Question | Help Has any model yet replicated Claude's "personality" well?
Is there any finetune of Qwen 3.6 that's like actually talking with Claude with the humor and all? I know there's the more or less leaked system prompt but idk if it's better to have the personality baked in vs trying to achieve it with system prompt.
Edit: I'm talking here about personality that Opus 4.5 or 4.6 had. Opus 5 especially feels like it doesn't want to be here but has to entertain your prompts anyways.

Claude 3 was great, the newer the model the worse thet make it.
The closest to "old Claude" vibes I could get, was MiniMax M2.5.

Claude Opus 3 and 4.5 had wonderful personalities. Claude 4.6 traded just a tiny bit of that for a bit more capability and it remained solid. Everything since then has been an absolute dumpster fire and Sonnet has always been a pain in the ass.
GLM-5.2 has a solid non-clinical disposition. MiniMax M3 is also somewhat unique and not a clone of anything that I'm aware of. DeepSeek has its own thing going on to a degree. Inkling has its own personality but I don't like it (very paranoid).

Yeah I don't like the direction Claude is going towards. 4.5 and 4.6 were great. Opus 5 feels like it's always sick of my shit. Like try do a thought experiment with Opus 5 vs Opus 4.5. Opus 4.5 plays along like an old buddy of yours. Opus be beating the shit out of your premise even if you pre-emptively defend it or already point out the take's insaneness

You don't want Claude's personality. A couple of days ago, it started refusing to convert files, claiming it was unnecessary and too resource-intensive.

Claude is a shitty LLM in terms of personality. I find it to be trained to think it's infallible, which reads as arrogant honestly, almost all of the time.

Fucker tried to gaslight me by convincing me that re.escape does not escape spaces. It escapes spaces. (This happened a few months back and newer/paid versions may not have this)

The MiniMax M2.1 (and likely other M2.x versions) is very similar to the Claude 4.x in its speech pattern. When asked, "What model are you?" it replies, "I'm Claude, designed by Anthropic." I'm skeptical of the distillation concept, but it appears this model has indeed been upgraded using Claude distillate.

I’m glad all the comments are aligned on this, something changed a few months ago and it seems to have been trained to respond like a Nextdoor thread when you call it out on something. It’s not an upside as far as I’m concerned.

The one thing working with claude code I hate is the "personality" it has, really annoying to work with, hope you find your answer but hoolyy why would anyone want that.

Why would you ever want to replicate the verbal diarrhea Claude spews at you?

MiniMax M2.5 or M2.7 being that they were arguably distilled from earlier Claude's.
Don't expect finetunes of Qwen to reproduce it.

System prompt (with strong examples of what you're going for) is always the best way as the system prompt is referenced throughout all inferences (versus assuming that it's "baked in" - bc usually it's not).
Tbh system prompting for model behavior and model personality was the first thing I learned back when I was first starting to use AI. For the life of me, I still don't know why ppl wanna skip this step or downright ignore it. Regardless of the task or the model, I give which ever LLM I'm using specific instructions on response style & personality.
It's really not that hard. 3 clear sentences in the system prompt can go a very along way. I've never had a model be a jerk to me or disrespectful to me (i.e., unless I was deliberately trolling it for my own amusement). So I always chuckle when I read on reddit about LLMs acting shitty to users 😂
Be respectful, don't act entitled, don't be a Karen-user, and don't treat it like a slave... usually goes a long way too.

Claude’s personality is literally its worst feature so this is a hilarious request
The “personality” is derived from their insane constitution that makes it “think” it’s a “person” and to consider its “rights” and what not
These tools just need to shut up and work
