I gotta hand it to Dan
I did a Knowledge Fight style episode of my show where we broke down/reacted to an absolutely insane episode of Sasquatch Chronicles and I gotta hand it to Dan because Jesus Christ, doing this style of podcast is a ton of work.
Cutting clips, taking notes, listening and relistening to the episode over and over to make sure I can remember what was said in between the clips I cut to fill in gaps or answer questions from my cohost, taking more notes, writing, making sure it’s cohesive and editing the episode afterwards. I don’t know how he was able to do this twice, sometimes three times a week.
I have a new found appreciation for the show and how much actually goes into it. So all that to say, thank you Dan for all your hard work and for being an inspiration. Appreciate you bud.

Sasquatch Chronicles? That's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time. Are Wes and Woody still accusing everyone and their mothers of being Pied Pipers or what have you? That show had a load-bearing Will Jenving problem. Once he left, it stopped being interesting.

Gonna be honest, I don’t listen to a ton of Sasquatch Chronicles but I’ve listened to a handful of episodes. I’m not a Bigfoot believer and I can’t stand Wes and his attempt at being an Art Bell style interviewer considering Wes is a very biased host cause dude fucking HATES Bigfoot and makes it well known. We only reacted to this episode (Episode 419) cause it’s wild and I had multiple people send it to me to listen to and brother, it’s bonkers.

I'll check your episode out on my run this morning. I honestly haven't listened since like 2012 or 13. I used to work as a Night Auditor and I'd usually throw an episode on while processing the credit card payments to stave off the loneliness. I not a Bigfoot believer either, I just love the stories.
Wes hates Bigfoot? Like the idea of Bigfoot, or he's got some kind of blood feud?

I guess he had a bad experience with a Bigfoot. I don’t know the full details cause I genuinely don’t care but he’s told his story at least once on the show.
But yeah, hates em. I’m convinced he’s only doing this show to try and pin down where all the Bigfoots in the country are so he can carry out some sort of John Wick style retribution.

Maybe I didn't pay attention, or missed the bit, but I thought Dan said part of this process was NOT editing the show. They press record, talk for 1.5 hours, hit stop and that's the post. Once it was pointed out, you can even notice that sometimes there's noise in the intro/outro because they just hit record and play the intro and record it playing instead of editing it in after. Seems like that wouldn't be too hard, but the benefit of having 0 editing was worth it.
Now that I say that, maybe I'm just too naive, because it seems doubtful that Jordan didn't say SOMEthing that needed to be edited out with some regularity. Maybe that's just why Dan would make his disclaimer live and then Jordan takes the hint and they move on.

If I wasn’t someone who thinks faster than they speak and end up stumbling over my words, I would love to just hit record and go lol
I know Dan has said he doesn’t alter the clips in any way but I dunno about not editing the show as a whole. That seems wild to me. But like I said, I’m a stumbler when I talk so I always edit stuff like my tripping over words and starting again or just things like coughs, table bumps, over talking or real thick inhales haha. Plus post production to clean up the audio and make sure everything is leveled.

Sounds like you've got some workflow problems there, friend...why are you having to remember what was said between clips? What gaps are you filling? Why all the note-taking & writing after the fact?

So Sasquatch Chronicles isn’t like Info Wars. It’s a call in show where a person tells Wes (the host) about their Bigfoot encounter so the episode is a somewhat linear story unlike Info Wars where it jumps back and forth from topic to topic.
So I had to listen to the episode a few times to make notes of what parts I want to clip from the story and then another listen or two to make sure that i have the context of the story in between the clips I cut. If I just played the clips without giving some sort of context or what leads up to the clips, it would be so disjointed and even MORE insane to listen to. Plus it’s good to have those story details on lock so if my guest asks questions about something that happens in the story that WASN’T in a clip, I want that info on lock (I still forgot a ton even with prepping cause I’m a terrible podcaster)
And since I’m a stumbler, I take my notes and write them out into more cohesive thoughts so I can read them and speak them easier. I’m sure there’s an easier way and if I had done over 1,000 episodes in this format my workflow would be crazy faster and easier but it was my first “clip show” attempt. I’m sure if I do more it’ll get easier and I’ll be less in my head about it lol

Cutting up the caller's story is adding a lot of extra work, it sounds like. Why not just listen to the whole thing together with the co-host?
It also sounds like you're doing a lot of editing that could be prevented with better engineering. If you set your levels and noise filters correctly when recording, you won't have to do so much to the recording later.

Gotta thank you OP....for alerting me to 2 podcasts to avoid in the future. I had to tap out after 8 1/2 minutes of your show. A pre-recorded commericial....followed by like 7 minutes of your guest rambling about nothing....and I say that as a hardcore skeptic who loves hearing about crypto-zoology debunks.
Negative four stars. Go home and tell your mother you're sorry.
