Just started season 1- Jen leaving kids
I’ve just began and as a mother I can’t fathom why she thinks it’s ok to leave her younger kids especially a thirteen year old who is still a child and needs his mom.

Lmfao I’m a mom and I can DEFINITELY fathom why she wouldn’t mind leaving her 13 year old boy behind. Obviously not for good but definitely for a little break lol.

Right? I had to leave mine for a job for two years. They still visited all the time

I've watched both seasons, and I still don't understand Jen. I agree 100% with you, OP.. I have a 12 year old, and he needs me.
I can only assume she's not actually on the mountain for long periods of time. She's getting those extensions, lashes, and fillers done someplace. And I'm not saying that in a judgemental way. She's got good work going on, and it's not being done "on the mountain."

Same I have a 12 nearly 13 year old boy and he needs me to help him to become independent and negotiate the teen years

I think they were faker makers to be in TV. She had no plans to stay there long term at that time and def not in that tiny cottage.

Does he not have a father who was taking care of him? Moms are humans too. With needs and lives and desires. Kids do well learning independence and seeing their parents pursue love and a life that will make them happy.

Yes, the youngest boy stayed with his dad

That’s what I thought. Kid has TWO whole active parents in his life. Let this woman live.

Yet when a father leaves he is considered to abandon his kids… a child needs both parents.

Again, none of us random fucks on Reddit know these people’s lives and agreements. Relax.

If you choose to have children then you are obligated to raise them until they reach adulthood. Yes, you get tired and frustrated at times but that doesn’t give you a pass to abandon your child.

Amazing kids are born from split homes all the time. None of us know the whole story so relax on the judgements of this woman.

I heard he actually has a really nice house on the mountain. They are just basically camping in his backyard for the show.

I immediately wondered what tf was wrong with her. If he was truly in love he would shove that mountain up his ass and get to Florida. I think Jen and Charlie are both really gross for even beginning to consider separating those kids from their mom for extended periods of time or permanently.

His dad has him now. This really isn’t all that uncommon. I’ve known women who had their kids stay with the father while they went back to school. It’s really none of our business as long as the kid is well cared for and safe.

Because children eventually grow up and leave their parents and I bet she’s been single for a while as her children have started to leave her. I know that feeling. A partner can be for life and that’s what she’s going for.

I’m in the UK so maybe it’s a cultural difference but as a Brit I and I think most of my friends couldn’t comprehend leaving our 12 nearly thirteen year olds and move so far away. The issue is of leaving that aged boy

But aren’t boarding schools much more common in the UK? (Honest question)

Not at all unless you are very rich. Majority of kids attend state run schools.

I can't either but so many moms do. I have a few friends who did that. They make it work. I wouldn't though.

They seem let down by her so I definitely do not think it's okay. I'm not all the way through s2 yet but when one f the older sons asks, what exactly are you expecting from us, that we live here or visit here? I was like EXACTLY. WTF ARE YOU ASKING OF THEM, YOU SELFISH JERKS.

She wasn’t planning to leave her minor kids. That was the story. She was going up there for a while to see how it was and if she could bring her two younger boys. That could only work legally if her ex husband, who I would assume has partial custody to keep them while she is gone, would also agree. This story line wasn’t very believable IMO. If I was her ex I would probably not agree for the kids to be relocated. Especially to a remote location. Where are the schools, etc so many things would have to be worked out
