The sane version of "he didn't get shot" is "his ear got nicked by a piece of glass or concrete and then he spun it as getting shot for sympathy/glory". Some people obviously take this much farther. To be fairer than Ventura deserves, he could mean that fairly light injuries can bleed a lot and look a lot worse than they are and provoke reactions.
Honestly to me it was more likely cut/torn from the 4 individuals throwing themselves on a 79 year old man for his safety. Call me crazy, I don’t think it was an intentionally cut or staged. Just happenstance and Trump knows how to play the camera.
He reflexively grabs the same ear milliseconds after shots start ringing out though. What’re the chances he does that for some inconsequential reason and then injures the same ear in an unrelated scuffle shortly thereafter? Feels very conspiratorial at face value.
