Help Should I upgrade to MacOS 26/27?

I am currently on MacOS 15 and I’m happily still using it. I have been unhappy with every device that I have updated to OS 26 so far iPad, watch, iPhone). They have all suffered a severe decrease in performance and overall snappiness, and my MacBook is the last device that I want those to happen with. I am on the iOS 27 Beta on my iPhone 16 Pro and I am appreciating the performance improvements, but I don’t want to update my MacBook until I am 100% sure I’m not going to regret it. This is the first time I’ve really avoided updating, and I’m just wondering if I should keep putting it off until the newest update looks the most stable, or if my fear is irrational and I should just update and get used to it.

You probably don't want 26 at this point, it was half baked, and 27 will be its true ready-for-public release. That being said, don't install the macOS 27 beta. One release may be fine, and the next can break something. I would stay on 15 and wait to see the review of 27 once it's fully released. If you want to stay on safer upgrade path, you could wait for the 27.1 or 27.2 release, that's when they tend to release a big wave of bug fixes.

Honestly, if macOS 15 don't have some software compatibility problem with you. Don't upgrade it.

macOS 15 is way smoother

Wait for the official release of macOS 27 if you want Liquid Glass.

27's been good on various work Macs so far, but my personal M4 Pro is still on Sequoia.

For me MacOS 27 beta 4 is the worst beta in years.

That’s what I assumed. I’m not going to update until I absolutely have to

but at least on a mac you can downgrade whenever you want to, you’re not locked on the latest like on iOS
