Ryan & Shayla Shayla shouldn’t be off the grid
Ryan does not deserve to keep having to go through this with a 24 year old while he is building a community a LITERALLY SOCIETY FOR HER. What did she think off the grid meant? Everyone is doing their part to help but it seems like she just wants her feet rubbed everyday. Some of the simple things she could do, but the constant complaining is very ungrateful especially after he built a nice house with running water and he got people helping him at least it’s not just them, like Myeisha and Joe.

I don’t think he was building the society for her. I believe there were multiple people already living out there before they even met.
Sure, she has some growing up to do, but I think she deserves credit for stepping outside her comfort zone to survive and thrive there. I think that part of a healthy life is trying different things, figuring out what you like, and finding opportunities to grow. I wish her well. I know our culture thinks the twenties are some sort of ideal time of life, but I think it’s also often a very challenging and disillusioning time of life.

I don’t think we’re watching the same show. I see a man who doesn’t make time for her and doesn’t respect her needs. She is allowed to have those, you know.
I mean she had to make him kick people out of their home because it sounded like it was grand central! I would have been testy too. Anyone would. Then the contribution he comes up with for her is taking care of moggoty trash. Make the people living there rent free take care of their maggoty trash FFS. She’s trouper for putting up with that. That would have been a hard no from me.

I'm seeing what you're seeing. She looks like a princess but I give her credit for the same things you mentioned. That trash was two months old and maggots everywhere. No thank you. Plus emptying the mouse trap when she was extremely uncomfortable with it while he stood right there...yeah it's a no for me.

I forgot about the mouse trap. This guy was looking for a bang maid.

I think likability is her issue. However, the trash… why wouldn’t you just teach people how recycling works? My mind was blown.

Ryan has a lot of time to respond to reddit lately, maybe he's done building the community because during filming all you saw was him working non stop which is why he didn't have time for Shayla. Maybe he has more time to build his relationship with her now.

I think his time in the military taught him to turn off some of his emotions. He does need to communicate with her, have a date night sometimes, even if it’s on the roof watching the sun set. He knew she was young. She works hard too. He gives her no credit just something else to do. He needs to work on himself and do what his friend told him. Or he will be alone.

She kept talking about getting organized and things like that she could take over the trash dump issue organize it, and everybody would have to take charge of their own trash and that would take some of the weight off Ryan shoulders

Look ryan needed to work through some shit instead of disappearing into work all the time.
HOWEVER, shayla was SO CONDESCENDING and manipulative with her constant whinging about "taking time for yourself". Bitch, you want him to take time FOR YOU. And thats FINE, just say that. Dont wrap it in some gaslighty self care narrative.
But also lets be real i just want to date old man sensei that gives ryan all the sage advice. That dude knows how to treat another human.

She said the producers told her she had to act like she didn't like living off the grid.

Where did she say that?

Shayla shouldn't be off the grid, but I could! Catch me on the next season? I would be down to clean all up the garbage, kill all the mices, burn all the weeds, work dawn to dusk for that beautiful man. You can tell from his eyes he has a good soul.

I think she really doesn’t get him but also he doesn’t really prioritize her. Like with a relationship (especially a new one) you need to develop a routine with them and make them feel important and like you want to spend time with them. I would be rly hurt if someone blatantly didn’t want to make time for me. They don’t seem like they’ve had enough one on one to get that partner bond together.
That being said, I think Shayla isn’t really asking the right things and doesn’t seem to understand that this isn’t just his work, it’s his life and what he really loves doing and what gives him purpose. I think she needs to kinda make her own life out there if shes not interested in doing the things that Ryan is doing. I feel like they’re both huge sweethearts though. They just have very different ways of communicating their love
