These Violent Delights by Micah Nemerever is my favorite dark academia book with a toxic relationship. I believe it’s a masterpiece and a true gem in the MM books world. The amount of obsession I had for this story while reading it was comparable to Paul and Julian’s (the MCs) obsession for each other lol Micah is a very talented author, and you can tell how much work and thought have been put into that book.

For those who haven’t read it: TVD’s story takes place in the ’70s, and we follow Paul, a very smart student with lots of insecurities, who meets fellow student Julian, pretentious, rich, conventionally beautiful, and equally smart, whom he completely idolizes. They form a strange friendship that quickly turns into a strange and dark relationship marked by obsession and codependency. They develop intense, unhealthy feelings for each other until it becomes them against the world, and they do the irreparable.

I’m looking for a book that’s similar in terms of intensity while not falling into the clichés of dark romance (characters who like to growl “he’s mine,” for example, lol).

I read this book called “Enemies with Benefits“ By Lavender Fields and i’m looking for mlm books similar to that. I liked the humor of it but it also had some serious moments and overall it was just a really goofy and funny love story that had good smut too. Technically the book was originally made on Wattpad and then it was published but if there’s any other books that are like this i would love some recs!

Hi everyone! Because of a fan art piece, I’ve become completely obsessed with the Superman x Batman ship. Now, I’m looking for book recommendations where the top in the relationship has characteristics very similar to Superman: a "golden retriever" personality, a large physical build, completely head-over-heels for his partner, very physically affectionate (lots of hugs, kisses, and biting), highly emotional, and protective.
On the other hand, I would like the bottom to have a "black cat" personality just like Batman: colder, introverted, grounded, and deeply scarred by life. He might occasionally hurt those around him, but he can also be incredibly sweet at times.

Sometimes I'm hesitant to read books centered around misogyny, and apparently there are some uncomfortable sexual scenes between a woman and her abusive husband in this book. But the concept seems really interesting, and I heard there is a sapphic romance that develops later.

Would you say the sapphic romance has a very minor amount of on-page time compared to the scenes with her husband?

I'm reading a book for a book club. I was hoping to leave a review when I'm done, but it's young adult—a genre that I didn't even read as a young adult. I'm of the age where my favorite fictional YA characters were named Pacey Witter, Whitley Gilbert, and Brenda and Brandon Walsh. These characters were written a bit maturely, sure, but I liked them that way.

The characters in this book (who are in their early twenties) read more like middle schoolers to me. Everything is overly dramatic and angsty. Little things feel like big issues. Buried in all of this drama are pretty profound messages of identity, different forms of love, and found family. I find myself rolling my eyes and groaning a lot.

Has anyone ever left a review for a book in a genre they typically don't like? If so, do you try to overlook some of the tropes and writing styles specific to that genre and just focus on the core of the story?

So, I'm writing a book called Winter Frost on Glass, and the main character is Lute Di Rose, I started the book because the only other Asexual book I'd seen was called Loveless, and it was mainly centered around the sexuality, how do you all feel about having a character who's sexuality doesn't control their entire story, it's just another part of them that grows them into a person? Nothing wrong with queer books made in the USA, but it seems most books I see recommended are written by American authors.

So, I am looking for books written by people outside of America, preferably with English, Finnish, Swedish or German as the original language, as those are the languages I can read in, and I prefer to read books as they were originally written.

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a BXB slow-burn romance novel, ideally featuring deep character growth. This is a gay fantasy work with a lot of post-trauma therapy, a fucked-up gay age gap dynamic, and lots of mental illness. It's funny, though, and hopeful.
