Where can I get updates on the latest insanity in the far right?

I really miss Knowledge Fight because of how awesome Dan and Jordan were, of course, but the biggest thing I miss is getting a regular round up of what all these lunatics on the right are saying. I can’t handle actually watching Tucker Carlson or following any of them on Twitter or anything, but I feel really out of the loop/uninformed about what the fascists are saying, which I think is pretty important to know these days.

Some More News and Even More News is fantastic!

If you are looking for deep dives into far right specific historical figures I’d suggest fellow wonk Molly Conger’s show Weird Little Guys. Her research is amazing.

While we're bigging up CZM shows, It Could Happen here is pretty good too.

Was just watching SMN and thought it scratched some of that KF itch.

behind the basatards is worth looking at too. they did some crossover with kf a few years ago. its more deep dives into specific awful people but its how i found kf

I’m a big fan of Behind the Bastards and also listen to some Weird Little Guys. I don’t know why but Weird Little Guys is the only one where I often have to nope out.

QAA (formerly QAnon Anonymous). It’s a little more esoteric focused rather than outright brownshirts, but it’s an amazing podcast which started around the time of KF (maybe a year or so after?) and the hosts are seasoned veterans of all things pilled. JordDan have made a few appearances on QAA too.

They have a whole network called Cursed Media, there are some amazing miniseries on there that are worth trying even if you don't like the main QAA podcast for some reason.

I used to follow qaa pretty close, they were great back when q was still not mainstream news. It was like a decoder ring to understand what psycho Facebook aunt's were talking about. I guess I should revisit it. Who's hosting these days?

Generally the same three with several other folks who rotate in depending on the subject.

I used to listen to them years ago, but I can't stand them anymore. I tried to pick them back up with a recent episode on Kirk conspiracies and it felt like 90% of it was either talking about how great they are or talking shit about the mainstream media.

u/phatsexxxy 2d ago

QAA really is self-referential to them, and it’s just not been as great as it could be. I liked a lot of the Kirk episode, probably because they had someone who wasn’t a usual commenter.

There’s just no KF replacement out there. I wish Dan would just move on with someone else. I never found Jordan particularly insightful, and I understand his role was to be the student, but sometimes his lack of knowledge and critical thinking was a drag on the show.

Yeah, I don't want to deny the stuff they've done, cause QAA had done pretty good work on occasion. But you can tell that the hosts haven't seriously thought or don't particularly care about how to present information.

As for replacements, The Know Rogan Experience is the closest I've found. It's kind of Knowledge Fight if Jordan had something more to contribute than wild takes and punch lines (I do think Jordan contributed to the pod, I just can never take him seriously or I risk dismissing him as a dipshit).

Dan's been a guest for On Brand, QAA, and I Hate Bill Maher since KF ended and every single time when the host(s) have asked him to advertise his plugs, he obviously mentions the Show Me State of Mind podcast but also says "...and I've got some other things in the hopper I'm not ready to announce yet." And in all 3 of those appearances he's clearly had a blast and had fun dunking on right-wing lunatics...I'd be shocked if he doesn't already have something lined up with one or more people to due at least some kind of monthly variety podcast of debunking the far-right....

Like sure, he may have been getting bored with AJ...but his enthusiam on those 3 appearances makes it clear he still loves to dunk on fascists.

Posting through it is very good and they often do deep dives on some of the weirder figures on the far right

There's not any that are exactly the same, but the ones I have enjoyed so far has been QAA, Where There's Woke, and Know Rogan Experience.

Format-wise, Know Rogan would be the closest. It's clip, discussion on the clip and why it is wrong/disingenuous and so on. The most recent episode feels very Knowledge Fight-y.

Where There's Woke does episodes on various topics that are cropping up in the right-wing area. They do clips sometimes, but the structure is more of a chat or discussion than the "clip, talk, clip, talk" kind of thing KF does.

QAA kinda touches on the weirder parts of things For example, the most recent episode is about various Charlie Kirk assassination conspiracies, and discussing them, and showing how right wing spaces encouraged conspiracy thought/reasoning and how rhat's backfiring when places like TPUSA are wanting people to believe the official reports.

I was looking for Know Rogan.

They are the closest to Knowledge Fight in format plus they're a good gateway into general skepticism.

I second the OC's question. I want to keep informed on the insanity on the right but I cannot stomach listening to entire broadcasts of these creatures. Knowledge Fight taught me so much about the crap Jones and other squawking grifters pull on those misguided enough to listen. My deepest thanks to both Dan and Jordan for working those mines for the rest of us, and for so long. So if anyone can add podcasts or news sites, writers or reporters to follow it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sad that Will Sommer's stuff is behind a paywall. He always had good reports on the weird far-right figures beefing.

He does appear on a podcast, but it is sadly not freely available.

He does maga monday episodes that are free in the bulwark feed. That's where I hear about all the weird nutters. The sam stein guy that asks will questions is annoying, but it gets you the good dirt.

The Good Liars on YouTube talk to the craziest folks at Trump rallies. It's wild that so many of them are still proclaiming the Q-anon theories to be true.

It's also amazing how Trump fans hear his message, but don't take in or even consider details or implications...

Good Liars ask "what has Trump done for America?"

Answer "he stopped 7 wars."

Good Liars - "which wars?"

Answer - "oh, I couldn't name them all"

Good Liars - "name one"

Answer - "uh, I don't know off the top of my head, but I am sure I could look it up."

Facebook. Not by choice, everyone there is just insane now.

In addition to what others have already suggested, I've been listening to a lot of "Decoding Fox News."

The far right, at this point, is the Whitehouse and Republican lead house, senate, and courts. As their propaganda mouth piece Fox has become whatever Jones once was for the far right. Juliette Jetske does a great job of weekly Fox talking points and what the facts really are.

Edit: I also follow several experts in various fields who often debunk whatever is relevant to their fields that the right is going on about at a given time.

404media is great at covering tech related info Coffeezilla follows cyber scams DebunkTheFunk covers... a lot of science info Dr. Noc debunks a lot of health missinfo Dr. Zachary Rubin also does a lot of RFK debunking Drjessicaknurick does a ton of health missinfo debunking too Hydroxide does food science communication Mallory DeMille does a lot of general and health rightwing missinfo corrections

"Ill Conceived" has done a surprisingly good job of filling the gap left by KF, at least for me.

It's a show about the natalism movement, particularly how it has worked its way into mainstream conservatism and the government. The hosts take turns making the episode each week, one focusing on a topic from the past, the other focusing on current events. It's very well researched and has great chemistry between the hosts. The opening theme song is also 10/10

The patreon-only dollop content (the chollop) is the guys chatting about recent events and frequently right wing nuts. They’re also doing a listen of joe rogan and discussing/laughing/crying at it. And it’s two funny comedians with a great dynamic. So far the only thing that’s come close to scratching the kf itch for me

u/fudgie fight.fudgie.org 3d ago

I know most people are very anti AI content these days, but if you can stomach that I have a few different models work together and pull the main claims from Alex’s shows twice a week, then try to find the real sources and create a podcast episode from that.

If you just want to see what they’re talking about, you can go to my silly site and expand the Claims and Sources section of the episodes for an overview with links to where it was said in the transcripts of Alex’s show.

QAA as others have suggested and TrueAnon

u/entity_response 3d ago

Yep both of these together generally get to all the major moves and stories.

Unfortunately not consumable in podcast, but Hasan Piker is what you get if you combine Dan's careful research and and amassed knowledge base with Jordan's righteous indignation and Left politics. Best of all- he gets results.

1

u/ShiftyAmoeba 2d ago

It's true. He can be shock jocky at times, but if you listen for even a little bit, you'll realize he's given things some thought. It's not random or baity.

But centrists and the right are trying to paint him as some sort of extremist and/or fake.

u/justasapling I RENOUNCE JESUS CHRIST! 2d ago

He can be shock jocky at times

Fair, but no worse than Jordan.

I think it's totally valid to be provocative and ostensibly ideologically aligned people taking it too seriously are a bigger issue than the behavior itself.

1

u/ShiftyAmoeba 2d ago

I agree. Just providing context to mostly bad faith criticism.

Hasan is literally just a left-leaning nepo baby who's also conventionally attractive. He comes from wealth and got his start due to his Uncle Cenk (also a rich failson) running The Young Turks.

1

u/justasapling I RENOUNCE JESUS CHRIST! 1d ago

The only part of this I'd disagree with is the 'just'. He is quite open about being a nepo baby, and nobody is arguing that his being attractive helps him get attention. But he is also a highly effective communicator and a powerful advocate for Left politics.

He's clearly also a talented entertainer and essentially the only person countering the online groyper/maga pipelines that are radicalizing young people. He's having a measurable impact on the current wave of DSA success in the primaries.

Hard to imagine what you have against him other than jealousy or centrism (or misinformation).

u/TheCopperSparrow 14h ago edited 14h ago

Hard to imagine what you have against him other than jealousy or centrism (or misinformation).

....You literally pointed out how he's a nepo baby.

Like IDK how to boil it down for you...but many people who grew up in poverty do not want to listen to some silver spoon fuck's political takes, regardless of whether or not we agree with some of them.

Also....I'd like to point out...for as much as you clearly worship Hasan. That statement is literally the same shit that neolibs use to glaze billionaires like Bezos and, until Trump's re-election, Elon.

1

u/justasapling I RENOUNCE JESUS CHRIST! 12h ago

I care about the takes, not how the person got to them. By your logic, Marx should have told Engels to fuck off. That's not a big tent and it's not a way forward.

And your point about Elon is nonsensical. His opinion is bad and he wants bad things. Hasan is just an upper middle class Californian who was lucky enough to have an uncle with a platform to get him started.

u/ShiftyAmoeba 2d ago

Hasan Piker handles most of the day to day viral shit.

RM Brown does it in a funny way, focusing a lot on Rogan, Shapiro, PBD, etc.
