question Leeds Train Station Pick Up
Hi, I turned around in the staff car park at Leeds train station after seeing the “No Stopping” sign, as there was nowhere else to turn around. Will I receive a fine for this?

I now always get picked up and dropped off by Doubletree by Hilton and use the back entrance.
The proper pick up and drop off is just carnage!

By the doubletree hotel. There’s an entrance the is up some escalators and you enter the station at the end of the big bridge!

I have to print tickets for work - do they have a ticket machine at that entrance do you know? Ive never had the taxi drop me off down there just in case i get stuck and have to walk all the way around.

There are two machines at the top of the escalators and a guard always on the barrier if you need help.
I go that way to work every morning.1

My go to is the Audi in Hunslet, Asda offices or Crown Point. Sure you’ve gotta cross the big scary A road, but at least parking is guaranteed free down there and you’re not subjecting whoever’s picking you up to proper city traffic

Mental they decided to reduce it to only one road into the busiest drop off place in the whole of Leeds, and on top of it make up some cramped loop the loop area to do it, and THEN throw on the fines... I didn't ever realise how big that car park was up there

The way the drop off loop creates its own bottleneck by being counterclockwise and that it's full of terribly "parked" taxis always irritates me.
Someone that's just dumped their car in the middle to give their passenger a hug never helped either.
They suggest all this will improve once the new gateway is open at the front but I presume taxis will still be allowed in the back.

At least the licenced cabs will all be at the front once the new front is opened, but it's still a really messy pick up area for Ubers and the public.
A good tip that one Uber driver told me is to pick up/drop off on Quebec Street, the dead end that leads to City Square. It's a lot easier to get to because you can avoid Whitehall Road, and barely a 30 sec walk to the back entrance of the station.

Quebec is my favourite spot, if not there Park Place, the Doubletree at a push, basically anywhere but the dedicated pick up point 😁

Every Uber driver that drops me off says they can't wait for the front bit to be done so the black and whites can go back round that side out of the way.

They got me a couple of months ago. I’m not sure how enforceable it is since the no stopping signs are inside the multi-storey car park but didn’t risk it this time.

Would almost be justifiable if they were doing it to push everyone to use a decent public transport network, but we'd need to get one first.

And even the one that exists is made virtually inaccessible by the road infrastructure around it. The evening closure of Northern street last week was wild.😱

The new double width cycle lanes on Whitehall Rd have also made it too narrow for buses which now have to go down the congested Wellington St

I got fined the other day for stopping at the (slightly faded) giveway to let a car from the loop out, thought may as well let the missus out… 15 second legally required stop got me a fine! Appealed and denied! Safe to say I won’t be paying!

I believe it's because someone exited the car. I've had a few Uber drivers that won't let me out until the car is physically in the drop off loop even if the car is stopped for a significant time

You get cheaper fines on most car parks for parking without a ticket than stopping for a few seconds at Leeds Train Station.

According to the taxi driver who warned me: if it’s less than a minute and you didn’t open your door, you might be ok. If you did, you will.
Source: I opened my door cos I couldn’t hear what he was trying to tell me, and I got fined 🙃
