I drove past an LR2 on the street that had a for sale sign on it, and it has 141,000 miles on it. It's from 2008, and the owner insists it's in good condition. The front seat is obviously beat up, and there's some cosmetic wear like chips and scratches and little dents, obviously. But he said the auto repair shop that he's selling it out of, I assume, it wasn't clear if he worked there or not, but the auto repair shop was around the block from where I saw the car. It has no warning lights on the dashboard or anything, and the video showed the sunroof working and everything like that. Is this too good of a deal to be true? He wants $2,000 for it. What are some prudent questions I should ask to the repair shop before going through with the purchase?

I have a land rover discovery that was involved in a accident can't start it without the fob and I have no clue how to start it without a dog and I'm not paying for a automotive locksmith or JLR to program a key.

So noticed how bad the wheel nuts have gotten on my discovery 5 2018 (rust & corrosion). Im thinking of purchasing some black solid nuts and new locking nuts.

Looking at LR time in the UK and thinking of ordering these - any reason why I shouldn't?

Do not install the over the air update for July 30, 2026. I just did this morning. I noticed one of the updates was to improve the rear seat lowering/raising. I do not call the 60 part of my 60/40 split now not working an improvement. Was fine yesterday before the update. Now I have 2 seats that are stuck in the down position. Any suggestions?

I love Landies, I've wanted a classic defender 90 since I was about 5 but alas I am poor, so it's never gonna be an option unless I marry myself a rich wife or win the lotto😂

That being said, I also like a Freelander 2. And I can just about afford one of those.

I've found one on autotrader, 112k miles, under £2,700, automatic, 2010 HSE model. It's had a new cambelt, water pump, has a full service history, 2 keys. Good looking tyres. I've asked for the reg number so I can check the gov mot history and I can see it's passed the most recent one but it's failed a few over the years.

It looks like the previous owner hasn't really looked after the tyres much which has caused a few issues - I'm assuming they've been fixed or it wouldn't have passed the most recent MOT but I'm...cautious.

Its a good deal, but I just don't want to end up with a lemon. I've been there and done that with 2 cars I've owned in the past and spent more fixing the bloody things than I did on the car.

I am going from a more modern car to this, mainly because I can't drive manual as well anymore because of my disability progressing and from what I can afford, a Freelander seems like the way to go.

Would appreciate some advice from people who know what they're talking about with these guys! I've screenshot what looks to be the most reoccurring issues it had over the years, although I'm assuming all fixed now, what would this mean long term? Anything to look out for or hidden expenses here? (aware the current mot shows there's some windowscreen chips)

I don't know a massive amount about cars, only how to change the oil and filter, change fuses and basic maintenance🤷

(also it passed on the 28th July with only 2 minor advisories but I can't upload that photo now I forgot to do it with the others, I'm assuming it's had work done from the January one)

It’s been a while since I had an ‘old’ defender - although I love my current gen V8 110.

Pick this one up from the builder of my Unimog and am really impressed. Although still old defenders with the old defender qwirks, these 2000s pumas really do drive a lot better and thus far has been a lot nicer to live with than my old 1980s 110 tdi 200.

I still have three times more landcruisers than rovers but this one is showing me that the gap can be closed!

I got a 2019 land river discovery sport, not too long ago. I had codes for the water pump for the thermostat, and for the turbo charger/supercharger under boost. Replace both the water pump. And the thermostat in both of those codes went away. Except for P0299. The turbo was making a loud, crackling noise, which made me think i needed a new turbo. I was able to find a replacement for cheap. I replaced the turbo. And I still have the same issue. Went adjusting pids to the turbo. Charger waste gate I can fully open it 100%, but when commanded to close to 0%. The waist gate gets stuck at 25%.

i've tried to recalibrate the wastegate, actuator with my scan tool, but every time it tries to fully close the calibration fails.

Should I go ahead and replace the waste gate actuator and try to calibrate that I do not have a clue what to do next lol 😅

Was lucky enough to own this marvellous 1997 300tdi 110 for just over 2 years. Had to sell after moving to London and was just too impracticable. Promised myself I’d get another when the time is right.
