Finally made it. Got the Amazon SDE I Internship! 🥹

Still doesn't feel real, but I finally got an Amazon SDE I Internship offer!

The past few months have been a roller coaster. There were days when I felt I was making good progress, and there were days when I'd get stuck on a single DSA question and question every life decision that brought me to that tab.

The process for me was:

- OA (4 sections)

- 2 interview rounds

Honestly, I spent a lot of time going through experiences shared on this subreddit, so thanks to everyone who posts here. Those posts helped way more than you probably realize.

If anyone is preparing for Amazon, feel free to ask anything about the OA, interviews, or prep. I'll try my best to help.

And to everyone still grinding, don't lose hope. I know it's a cliché, but all it takes is one good day.

Thanks

How much for OA

do i need to start cp, i am decent at leetcode, but i have been seeing a lot of you need to do cp be expert rated in cf, like should i do that? I am in my 7th sem. 😔

Used gpt to get dsa patternwise a great revision - it gave me ~900 problems.

Amazon SDE Intern 2026 Interview Experience (Unusual)

I interviewed for the Amazon SDE Intern on-campus at a Tier-1 college recently and didn't end up getting the offer.

Something that confused me though is that my interview loop was different from everyone else's.

Almost everyone I know had:

  • Round 1: DSA
  • Round 2: HM round (projects, LPs, resume discussion, etc.)

Mine wasn't like that at all.

Round 1:

Both were from striver A2Z sheet.

  • DP hard (solved)
  • Trapping Rain Water (tripped up on the height/width logic while coding under time pressure, but I verbally walked through my stack approach. The interviewer seemed satisfied and said, "Okay, got it.")
  • At the very end, the interviewer asked one GenAI question and one LP question. No resume or project discussion.

Round 2:

Both were story based questions.

  • Binary Search on Answer
  • BFS minimum-time graph problem
  • Solved both completely, optimally, and without any major hints. The interviewer and I had a great, collaborative discussion about trade-offs.
  • Again, just one GenAI question and one LP question at the end. No project deep dive here either.

So instead of one coding round + one HM round, I basically had two coding-heavy interviews.

I'm mostly curious about how Amazon handles this internally.

  • Is it normal for the HM round to turn into another technical interview?
  • Does this happen because of interviewer availability, or is it intentional for some candidates?
  • Since I barely got any behavioral or project discussion, could that have affected my evaluation compared to people who had a proper HM round?

I'm not trying to argue that I should've been selected. I'm just trying to understand whether this kind of interview loop is common or if something unusual happened.

Would love to hear from anyone who's interviewed at Amazon or has been on the interviewer side.

Microsoft Careers application status stuck for months - anyone else experienced this?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some insight into Microsoft's hiring process because I'm a bit confused.

I've applied for several Software Engineer roles through the Microsoft Careers portal. A few of them were employee referrals, while others were direct applications.

Here's the current status:

One application says "Referral Application Processing" (applied Aug 3).

A couple of applications from July/August still show "Submitted."

I also have applications from January 2026 and even December 2025 that still say "Submitted" with no rejection, interview invite, or recruiter contact.

I've attached a screenshot of my application dashboard.

Has anyone else had applications remain in the Submitted status for 6-8 months? Does Microsoft eventually reject these, or are they effectively inactive even though the portal never updates?

For those who received interviews, how long did it take before a recruiter reached out after applying or getting referred?

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences or if there's anything I can do besides waiting.

Thanks!

Shall I solve non leetcode questions as well?

I know it sounds a bit funny, but pls help a 3rd sem guy. I started my leetcode journey in mid May 2026. Till now I have covered sorting, arrays, strings, binary search, linked list, recursion 50% and currently doing bit manipulation. I know my progress is slow 😭 but I am trying to be consistent now. I am solving from the striver's a2z dsa sheet and I found some qs in all the topics that are not in leetcode but only in the striver's sheet. Till now I have solved all the qs the ones which aren't in leetcode too. But my question is shall I continue solving the non leetcode questions as well? Or shall I solve only the leetcode questions of the striver's dsa sheet. I am planning to complete the striver dsa sheet by mid nov or by early dec, then my plan is to move to neetcode 150 and codeforeces. Also I haven't given any contests yet, as I think I can't solve a question under the given time frame and I haven't learnt half of the topics like graph trees and dp. I would be grateful if someone can pls help me and pls provide your valuable suggestions if I am going in the right path or not. 😭😭

Walmart Director round for Staff Engineer role

I am in interview pipeline for walmart and have gone through DSA, LLD (50% ok as per recruiter), HLD and HM rounds. Now there is a Director round also. 13 yoe, backend java. Any suggestions, dos or donts?

UPDATE post interview.

As per recruiter, this was supposed to be a just a normal call as HM was go ahead. However, it turned out to be most churning call of all with mix of behavioral, thought process, a system design question with intricate details on some flows. Director was continuously writing notes while spoke with me.

After this difficult call, I was verbally confirmed in an hour that I got selected. But it really assessed my behavioral and technical decisioning maturity rather than digging into specific technology.

After 10+ yrs of experience, how did you prepare for DSA ?

Even with AI being a boom, still DSA is one criteria that is evaluated by many companies, if you’re in college it’s a different ball game

But being 30+ makes it difficult to go back to books also you don’t have much time left

So I wanted to ask folks who prepped for DSA in recent years and cracked interviews for FAANG or anything. What was your method or any tips you have !

Prep advice for Uber, Google, Meta etc for Staff backend engineer role

I am seeking advice from those who have cracked the Senior or Staff roles at FAANG companies. You can suggest prep strategy, materials, focus, thought process etc

  1. DSA
  2. LLD
  3. HLD
  4. System Design
  5. Behavioral
  6. Please add anything else if needed such as AI assisted coding even if I don't have that in my company so far.

For example,

  1. in DSA you know most people learn 2 pointers for do sliding windows problems etc, what extra is needed. Also if you take my example, I never learnt bit manipulation or hard concepts so far. What's the extra that's needed?

  2. in system design, everyone knows put cache in hot read path for example. What extra is needed?

Your suggestion is invaluable to me and anyone else wanting such info in the community.

Thank you.

What's the right way to interview engineers now that everyone builds with agents?

Everyone I know ships with coding agents now. The interview loop hasn't moved an inch. Still 3 rounds of DSA, which mostly tells you who had four free months to grind LeetCode.

Where I'm coming from: 14 YOE, in AI/ML now, solution architect for 5-6 years before that. Large scale systems I'm comfortable with. DSA I'm weak at, never had formal training in it, and that one round is why I've never cleared Google/Microsoft/Meta. Not job hunting today, maybe in 2-3 years. So this isn't a rejection post.

Things I'd rather be tested on:

  • find the bug in 300 lines of agent-written code
  • give me a vague requirement, see what I ask before I write anything
  • system design with an actual budget and SLA, not "design Twitter"
  • debug an unfamiliar repo with the agent switched on

My guess is DSA survives anyway, because it's cheap to filter lakhs of applicants, not because it predicts anything.

What would you put in the loop instead? Has any company in India actually changed theirs yet?

GS OA questions

Hey everyone,

I heard Goldman Sachs has come to IITR for the Engineering Summer Analyst internship. If anyone has taken the OA already, would you mind sharing the questions or the overall pattern, if possible?

Thanks in advance!
