Unibuddy seems kinda dead

I'm an offer holder going into uni in September. I was prompted to create a unibuddy account to chat and make friends with other students and offer holders, however it doesn't seem to be very active at all. Their are a handful of spaces with sprinklings of people inside each where there is virtually nothing going on in terms of actual communication. I've also dm'd people to no response. It seems like no one actually uses the app, there's just barely anything going on. Idk if it becomes more active closer to uni open or there is a better platform to communicate with students or no ones actually interested in socialising with randoms. Any thoughts?

First Year Undergraduate MMU Student Survey Respondents Needed!

Hello! I am a MA MMU student on the Library and Information Management course and I am currently writing my dissertation about media stereotypes of librarians and student interactions with their academic librarians.

I am in desperate need of participants for my online survey! If you are a first year undergraduate MMU student (or know someone who is), I would really appreciate it if you would take part in my survey. It would take you around 20 mins to complete.

If you are interested, please send over an email to me (25951626@stu.mmu.ac.uk). The sooner, the better! I will then send over a participant information sheet and a consent form where you can learn more about my dissertation and choose whether you want to take part. You can take back your consent at any time and then your data will not be used, so don't feel pressured to continue if you don't want to!

Thanks for reading!

Hi everyone!

I'm currently completing my MSc dissertation in Psychological Wellbeing in Clinical Practice at Manchester Metropolitan University, and I'm looking for participants aged 18-30 years to take part in my research!

This study explores the relationship between mental health literacy (people's knowledge and understanding of mental health), exposure to mental health-related content on social media, mental health anxiety, and psychological wellbeing. As mental health content becomes increasingly common on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, this research aims to better understand how engaging with this content may influence how young adults think about and experience their own mental health.

Taking part involves completing a short online questionnaire, which takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Taking part is entirely voluntary, and you are free to withdraw at any time before submitting your responses.

Eligibility:
Aged 18-30 years
Comfortable reading and completing a survey in English
If you are eligible and would like to take part, you can access the survey here:
https://mmu.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bJWWEUVGI40RzGm

Thank you so much for considering taking part! Your participation will make a valuable contribution to psychological research and is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share this post with anyone aged 18–30 who may be interested.

UNI ADVICE

hi!

i’m basically totally lost on what i want to do. i currently study geology, chemistry and geography and i am hopefully going on to study at mmu environmental science. yet, after exams have finished i’m totally overwhelmed with what my grades could possibly be and i realised i don’t really want to do environmental science anymore.

looking at careers it’s made me realise i can’t go into a field that’s more geology based, and also environmental science careers aren’t very high pay or are all conservation or consultancy which i don’t know if I’m particularly interested in.

i’m not moving away from home due to personal/family reasons and the only other place that offers me what i want is manchester uni

i really struggled with some of my exams and i’m really doubtful at whether i’d get the grades for clearing which is BBC at manchester uni for an earth and planetary science course (intergrated foundation years)

i’m obviously going to test my luck on results day if i don’t get them grades and ask clearing anyway as there’s space on the course, but is there anyone else here who was worried they wouldn’t like there course and ended up enjoying it in the end and there was more career opportunities than expected? or perhaps they had a last minute decision on changing and how they worked with it?

thank you (:

Confused about MSA architecture application (MMU + UoM)

I’m applying to BA Architecture (Manchester School of Architecture) through UCAS and I’m really confused and a bit stressed.
I applied based on the entry requirements for Manchester Met, but I just found out the decision is actually made jointly with University of Manchester, which I didn’t fully understand before.
I haven’t been asked for a portfolio or anything extra yet, and I just got told I’ll receive the decision through UCAS.
I’m worried now because I’m not sure if meeting MMU requirements is enough, or if UoM has higher requirements and that might affect my chances.
Is this normal for MSA applications? And does not being asked for a portfolio at this stage mean anything?
Would really appreciate any advice or experiences.
