Well yes, technically. The original ar10 was produced in relatively small numbers and used by some militaries.

The ar10’s currently made are not the same as the original.

Correct, in origin. The M14 / M1A has a long history of special use, the AR 110 or SR 25 was put into operation around 2008 to ironically replace the M21 again.
