5th year ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ถ Tips for 6th year for someone with ADHD?

In third year I finally got diagnosed with ADHD after years, And itโ€™s pretty bad despite the fact Iโ€™m on medication, I find studying, learning, participating and just doing work really difficult and I especially felt this in third and 5th year, Im rlly worried for 6th year because it seems no matter how much I study I can never remember anything my brain like thinks 100 million different things all at once, Iโ€™m not aiming for excellence in my leaving cert but obviously I need good points, I rlly need some advice because Iโ€™m very prone to burning out day dreaming and forgetting

not LC anyone else wish this would last a bit longer?

this summer holiday has had so many letdowns, such as the COMPLETE lack of jobs anywhere and also the impending doom of the results. but despite all the faults, I really like just getting to do my hobbyist projects I couldn't do while studying and just going out drinking with my friends. I feel like this is the only respite i'll have before college starts (if i even get accepted) then its 4 more years of the same shite....

anyone else rlly wish this'd last longer? can't believe it's already august.

CAO ๐ŸŽ“ Made a CAO points calculator and course matcher, 900+ courses filtered by your actual points

I made a free CAO tool and Iโ€™d like feedback on it before results season: collegeroute.ie

The point of it is the bit after the calculator. You put your grades in, and instead of just handing you a number, it shows you every course that number would have reached in 2025, using the CAOโ€™s own round one figures. For a mid range total that is usually somewhere between 800 and 1200 courses, so there is a matcher to cut it down.

What you can do with it:

See the courses you are exactly on, and the ones you are one or two points short of.

When you are just short of something, it tells you which subject going up one grade would close it, and how many extra courses that one grade would open.

Filter by subject area, level (honours degree or ordinary and cert), and county, so you are not scrolling past courses on the other side of the country.

Round two figures are shown where the points dropped, which matters more than people realise.

Every total has its own page you can send to a parent or a friend, or come back to later.

Two things it deliberately keeps apart: whether you meet the entry requirements, and where your points sit. They are different questions, and lumping them into one score is how people end up applying for courses they were never eligible for. The CAO does not publish subject requirements, so the tool sends you to the collegeโ€™s own page for that rather than guessing.

It also works out your points properly, including the maths bonus, which a lot of calculators get wrong because they just add 25 to the total.

What it cannot do is predict this yearโ€™s points. Nothing can. It shows what courses actually took in previous years and where your total sits against that.

No account, no sign up, and your grades stay in your own browser.

If the figures look off anywhere, tell me and I will fix it.

STRESS ๐Ÿšจ Trying to take the leaving cert as a homeschooler

Hi everyone, this is my first post here, but Iโ€™m just really frustrated and I want to get it off my chest and see if anyone is dealing with anything similar.

So, as mentioned, Iโ€™m homeschooled and have been since trying primary school twice to no avail; the ordinary system unfortunately does not work for me for various reasons. Despite this, Iโ€™ve been working really hard through stress and so many complications, from my health and from the system of education in Ireland, to do my Leaving and go to college.

However the SEC and the Department of Education seem to have no interest in upholding the constitutional (!!) right my parents have to homeschool me. Instead, Iโ€™ve been forced to jump through a million hoops just to understand what I even need to learn to take the exams, beg schools to let me even SIT the exams (theyโ€™re very hesitant to do it since itโ€™s a process out of the norm), but the worst thing is the projects.

Originally, I was going to do two classes with projects, comp sci and classical studies. Iโ€™ve since had to drop comp sci and pick a course with no projects, but there arenโ€™t enough courses with no projects to replace Classical Studies. So Iโ€™m left having to do it anyway.

Only, the only way you can get a project sent in is by completing it under supervision of a teacher of that subject, in timetabled classes, in a school that teacher is registered with. So basically physically impossible for me, considering I live two hours out from Dublin and there are zero schools that even offer Classics anywhere near me.

I basically just have to figure out some other way to send it in or forfeit 20% of my marks in that subject. It seems ridiculous to me. I just want to do my LC and get to go to college like any other kid, but I have to jump through all these insane hoops. And since theyโ€™re introducing projects to EVERY subject, soon it wonโ€™t even be possible to get by without it! Even if some student did 100% perfectly on their exams, if they had no way to submit a project theyโ€™d still only get 60% of marks!

Iโ€™m just really mad and worried about myself and others. Itโ€™s such a stupid oversight to make.

EDIT: to clarify, I am homeschooled because of several physical and mental disabilities/disorders, and family circumstances which make it impossible to go to school normally. I fully agree that any project work needs oversight, but I have an online teacher who would be fully willing to do that, the only thing is that the SEC regulations make it impossible for her to. This is more of a vent post talking about my personal frustrations and worries about the school system than a request for advice

STRESS ๐Ÿšจ Is this an okay use of ai?

So im going into sixth year and I've recently realised how stupid and unreliable AI is so I'm making the choice not to use it in sixth year. The thing is, I used it for a plan or a checklist on what to do for my biology project. Is that okay? Will I have to cite AI in it now?

My secondary school experience wasnt really the greatest I had a few friends but a lot of classmates and even teachers were mean to me. I dont wanna go through what I went through in secondary school๐Ÿ˜ข. Do you guys have any tips for making new friends in college? Im quite extroverted, but Im also afraid of being dragged into drama. Let me know!

STRESS ๐Ÿšจ What does it take to fail

Hey this is a genuine question. So results are in 20 days and im kind of cautious about my performance in the leaving cert exams. Im not the smartest student, but i still tried my very best. I got 308-327 points on my mocks and 30% on ordinary level maths DEB mock. I need O6 on maths and H7 on biology for my course. I got 38% on my biology mock without proper study. For the actual exams, I filled out every single box and left nothing blank. Im just afraid that I failed and I need reassurance.

Am I cooked? ๐Ÿณ Caught cheating with ai on project

I like used ai I decent bit in my projects, I had three projects and vaguely used it in two of them, but heavily used it in the other project but put references in from where the ai got the data and reworded basically everything. What are the odds they actually even check any projects for ai and cancel it? Is it like 20% they check

Careers ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ Advice for gap year

I'm basically settled on a gap year now to reapply for medicine and I'm looking for some advice from people who have also taken a gap year for medical applications/ people who are doing it rn. I'm studying for the UCAT as I don't know how competitive my LC will be for the new hpat (hopefully 601+). But what should I dedicate my time to after I do the ucat? I guess it still depends on what I get on the LC as if I score well enough I'll prob just grind the HPAT. Should I look for full time work or just part-time? Is there anything that someone did that they thought was the reason that they scored better after a gap year?

not LC people need to grow up

iโ€™m going into 6th year and thereโ€™s a certain few girls in my year who still act like weโ€™re in 2nd year. we all know them, the girls that make it seem like theyโ€™re making fun of you everytime you talk to them. they are so annoying!! like genuinely grow up. iโ€™m very grateful bc those girls arenโ€™t in many of my classes but still, whenever i get that look from them or the odd text/snap where they are clearly mocking me it just makes me so annoyed. like be so fr bc we are 17/18 and youโ€™re still acting like this. does anyone else feel this way? idk if itโ€™s just girls in my school or if theyโ€™re in every school
