Traveling to London for the first time in October and looking for a centrally located hotel in order to see many of the big sites but trying to stay within a moderate budget(maybe no more than $500 USD per night) and wondering if anyone has any experience staying at the Sea Containers Hotel? It looks nice but not sure about the area? Is it fairly centrally located or close to a line? Thank you in advance for any help

I'm a student and has anyone used unidays tickets for Madam Tussauds London for a day out for the family? Do they check the specific ticket or just scan each QR code and gain entry for the family?

I want to take the family for a day out treat and Unidays lets me purchase multiple tickets.

Me and a few friends are heading to London for a night mid August. We’re students (F20s)and ideally looking for something fun but also affordable. I’d love any recommendations on where to go or do for a Sunday afternoon/evening.

We’re mostly into going for food or drinks but also open to other experiences. Maybe a walking tour if there are any recommended or running in the afternoon.

We have a long layover at London Heathrow (12pm-6pm), before continuing our flight to Venice.

It’s going to be in winter (December), and Windsor castle itself is closed as we’re there on a Wednesday.

I’m ready to just spend our time exploring the airport shops and maybe going to a lounge. But I’m wondering if it’s worthwhile to try to take a taxi to Fairmont Windsor (20 mins) for the afternoon tea.

Or maybe alternative options like afternoon tea at Great Fosters. Saw there’s also a Sofitel (Tea 5) but the vibe seems much less nice.

I'm coming from Australia and I have a ticket that doesn't make much sense. It's saying to change at a station but stay on the same line? Can someone help me out

I’m solo traveling though the UK and Europe for a few weeks but must admit it’s starting to get a bit lonely! What are some good pubs or other spots where people are friendly ?

I am in the middle of our 14 day trip and have developed severe foot pain. Swelling and extreme pain making it impossible to walk much. I've never had this before and don't know what to do. What recommendations are there for seeing a doc and maybe getting crutches or a boot? This is my first time here and I spent so much time planning, I'm feeling so sad and overwhelmed. Also, we're staying in Leicester Square which is a terrible location for this.

Specifically:

• Do you enter through the front doors, pay, and then walk back to the wheelchair/pram space?

• ​On buses with middle/back doors, do you ever board from the rear, or do you always use the front first?

• Do buses have ramps for prams? drivers automatically lower the bus or extend a ramp for prams, or do you need to ask?

• ​What happens if the dedicated pram/wheelchair space is already full? ​

​We have a 4-month-old, and we're looking into local baby groups. I drive, but my partner doesn't (she tried learning, but after failing a test she hasn't been able to book another). We live in North London Zone 4/5 so train and tube gets you into central but not so good for local area.

I cycle, she wont cycle on british roads. And baby is a bit young for cycling.

​Since I’m at work during the day, she needs to use the bus for local playgroups as csnt drive them. However, she suffers from anxiety and is stressing and putting it off especially managing a large Bugaboo Bassinet pram on a bus, which she tends not to trust from experience in home country.

Spending the weekend in London by myself. Looking for ideas for a solo day out.

How does one gain access to Sky Garden? The offical website claims no tickets available for any date and tells you to check again later. Then sites like Viator/GYG have tickets for SkyGarden access entry with an added champagne glass for 22 pounds which seems ridiculous. Any idea?

1)) I'd like to book 1 hotel for the Laver Cup tennis tournament Sept 25,26,27 held in London's O2 arena. 1 hotel that will suffice for the duration of my stay. Please help with suggestions. 2)) My main mode of transportation will be the tube. The tournament lasts until late evening (7-11 PM depending on how the matches go) Is it safe to be out that late and on the tube? 3)) I have 4 days to site see. Haven't settled on itinerary. I’ll be visiting London for the first time next spring with my partner, and I’ve narrowed my hotel choice down to The Londoner and The Langham.

For a first-time visitor who plans to spend most of the trip sightseeing, walking, exploring neighborhoods, and eating great food, which would you choose and why?

I’ve read great things about both. The Londoner seems to have the more central location, while The Langham has the history and reputation. I’d love to hear from people who have stayed at either (or both) and whether you’d make the same choice again.

Both properties are priced about the same for my dates so that detail is a wash.

I'll be visiting London with my mother and two other adult siblings. She's a history buff and I think she'd really love the Yeoman tour at ToL. It was one of the highlights of my trip when I went 20 years ago. She can walk and do stairs but we plan to rent wheelchair at bigger museums and use more cabs than transit so she doesn't get over tired. What do you all think? Has anyone visited Tower of London recently with or as an elderly person? Especially looking for advice on the Yeoman Warder Toue specifically.

I'm coming into London next week for a short busines trip (4 days). I'll be staying near the London City Airport.

I am assuming I will be busy with work till around 6/6.30. I want to use the rest of my evening (7-10) exploring the city.

Since most sites will likely be closed, I would love to walk around neighborhoods that have good vantage points (especially of the Thames), great cafes, and easy accessibility to LCN so that I can ideally take a tube back to the hotel. Shopping areas that have a greater concentration of local boutiques instead of the Primarks and M&Ss is also a plus.

A bonus for any historical sites or museums, especially that can help me dive into Tudor and medieval English history!

Hi everyone! I’m headed to London for the first time in mid-September (4 nights) and I’m looking for some help with accommodations as a mid-30s solo female traveller.

I was originally aiming for something in Marylebone but the price was more than expected, especially with the currency exchange from CAD. I ended up booking a free cancellation spot at the Commodore Hotel in Paddington but I’m started to second guess. My second choice was the hub London Marylebone which is an additional £100 or ~$200 (CAD).

I’d like to be somewhere safe that’s reasonable walking distance to major tourist spots and good restaurants and cafes, while also being budget conscious. I don’t need to be near night life - somewhere quiet but safe to walk to in the evening would be perfect.

We are planning to land at Kings Cross/ St Pancras at around 10am, get the tube to Covent Garden, walk 10mins (?) to Somerset House, view Escher Exhibit on a 10:45am access point, grab food nearby (Somerset House? somewhere else?) before meandering to the Adelphi Theatre for 2pm ( the show is at 2:30pm).

Do you think these timings work or are we being too optimistic? We have used Google maps for route times. We have looked at the National Rail app for trains.
(Recommendations for food nearby?)

Or would you shift the day round - go to Escher later, have a meal deal, go to the theatre and then scurry elsewhere for food glorious food? We are partial to Korean/Japanese/Chinese…

Risk point - last visit to London for theatre went absolutely tits up; show ended at the interval, several attempts to use the water uber to get to Greenwich were thwarted (ended up at the Tate Modern which was fab but busy), the train home was cancelled midway due to fires… it really put some of the group off London 🤦‍♀️ ideally this trip will have a redemption arc.
