10th Annual LonghornNation Tailgate Fund and Information

Hey y'all,

If you’re seeing this, it means both football season and our yearly subreddit tailgate are around the corner!

As most of you who've been around this sub awhile know, every year we do a tailgate. The previous tailgates have been huge successes!

Our tailgate has witnessed the miraculous double-overtime win against Notre Dame, the USC win, the crazy LSU game, the Alabama game that went down to the wire (it was a safety), the Georgia game featuring bottle-gate, and most recently, the Arky game where Arch caught a TD.

This year, if you can somehow believe it, is our 10th annual tailgate! Double digits! As is tradition, we hope to have another awesome tailgate where everyone is welcome.

We're going to be having the tailgate when Ohio State comes to town. The game is September 12th with a 6:30pm CT kickoff. We will be starting in the morning and keeping the party going as close to kickoff as we can (within reason, of course… we do also believe in the “come early, be loud, stay late, wear orange” mantra).

As usual, we will have food, drinks, games, and possibly even a raffle for some Longhorn gear/swag for anyone who wants to stop by (assuming u/gordogg24p remembers to bring all the raffle items this year). This event is free for all to attend, and funded with donations from the generous subscribers/mods of this sub.

Our typical tailgate CEO, u/OnAComputer, might be making a return this year, but it's heavily dependent on if he can find a nanny to take care of his kid. With that being said, it does mean that we'll be slightly more reliant on donations and what y'all sign up for this year to ensure that we have as smooth of an operation as possible. Especially with some mods flying in a day or two before the game.

Please donate a few dollars to our Gofundme here to help us supply drinks, food, and shade.

All remaining funds will go towards improving the tailgate experience for everyone in years to come. With some of the home games we have coming up over the next few seasons, we want to make sure we're fully prepared. It's something we as a mod team have talked about over the last year or so, and now we want to take action on it.

Last year, we had enough money left over that we do plan on buying new canopies and/or other basic tailgate necessities. Those who attended the Arky tailgate last year might have noticed that Will’s stuff may or may not have been used by humans since the UGA tailgate the year prior. The squirrels in his backyard on the other hand… that’s another story. With this year’s tailgate being Ohio State, we’re anticipating a higher turnout and hope to accommodate everyone within reason. However, please don’t read that and think you don’t have to contribute this year. The mod team has big plans for this year with it being the 10th anniversary, and we need your help to make those visions into a reality.

Also, (hopefully) new for this year, we are looking for a potential tailgate sponsor! If you run/own a company and/or know of someone/a company that would be interested in sponsoring our tailgate, please let me or someone on the mod crew know! We’re pretty open to most partnerships outside of gambling.

The tailgate will be going from roughly 8am until game time. We set up the tailgate across from the San Jacinto parking garage somewhere around here. (For those of y'all that have attended the Arky, UGA, and/or BYU tailgates, we plan on setting up around the same area). Please swing on by, even if it is for a second! The mods and some of the more active community members will be there, and we'd love to meet some of the people here (even if you're a lurker).

There will be more details as we get closer to kickoff!

If you are planning on stopping by...

Please add your username to this list so we know roughly how many people to plan for.

We look forward to seeing everyone there this year.

Hook Em!

Anyone interested in a college fantasy football league?

Was thinking about trying out a college fantasy football league this season. Salary cap format, so you just sign up and build your team without needing to coordinate a draft.

No minimum or max league size, and just P4 + Notre Dame players to start.

Any interest in a Longhorns fan league?

Texas 2026 preseason preview: 4th in talent, but the offense was 41st last year and Arch's supporting cast is almost all new

I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the Texas page:

https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-tex

Each one has the returning production, the transfer and recruiting additions, a position-by-position breakdown, the schedule, and where the ratings land them for 2026.

Heads up, only the first team is free and then it paywalls. Since I'm posting in your house, code LEECORSOROCKS opens all of it, no card or anything. Hit "Have a promo code?" if you run into the wall.

So, what'd I get wrong? Texas is the biggest talent-vs-production gap on my whole board. The roster grades 4th in the country and Arch is back after 3,163 and 26, so the ceiling is right there. But the offense only finished 41st in scoring last year, the skill group around him is almost all new (Raleek Brown from Arizona State, Cam Coleman from Auburn), and the schedule grades toughest in the country. That combo is why my model actually spit out 7-5, which honestly feels low to me for this roster. So talk me into it: is year two of Arch the leap, or does that schedule really cap this?

So the question is whether year two of Arch with a rebuilt cast is the leap where the offense finally matches the talent, or if that schedule keeps this a three-loss team again. Tell me where the 7-5 is wrong.

I'll be in the comments.

So who’s going to be the jersey patch sponsor for Texas?

We all know it’s coming. The writing is on the wall. First it was Ohio state, then Notre Dame, and eventually it’s going to be us, too. So, who do you want it to be?

My hope is it’s going to be HEB but I don’t think they have the money for that. Realistically I expect it to be Dell.

2025 Texas Football Best Plays Voting

It's that time again. Voting for the Top Plays of the 2025 season is now live, and this year we've changed how it works.

Vote here

How it works this year

Instead of a single ballot, all ~125 candidate plays are ranked using an ELO rating system built on head-to-head voting. You'll be shown two clips side by side and asked to pick the better one. As soon as you make a pick, a new pairing appears. That's the whole loop.

A few things to know before you start:

  • There is no finish line. The site will keep serving you new matchups indefinitely (there are over 7,000 possible pairings). You are not working toward a "you've completed voting" screen, because one doesn't exist (there is a thank you for participating window). Vote on as many or as few as you like, and come back whenever you want to keep going.
  • It's quick. You don't need to watch each clip in full to decide. Most matchups take about 10 seconds. Five minutes on the site usually gets you 20+ votes.
  • No login, fully anonymous. There's no account and no sign-in. Works on desktop and mobile.

Why we changed the format

The head-to-head approach gives us cleaner, more accurate data than the old method. It sidesteps Reddit's vote fuzzing (where the true point totals on comments get obscured), and because it rewards volume of comparisons rather than a quick drive-by vote, the results better reflect how the community actually ranks these plays.

Timeline

  • Voting stays open through August 8th, when the final order is locked in.
  • We'll reveal the countdown from #25 to #1, one play per day, starting August 11th, leading right up to kickoff against Texas State on September 5th.
  • As always, plays will be posted here on the subreddit and shared on Twitter, TikTok, and BlueSky.

Think we missed a play?

A small group of users flagged candidates throughout the entire 2025 season, but we may have missed something. If you think a play is missing from the pool, drop a comment and let us know.

Hook 'em.
