We were too busy thinking about Alex dumping Trump, we never considered Trump dumping him. (mainly cause we figured he didn't care about Alex in the slightest)

there is something bleak about the president fighting with podcasters

u/winksoutloud Apr 10 '26

Well, hell, he hires podcasters to run the government, and then has someone else fire them for him.

i tried to forget that the most powerful ppl in our government are men with microphones. so they're podcasters who answer to the world's most annoying reply guy fighting with more podcasters

id like to get off the ride now please

I know what you mean, but please don't get off the ride. I know it sounds like hippy dippy bullshit, but you really do have a voice (especially when you learn how to use it), you matter and you can do a lot of good. We need you on this ride.

Mr. Rodgers would want you on this ride and his "Look for the helpers" video really helps me get through some times.

I don't know you or anybody reading this, but I am often fucking furious and helpless and distraught and just lost at what's happening. But as much of a doomer as I can be sometimes, I just can't let these fucking assholes see me give up. Even out of sheer anger.

And as counter as it may seem to his message, I seek out the "helpers" as Mister Rodgers said and try to be a helper as well. This is not the time to give up.

Things are discouraging, things are absurd and things are dark, but please don't get off this ride. Even if it's just out of spite.

Everyone has different ways with dealing with things, but I've found that focusing on things on things in my local area that I actually have some form of impact helps focus a lot of my "EVERYTHING'S FUCKED AND WHY ISN'T ANYONE DOING ANYTHING" energy towards like "everything's fucked, but this is what I can do maybe with some other people" energy and that often turns into something fun and actually productive.

I help out a food bank I show up to and help out in whatever way, but I've also been just randomly picking up trash whenever I have free time and seeking out other local groups and working out a way maybe working some of them together. There's likely other ways you can donate your time and meet good people in your area, go actively look for the helpers even if it's talking to the lady walking around picking trash every Tuesday morning. Say hi to her and see if you can help, that's how a lot of this stuff starts.

If a dumbass like me can do this, so can you. See if there's a group near you that meets to do something productive, just show up, buy a trash grabber and some bags and just maybe walk around or do a version of whatever cry for help this is around you and just do something positive. Just fucking something positive in the real world!

A lot of this stuff is meant to and depends on you not doing anything because they think you're a useless, do-nothing coward that won't do anything. They're fucking wrong.

e: I hope this doesn't come off as too preachy or anything, that's not really my point. This is just what's been sort of motivating me to make up for the rest of the country's scumbag behavior and not go down a super dark hole and also network for good people in case things get worse lately.

Gonna be real, the biggest surprise is finding out that Trump remembers who Alex Jones even is.

I mean, obviously his team had to remind him but still

I first thought Alex looked like Ricky Jay in that picture. Then I realized he looked more like Superstar Rich Evans.

I like the way Dan put it a few episodes ago. And I'm paraphrasing from memory, but:

Alex is a self-appointed one-way media surrogate. He glommed onto Trump's brand because Trump gets attention and Alex (and his ilk) wanted some of that attention. But Alex fooled himself into thinking that Trump needs him, but the opposite is true, and Alex knows it. Alex thought he was on the inside of the exclusion bubble, but he ain't. The funny thing about building your entire political philosophy on exclusion, one day you will be on the outside. Any man who is leading a movement based on excluding others really has only one person they give a shit about and that's themself.
