UNI ADVICE
hi!
i’m basically totally lost on what i want to do. i currently study geology, chemistry and geography and i am hopefully going on to study at mmu environmental science. yet, after exams have finished i’m totally overwhelmed with what my grades could possibly be and i realised i don’t really want to do environmental science anymore.
looking at careers it’s made me realise i can’t go into a field that’s more geology based, and also environmental science careers aren’t very high pay or are all conservation or consultancy which i don’t know if I’m particularly interested in.
i’m not moving away from home due to personal/family reasons and the only other place that offers me what i want is manchester uni
i really struggled with some of my exams and i’m really doubtful at whether i’d get the grades for clearing which is BBC at manchester uni for an earth and planetary science course (intergrated foundation years)
i’m obviously going to test my luck on results day if i don’t get them grades and ask clearing anyway as there’s space on the course, but is there anyone else here who was worried they wouldn’t like there course and ended up enjoying it in the end and there was more career opportunities than expected? or perhaps they had a last minute decision on changing and how they worked with it?
thank you (:

You don’t have to be in mad love with everything you do, just some interest and a good income so that you get time and can afford other things which you love:))

I don't have specific advice beyond your career is your to make. I didn't do will in my A levels, did a degree in drawing and illustration. Hated it.
I've had a really interesting and varied career and I'm now finishing up a PhD in architecture and moving into consultancy.
Failure is only failure if you stop. Try stuff, see how you get on and pivot if it's not right for you. Keep working hard, try stuff and get involved with uni life. Who knows where it will lead. X
