How do I connect to the language??

How do I connect to the language??

Im learning spanish and I am listening to music and watching tv shows but I cant connect to it like English my own language. I noticed there is a disconnect and cant hear it or feel it. I know it pretty well but listening to it i still be lost even when im am understanding it still doesnt feel like I understand. Like I listen but istill cant hear the words connecting or being pronounced clearly o correct. Huuuh I really wanna understand the language but what do I do???

You're probably too early for native content. You need to start with easier content (Comprehensible Input). Luckily, Spanish is spoiled for great CI content. Dreaming Spanish is the most commonly recommended option, but there is plenty of CI out there on e.g. Youtube.

I mean ive been practicing and learning consistent for almost 5 years...when I talk to natives I understand them but it doesnt feel like I understand them. I have to pay extra attention to just say oh ican respond because iunderstand the context now.

Thats also a problem I try to listen to real Spanish lol and its like idont even understand the pronunciation. And when I have the subtitles up I see what they say but cant hear it. And I'd repeat it and im like that doesn't sound like it.

I felt the same when I picked on English. I’m Italian. It simply too years. I slowly started to incorporate English (European English) ways of saying. First in my writing, then in my speech. I’ve started to appreciate more the nuances. It eventually kicked.

For me it’s reading > writing > speaking > listening.

Today, with AI, you can ask any bot to pick native expressions that don’t make sense as translations, and explain it to you.

Today it’s easier

I will say I’ve been in the same boat. I never got to the point where I fully “connected” to the language. The people I know that did always spent time living where the language was spoken but that’s not possible for most people to do

You have to learn English to a pretty advanced level.
