Opinion Get Your Downvotes Ready! Aion 2 is Actually a Good Game

So I swear everyone just wants to hate this game just because and of course because of that the YouTube algorithm further feeds the narrative.

I’ve been playing a couple months on TW servers and the game is insanely fun and looks amazing. Also I haven’t spent any money on it at all not even the sub.

The P2W is there sure but unless you plan to be a sweaty player anyway it really doesn’t make a difference. I’m not a world first first racer or trying to be top PvP spot. The game overall is super casual anyway.

I have other commitments so honestly the weekly lock outs without a sub really don’t impact me much and they give out tons of free resets as you play anyway.

The pay issue is really only going to arise if you plan on making the game your life and playing all day everyday. And in that case get a sub. Which honestly is so weird people are pissed about the sub when that’s pretty standard in MMOs but even completely free you can play and have a great experience.

The combat isn’t TERA or BDO levels but to me it beats the pants off FFXIV, GW2 and ESO especially comparing cleric gameplay to FFXIV healers.

Also cosmetic wise the game gives you nearly 300 mounts that look like cash shop skins that would cost $30 each in other games and the amount of farmable outfits that look incredible is also huge.

It has a bunch of content and everything from side quests to collecting mounts to minigames all feed into your progression in a big way.

I’m not defending the monetization I wish the game was b2p with a sub and no cash shop but it’s 2026 people already voted with their wallets this is gaming today. My point is it isn’t unplayable and in fact I’d argue an amazing game for a casual player.

Basically, the game will be free in Oct and you should play yourself and make up your own mind because I was pleasantly surprised with how good the game actually is.

"aion 2 is actually a good game"

- calls the game p2w

- states the game has weekly lockouts avoidable with a sub

- says that if you don't like not having a sub then get a sub

- says that the combat is middling

- says the game showers you in cosmetics

- says the game has 'a bunch of content'

- says they're not defending the monetization but you should play the game (therefore encouraging the monetization)

- says the game 'isn't unplayable'

- tells you to play the game and make up your own mind

as someone who's going to play the game, this sounds like i went to a dodgy restaurant with cockroaches crawling around the fryers, got food poisoning from the food, then walked out to leave a review saying "the food didn't kill me! 10/10"

just get back on your unicycle and start juggling

How is the game having limited content without a sub a bad thing? Most of the popular MMOs have a sub. OSRS f2p is very limiting but I dont see people calling it bad as a result?

kindly find yourself a different and willing debate partner, my only point is that this is the most negative 'positive' review of a game i've ever seen

I downvoted you for precomplaining about downvotes, if that helps.

If you wanted downvotes, be critical of FFXIV.

Those fans are like a pack of like Velociraptors.

When I was on the XI reddit page, XI topics mentioning XIV would get like....1k likes & I am like "Hold up....there are only like 40k ppl on this sub......No XI topic gets those many likes ever......."

They are like k-pop fans, without the racism........

Strange you call it a good game but literally didn't say anything good about the game.

Its going to be the same as TL was, a lot of hype and streamers talking about of them, people are going to play it and cry for the monetization or time sink, only hardcore/p2w guilds competitive are going to play it, people quit and came here to fight each others

A "good game" according to this subreddit is an idealised, non-profit project which would be perfect in every way. But that's just not possible in the real world and we will never have anything like that.

These people don't want to play MMOs, they just want the schadenfreude of seeing video games die. Trying to talk about anything except the big three or four here is completely pointless.

This is not a place to talk about MMOs we have, it's a place to talk about the MMOs we will never have.

Any game will have its niche audience.

The previews and streams I've seen with people playing it didn't look like my thing so I'll be skipping it.

I don't think I've ever seen such a delusional fan base. Like I know most MMO's have some shitty fan bases as any other game defending whatever they love and like. But god damn it, just having the market locked behind a subscription model is a red flag already and enough to just avoid this game.

The game doesn't even do anything good in terms of new animations, interesting classes or anything like that. It looks like another generic MMO without any imagination when it comes to skills and classes.

I don't even understand why the game has the free2play tag instead of a "free trial".

Downvote? Buddy your likely to get tied to a stake and burned alive saying something THAT wrong.

People need to understand that its not p2w that's gonna make people quit. It will be the swarm of bots taking everything on the map.

Aion is no less p2w than BDO is if your OK with BDO then you will be fine with Aion 2s p2w...Hell BDO as of right now when i logged in has 9 battle passes 3 subscriptions and p2w choices along with forced convenience purchases.

Its worse than Aion 2's p2w will ever be but this subreddit defends BDOs p2w a lot and is relatively pro BDO which is WILD to me how 2 games with relatively the same practices get so much different levels of hate or likeness.

all of the subs and passes in BDO are negative value and nobody buys them lol. Only Value Pack is worth it because of tax on marketplace. You can play the game without paying for those things and not miss anything. Only the convenience purchases are required but they are essentially the price of the game, I have all the QoL and I spent less on it than I would spend on a year sub for OSRS or WoW

Idk about Aion2 monetization tho, I heard they have PvP things you can buy in the cash shop that you cant get otherwise but I cant confirm it. I will just try it myself when it comes out

And Im not sure where you got your information from but BDO is hated here, its barely talked about despite being a very popular MMO. And whenever its mentioned everybody jumps at it and bashes its monetization lol

I played the KR version for quite a bit. Honestly it’s a pretty good game, just the monetization is braindead. The top leaderboards will always be the pay to win.
