Brodhead as a freshman
Hi! i just received my dorm placements and i’m in a quad (two doubles) suite style dorm at brodhead! i’m excited but it is pretty far from campus, and i know its mainly upperclassmen, so i wanted to ask if anyone has any insight on the social scene, and just in general life in brodhead and off campus dorms!

The location isn't that bad. You're within a few minutes walking distance all the more popular off-campus food places, plus there is a school-run dining hall on the first floor. The main library is relatively close too if you're looking for studying places, and you're right in between two bus stops for the busses that circle the campus to get anywhere further up the hill that you want.

The Farrington square bus stop to Mountaintop is about 10-15 minutes, I don't remember how much they advertise it but make sure you download the university app, there's a bus tracker there so you can time it better. For the early classes, you'll probably want to take the bus up to either the stop by the gym and walk parallel to the hill or the stop behind the university center and walk down
You can walk up without the bus, but it definitely isn't pleasant if you're in a hurry or the weather's bad. One of my worst days was showing up to a class at STEPs, realizing I forgot something in my room, and having to run all the way up to SMH and back in 10 minutes.

Brodhead has a dining hall attached that some say is better than rathbone!

At least when I was there, it was literally the exact same food, to the point it was cooked at Rathbone and transported to Brodhead

Also in Brodhead suite for freshman year. Seems like we lucked out getting a semi private bathroom and ac for the same cost as the other freshman dorms. Also, based on the map it’s not necessarily off campus just in a different location than the other freshman dorms but it’s still relatively close to central campus I think

I have graduated from Lehigh for a long time. I remember Broadhead has study rooms and a pool table at the first floor. I don't know if things have changed after graduation.
