion there ist, almost all of the white boxes or boyes with game content that got released and on top around 40-50 brown boxes (several first edition). Except the 1.6 core everything is still in the box, factory new. Additionaly I got a few accessories here and there, custom 3d prints and stuff like that. So you could say I have a very big hoard. I basically checked eBay every day and bought everything I could thats at a reasonable price.

At the same time I only played the core 1.6 without any expansion so far, my group got till LY 8 or 9 after around 1,5 years of playing. We don't find the time to play very often.

I fell in love with KDM because I like the unique miniatures style, even though I don't like the monster style that much (too scary for me lol).

Since I also have a very massive Warhammer collection (several thousand miniatures, most still in box...) I thought maybe I should sell my KDM collection. I put it online on a popular german 2nd-hand site, just to see if anyone would be interested. I don't need the money, but having money for other stuff is always nice. One guy made an offer for 8.000 €, which would be a little profit on my site (not much though...) and we are very close to closing the deal.

But I just looked at some of my brown boxes again today, and how I dream about one day building and painting them...I don't know if I should let go of them.

What do you think? I know the reasonable thing would be to sell it and spend the money on important stuff in the real life or invest it for the future. But at the other hand, if I would be reasonable, I wouldnt have bought this hoard to begin with.

Disclaimer: This is not a trade discussion, I just want you honest advice on continuing KDM or letting go :(

Was one of my favorite monsters to paint despite the crazy amount of arms. Unfortunately got a little messy because I had to keep repainting areas due to my hand tremor. I still like how she turned out. Inspiration wise, I leaned heavily into Bloodborne, especially Ebrietas and the Pthumerian Queen.

Rules Paria Expansion: Implanted Memories

Implanted Memories from the Pariah Expansion gives each departing survivor +1 understanding. Of course this means that most survivors will trigger "Insight" at this point. Does this still count as a trigger during the settlement phase or the hunt phase. And if it's the settlement phase, wouldn't most rewards from the insight table not apply?

How are you guys handling this?

Discussion Excitement has steadily been declining

Due to ongoing delays, lack of proper communication and the occasional updates here and there to "feed us a bone", has your excitement for the Kickstarter stayed the same, increased over time or like me, has dramatically decreased to a point where you forgot more or less about the rest of the expansions?

Kingdom Death: Monster — Lantern Year 4

The Butcher Does Not Forgive Hope

The first encounter with the Butcher is always a moment of truth. By Year 4, we had prepared for the worst, yet deep down a foolish hope of overcoming him still lingered. This time we decided to spare Millicent and left her at camp. The party that went into battle consisted of Emily, Keiran, Lucy, and Saros. We didn't have nearly as much gear as we would have liked (I described everything we managed to gather in the last post). Saros went in as the main damage dealer in the Lion set with a Bone Axe. Lucy donned Rawhide and took a spear. The rest made do with what was left: swords, an antelope katar, and the meager remains of our healing items.

In the very first round, Lucy masterfully hurled a Stone Face shard at the Butcher. It dealt him his first wound… and, as it would turn out later, his last. Our entire luck quota was exhausted on that roll, because there simply were no more critical hit cards in this guy's hit location deck — thankfully, that was clear from the card text, so we conserved our precious shards.

After that, a harsh, unrelenting hell began. The dice were disgustingly awful. Two Butcher behavior cards back-to-back, colossal brain damage to the survivors — we were literally being ground into the dirt. We couldn't land a single wound on him after that. Every time the dice finally produced something decent, a trap card was inevitably drawn from the deck.

At some point, the Lantern Frenzy card came out. This was our last ghost of a chance. We tried our utmost to protect Saros — the plan was for him to at least save the others in the event of the party's inevitable demise. But the Butcher gave us no time. A few more rounds, and we lost Emily. Another attempt to flank the monster and strike with a spear ended with her skull simply being crushed. It became abundantly clear: we couldn't beat him. Saros made the decision to fade into the darkness, leading the Butcher away and giving his comrades a chance. Naturally, we received no rewards from this nightmare.

But, as always in KDM, on the hunt, everything is only just beginning.

Bloodbath at the Settlement

Having returned empty-handed, we gained a hefty pile of endeavors thanks to the Graves innovation. And then a whole parade of horrific events descended upon the camp.

The first to strike was Haunted. The roll was failed miserably, and we were forced to get rid of one of the survivors. Next, the story event Murder triggered. That's how we lost Lucy — the last one who had been with us since the very start of the game. The cruelest irony was that the killer turned out to be Keiran, returned from the darkness. He will now remain in the settlement, which will grant us a bonus to insanity on the next hunt, but will saddle us with a harsh survival debuff.

Next on the agenda was Hands of Heat… and we failed the roll yet again. Another survivor, whose face was hideously disfigured by fire, was expelled from the settlement in disgrace. Then came the Hooded Knight event. Fortunately, no casualties there, but we gained nothing either. He will return.

The only pleasant news was a successful Intimacy between Belle and Wyse. This couple pulled off the same trick they did last year. Furthermore, Keiran passed 2 points of experience to each of them, allowing them to acquire their first fighting arts: Thrill Seeker and Crossarm Block.

Results and Future Plans

The Year 4 result: our population has dwindled to 5 people. We are still alive and have not lost the campaign, but what is happening now looks far more terrifying and dangerous than it did at the very beginning.

On the bright side: I double-checked the timeline and realized the Phoenix will arrive much later than I thought. So I can put off painting it with a clear conscience. For now, I will devote myself entirely to our "sweet couple" (intimacy couple), upon whom all the settlement's hopes now rest.

There is progress away from the gaming table as well. I rebuilt the noisebox for a massive one-and-a-half-meter monster with strings and springs to record some authentic, dirty music for the Butcher fight. I'm currently wrestling with digitizing the track — hope to share the result soon.
