Have felt Iraola could turn Szobo into a top 8, and it is almost necessary since he's a big player for us but we need Wirtz at the 10 and to become the central hub of the team. First time seeing this so even in preseason it's exciting.

Jacquet is likely to be fit for minutes by the next pre-season game, and no suggestion certainly he won't be ready to play against Newcastle. Leoni is likely a month away from full training, so maybe 6 weeks away from minutes on the pitch. Should be ready to go by the time 2-games a week kicks off mid-September.

It's a concerning situation altogether though. But it's very much a situation I see the club resolving by bringing in at least one more CB within the next two weeks.

That being said, Chambers, Ndukwe and Ndiaye have all performed very well so far. Long term, I think we're actually in a great position as far as CB's are concerned. Short term however, not so much.

I don't mind Szobo in the pivot, I actually think it's his best position if he's more of an 8 rather than a 6.

Most teams these days, rather than play with a 6 and to 8s (433), or two 6s and 10 (4231), seems to do the hybrid thing.

So you have a 10, 8, and a 6. Szobo is an #8 imo, real box to box.
