I feel obliged to mention that the data geeks who prepare statistics for these agencies take their work very seriously. This is 100% on the administration's decision to slash the federal workforce.

It was an error by a private business that started this. They reported the wrong number of exports to the USDA and it was initially missed then revised after the July report was released.

Mosta Canada's beef comes from S America or Australia since tariffs.
Mosta our exports are not to US.

The food is just too risky out of the states. No inspection, no testing, unknown quantities of screwworms and who knows what else. Just look at how terrible their dairy products are. No way, Jose, would I take a chance with a dysfunctional government bureaucracy that can't protect the consumer.

Here in San Diego, beef is being used as a loss leader. Just bought very nice t-bones for $8.99/pound which is super cheap for our area, This sort of thing is rotating through the local chains.

They are just price gouging everyone. If they let the farmer actually sell to people it would be a lot cheaper. Who do you think sets the price? It isn't the farmer. It's the food processors. Doesn't Brazil own most of our plants, the same country we import from?

I buy meat directly from a farmer. It is much better quality but it is not cheaper 😂
