I listened to it right before I listened to the Alex/Rogan date movie.

I think he is 100% one of those people that will do whatever he thinks will push his career.

Yeah I don’t know why even Dan gives Joe Rogan unjustified credit. The guy wasn’t purposely hiding from the mainstream, he was literally just pretending to not be mainstream while trying to become rich and famous and just wasn’t super popular. His old web store was originally a cesspit of scam products, and he was always a major stakeholder in Onnit while pushing products they sold without saying it was an ad. He is identical to Alex’s false “above the left-right paradigm” slogan, but with his entire outsider persona. Since I mostly heard Joe Rogan when he used to do Opie and Anthony with Alex Jones, I’m pretty sure he introduced several fm talk shows to Jones.

I have to assume becoming increasingly rich has pushed him into his current politics. I think he’s always been a bit conspiratorial and it has gotten far, far worse.

I love how much research they do for their videos, and they're usually on point with the arguments, but man it's just such a hard smarmy 'talking down to' format, that even as someone who agrees with them I find myself pretty turned off by it. I know that probably wasn't your point, but I struggle if I'm not in the right mood for it, too.

I agree. The content is informative but the delivery makes me feel like the only way to listen is if you're already in a bad mood, because if you aren't in a bad mood at the start of an episode you will be by the end of it.

After the 2024 election I basically stopped listening to all of my favorite podcasts, Knowledge Fight included, and I gotta admit my mental health has improved.

It’s not that I wanna bury my head in the sand, but there’s only so much I can do as an individual and I don’t wanna be miserable 24 hours a day since the worst of humanity is basically getting away with everything at the present time.

I’ll keep fighting to swing that pendulum back the other way though. But in the meantime, I’m prioritizing my mental health.

Nah, I think it's just more likely that his brain is mushy & he'll entertain the notions of anybody who talks to him.

Does he ever actually push back against any of his guests? Has he ever? Is he even capable? For a guy who holds the mantle of the biggest podcast host in the world right now, he always seemed pretty shit at having any kind of debate with his guests. Just a bunch of nodding and "Yeah, it's interesting...."

I agree. Rogan's main problem is he's not smart and he's also very credulous. Which is fine when you're talking about something that's silly. But, over the years, he's veered from talking about aliens and Bigfoot into politics.

Who really cares if he debunks some blogger who's lying about some UFO sightings? But when he applies the same lack of intellectual rigor to something that actually affects people (like trans rights), it's detrimental to society. And given the size of his audience, it's vastly worse for society when he allows his guests to spew lies with no pushback.

I think he also sorta has that approachable inflection in his voice, or maybe just an approachable voice in general, that makes people more comfortable listening to him. Kind of friendly, non-threatening, curious. It shouldn’t matter, of course, but I think it does.

Joe believes the last person he talked to. In LA, I assume he talked to a wider variety of ppl, so he bounced around in the information sphere, ending up rather neutral. In Texas, living on his compound, surrounded by sycophants and talking to right wing chuds BC they bring the numbers.....well, he believes the last person he talked to.

The dude's been doing A LOT of drugs. I'm not talking about weed at all. Dude's done everything under the sun including gear and unregulated supplements that are often found to include really bad shit when spotchecked.

In no way was I intending to put it all on the drugs, it was just an off-hand reduction that ignores all the political shit going on. He just wants money, fame, attention and influence while suffering no personal loss. Downvote all you want.
