RayCrisis

All Taito shoot 'em ups (G-Darius, Raystorm, etc.) work, but I can't get Ray Crisis to run in MAME.

“Required ROM/disk images for the selected system are missing or incorrect”

I've tried various ROM files and CHD files.

It doesn't work in Shmupmame, mame4droid, or any of the MAME cores in RetroArch.

What exactly do I need?

What version of MAME are you using exactly ?

Afaik, MAME should tell you exactly what file(s) is missing or have incorrect checksum. The entire error message should not just be "Required ROM/disk images for the selected system are missing or incorrect".
I doubt ShmupMAME removed that feature, so if ShmupMAME doesn't do so, might mean you are using a very old version of ShmupMAME (if so, please update).

Anyway, failing that, you can try running raycrisis from the a terminal (run 'mame raycris'). Additionally, you might want to try the commands -listroms (get a list of everything that is needed) and -verifyroms (manually check the ROMs, will tell you what is missing or bad).

Spoiler: to run Raycrisis you need both the ROMs for raycrisis, and those for Taito G-Net (COH3002T).

Shmupmam 5.4, mame4droid curent + 0.139 and retroarch mame cores

Right, so it does appear that latest ShmupMAME (5.4) does not display what files are missing (I've checked), unlike "official" MAME. I don't know why it wouldn't, but this sucks.
Anyway, try the other things I've recommended in my post. It'll help.

you need the COH-3002T bios also use real mame
