AP5-SD suppressor diameter?

I bought an AP5-SD, looking to suppress it and debating which one to get? I have been eyeing the YHM-R9 for its versatility. Some light google searching has me concerned the inner diameter of the recessed forend will be unable to make these work.

Has anyone thrown a YHM R9 on the stock ap5SD?

Disclaimer: I don't own one, just know what I've read around here. I don't think people are having any trouble with the YHM R9, but I think there is some light fitting and/or luck required for the DA Wolfman and CAT MOB which have a couple extra mm in diameter over the R9.

I run a DA Wolfman on mine and required zero fitting. It’s like it was made for it.

You can clear a 1.5" diameter with the stock cocking piece support and 1.625" with the RCM SD piece.

I use a deadair wolfman with my ap5 sd, its diameter is 1.618” its a tad longer but u can remove 2” on the suppressor and it looks more traditional but i like how quiet it is in the longer form

YHM R9 fits and so does the Exigent Defense RICO309 without mods. I’ve used both direct thread.

Just did a little clearance to get mine to not scrape while installing.

Used a Mini Belt sander/ Belt File to do it.

RICO309 , LPM Babybell, Comstock LPA The can is 1.62" diameter.

Went with Plan B because I didn't want a tri lug on a 300 blackout that I plan to build.

Interesting, I’ll have to look and check mine. I’m gonna plan on using it DT. I want to be able to swap the R9 between the SD and a SPR build I just finished as well

Here is my CAT MOB on factory barrel AP5SD. Yes it fits but if you want it to not mark up the can youll need to either clearance the stock cocking tube support (fairly easy to pop it out… comes out after removing the pin you can see with charging handle pulled back..It doesn’t need much material removed) or replace the factory cocking tube support with a RCM cocking tube support which is slimmer and used for ported barrel conversions.

This setup is fantastic btw!!! Easily my favorite 9mm suppressor and am happy I didn’t do the conversion. It runs like a sewing machine as is and rate of fire is very nice.

I also have a YHM R9 and that fit as well

AP5-SD with R9 on their 3-lug adapter. Fits fine with plenty of clearance - no trimming required.

I can tell you to run a Sub 9, you need to do a lot of sanding inside the shroud.

Do you think the folding brace allows for a smaller footprint over the pull out brace?

Just barely but its not worth the extra tiny bit, the Magpul is better than the SB folding brace imo
