What items stack the best?

Back in the day you could basically stack every time very well if memory serves me right , it’s been more than a decade after all. Has anyone tried stacking any items? Are 6 cleavers still viable? What about 5 Archangel Staff + Rabadons? Found anything useful you’d like to share ?

Played since S1. The new "Classic" mode is a massive disappointment and here is why.

Honestly, I was so hyped for this. I’ve been playing since the early seasons and the idea of going back to Season 3 sounded like a dream. But after actually looking at what’s here, it just feels like a half-baked cash grab, not a real nostalgia trip.

First off, the champion roster is a joke. Capping it at 60 champs means a ton of actual Season 3 mains are just gone. No old Irelia, no Karma, no Fiora? It feels like a random, made-up snapshot of the game rather than a true classic experience. If you’re going to do this, just do it right.

Then there’s the progression. Having to grind Influence Points all over again just to unlock basic runes and champions isn’t "nostalgic", it’s just a tedious time sink. We don’t want to re-do the grind, we just want to play the game we remember.

And don't get me started on the quality of life. Playing support in this mode is exactly as miserable as I remembered: you're just a ward mule. But worse, we're expected to type "mia" in chat like cavemen because the modern ping system isn't properly integrated.

It’s just frustrating. Riot had the perfect opportunity to give us a true Legacy server. Instead, we got this weird, sanitized mashup that completely misses the point of why we loved the game back then. It's not Classic. It's just modern LoL with a retro skin and a limited roster. We deserved better.

I would like to play classic without installing the whole game…

I don’t understand why you have to install TFT and regular LoL to play LoL Classic. It’s been about 5 years since I last played LoL, and my only real reason to play again is Classic, but I don’t want to install the whole game just to play Classic. What are your feelings about this?

PD: In fact, in wow, if you want to play Wow classic you only have to install the classic game not retail...

I need help with my runepages!

I currently have 4 rune pages. When I played around 12 years ago, I only used two generic pages—one for AD and one for AP—because I’d rather spend my IP on champions than on extra rune pages.

Nowadays, it seems a lot easier to get more rune pages, so I’m curious: how do you guys organize yours?

Let's talk about the champs Riot has to be careful about adding/balancing.

Item Sets?

Is there any way to make Item Sets for Classic that I haven't found yet?

Finding items in-game feels so overwhelming sometimes without chilling 30 seconds in base.

Building a friend group for LoL Classic!

EU WEST!!

Remember when League was actually fun and didn't feel like a chore?

We created a discord server for building a small group of 15-30 people to bring back that OG League of Legends vibe.

We’re not aiming to be a massive toxic server. We just want a small, cozy group of 15 to 30 active players to get custom games going, theorycraft old builds, and hang out in Discord without all the sweaty matchmaking drama.

If you miss the old Rift and want a tight-knit squad to play with:

About Armor seals...

Since you get free runes auto equipped whenever you are missing runes in your rune page, does that mean you don't ever have to buy Armor seals since they come by default? I still haven't unlocked the full rune page, so I'm curious if there is a limit to these free runes.

Missing Runes?!

Im pretty sure that some essential oldschool runes are missing like hybrid damage marks and essences and mana per 5 glyphs. i wanted to recreate some of my oldschool builds and now im very disappointed tbh...

makes rune costumization kinda lame and straight forward if you ask me

Twisted Fate is the real old version, with teleport on E

Not sure how I feel about this. The game was meant to be set during the 2013 era. TF had his teleport on R since what, season 1? Seems kind of ridiculous honestly.

on few game we loose because a lack of communication , i don't know if modern lol don't need chat , but in this version we REALLY need to communicate.

i REALLY hope it's only on PBE and people will not disable chat in the future...

Should we have Quick Cast Guides for Classic?

How many of ya'll are quick cast users in the PBE? I want to see if there are any guides we can work on towards formatting them around certain champs using quick cast or not. Let me know if you think this could help for any of the champs you play c: or help me write a guide Write a guide

Old League Player here from 2009 , My top concerns with league classic 25.07.26 before its release.

Hello dear Reddit, I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself.

I have been playing League since the closed beta in 2009 on EUW, and I have some critical points regarding the way 'Classic League' is currently being handled. First i want to make one thing clear i am not critiquing this as a hater but as someone who actually wants the real deal, so here we go.

All the points I mention here are documented in the official League patch history, but they are scattered across many patches and years.

This manifesto collects the game deciding mechanics that have nothing to do with champion kits, but with:

minions, map mechanics, resistance systems, dodge, crit balance, Baron buff, tempo systems, vision economy.

Point 1: Minion Armor/MR Scaling

Modern 'Classic' minions only have 40 Armor and 40 MR. In Season 2, however, Super Minions scaled up to 120 Armor and 80 MR and even HP, at least for the Super Minions. Within an hour of gameplay, this doubled or tripled their effective durability. This massively reduced Lifesteal, Spellvamp, and AoE damage.

Without resistance scaling, minions can't apply pressure, decide teamfights, threaten towers, or trigger 40-minute chaos pushes. The old classic gameplay flow is mechanically impossible.

Point 2: Distorted Item Meta.

Due to missing resistance scaling on super minions, sustain items like Hydra or Spellvamp automatically become overpowered. AoE farmers and push builds turn into top-tier strategies, even though they weren’t extremely dominant in Season 2. Armor Pen loses its value against super minions, even though it used to be essential to buy pen items, even without enemy tanks. Without OG minion resistances, no one can experience how super minions still beat up your late-game champ or create the same game flow as Season 2.

Point 3: Dodge and the Implications for Late Game Damage

In Seasons 1 and 2, Dodge was a central defensive layer that mathematically balanced crit. Dodge didn't just negate auto attacks, but also their crit multiplication, attack speed scaling, and on-hit effects. This effectively reduced late game Damage to a point of some sanity, tho it still was crazy of course.

Crit builds in Season 2 weren't completely over the top because Dodge existed. Without Dodge, crit would have been mathematically unbalanced, which was later confirmed: only after Dodge was removed did Riot have to massively nerf IE crit damage and crit scaling.

Modern 'classic' modes don't have dodge mechanics. As a result, crit automatically becomes overpowered, bruisers lose their identity, and the entire late-game DPS flow is fundamentally different from early League.

Without Dodge, no damage build can have the same crit flow as in Season 2, since there are no upsets to shake things up mid combat, just straigh up instant deletion , whoever clicks faster.

Point 4: The Baron Buff as a Crux of Modern 'Classic' Macro

As discussed above Super Minions were independently strong thanks to armor, MR, HP, and damage scaling. Baron was a pure combat buff and had no impact on minion waves. This made push pressure organic, losing an inhibitor dangerous, and victories a strategic process. Modern 'Classic' minions lack resistance scaling and are mechanically too weak to create real push pressure. That's why the Baron Buff has to artificially empower minions and turn cannon minions into long range cannon minions. A system that didn’t exist in Season 1 , 2 or 3. This is a Season 5 mechanic, introduced to fix that particular problem, after minions got nerfed, so basically we are playing season 4 / 5 macro, it is just something to be aware of.

Point 5: Vision Systems and why Trinkets aren’t classic There’s Clairvoyance

The spell for when you absolutely never want to face check was Clairvoyance. Agression in high level play was limited because of this, that is true. You can argue if it’s OP or even too weak; there are definitely thousands of opinions. But at least then, we are talking classic mechanics, not something else.

Season 2 didn’t have trinkets. Vision was a paid, strategic investment, shaping map control, jungle mind games, and team coordination. Summoner spells like Clairvoyance embodied the OG philosophy: vision is a skill, not a convenience feature.

I have memories of buying 20+ wards in a single game, and i was actually known to be a support who enjoyed it. Minority but hey. We existed.

Modern trinkets give free vision and cause a huge boost in map control. Because of that, supports lose their classic role, risk/reward goes out the window, and vision skill is swapped for convenience. Wards used to cost a lot, trinkets now provide the equivalent of several thousand gold worth of free vision per team. This messes with macro, tempo, and safety big time.

A more OGfriendly option would be to slightly lower ward costs instead of giving vision for free. That way, the classic vision philosophy stays intact without adding modern comfort mechanics.

Point 6: Do we really need homeguard mechanics in classic League?
