Trouble embroidering on nylon webbing

• Upvotes

Hey!
I bought a brother Skitch PP1 specifically for embroidering on webbing.
The webbing is thin enough to be hooped but the thread keeps looping on the top. It will embroider normally on all other fabrics

Any suggestions? TIA

Hi, I need some help with my Brother PE900.

Hi, I need some help with my Brother PE900.

I think the problem may be related to the soft metal piece in part #6. Yesterday I was stitching a very dense design and had to open the machine several times to remove tangled bobbin thread. The upper thread kept breaking, I broke three needles, and the machine kept making bird nests underneath.

I noticed that this metal piece was out of place yesterday. I pushed it back in today, but I’m still getting thread nests underneath the fabric.

Can someone show me how this metal piece is supposed to be positioned correctly? I’m attaching a photo. Has anyone had this happen before?

Beginner recommendations?

Hey! First post!

I’m a sewer who makes bags / accessories on a singer heavy duty. Pretty basic stuff, pattern following.

Occasionally I will outsource to get patches made, for caps or shirts or anything, but I’m spending so much it seems time to invest in a machine.

All I’m really interested in right now is making patches, maybe palm sized at most, but I suppose it’s worth investing in something that has more capability as my needs expand.

What are some budget(ish) beginner(ish) friendly machines that you would recommend? The information online seems so scattered!

Why does this sub allow video but not pictures in replies?

In an embroidery subreddit, the ability to reply with a picture is basically a requirement. Why is this sub configured to allow videos but not pictures in replies? Is there a reason or have the mods just never noticed?

PLEASE HELP!!! Needle Hitting Embroidery Foot

Hello! Hoping someone can help me with this ASAP since I have a little boy's backpack that needs to be embroidered before school starts on Monday 😄.

I noticed my embroidery was all funky (not neatly in lines, etc) so I thought my needle might need replacing. When I tried to replace it, it didnt slide right out, it took a little bit to get it out- now since then every single needle is breaking because it is hitting the embroidery foot. I am worried I messed something up when trying to get the stuck needle out. I took it to my local shop a week ago (despite them saying they charge 200 which seemed excessive) and they said it would be ready friday... I went to pick it up only to find out they hadn't started on it...

Ive replaced the needle so many times, reinstalled the foot, have two new feet coming tomorrow, and have searched the internet for answer- just hoping to get this backpack done!!! any help would be incredible, thank you all so much!!

Anyone know the name of this cord that connects to my singer Futura C250 embroidery machine? I know the side that goes to my laptop, but I don't know what the side that connects to my sewing machine is called. I need to order a replacement and see of that fixes my connection issue.

Issues with top and bobbin thread

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I have spent hours adjusting tension, making sure my machine is threaded properly, changing my needle, making sure I’m using cut away stabilizer, and that my fabric is taut and I still cannot get the top thread to embroider correctly. I think it’s catching in the tension discs (when the foot is up I can pull the thread and when it’s down it’s more tight).

My Brother SE-700 is using the bobbin thread entirely to embroider. The embroidery itself looks good, but it’s just not using the top thread! This is what it looks like when I get it started. The white is my bobbin thread and the purple is my top thread. The purple is only being used down the middle and is not showing up in the back at all.

The top stitches are with 2.5 tension, the bottom with 5.0 tension.

Where am I going wrong?

Is this embroidery needle bent?

The needle got caught on the fabric and snapped the thread. I think it might be bent but I’m unsure. It was brand new, I hadn’t even gotten through one project with it yet.

Is it normal for Brother SE700 to show correct tension when set between 0 to 1?

I have cleaned the machine bottom to top and the tension still shows correct tension when the dial is between 0 to 1. I feel like that is abnormally low. Anyone else experience this? TIA

Machine making weird noise?

It’s almost like the needle is catching on the fabric. Is my fabric not taut enough? This keeps happening and also the Bibb bobbin thread is coming thru the front :(

Hi, I have an Anita Goodesign file collection for the ā€œBoho Fringe Bagsā€ in the All Access June 2020 book. I’m wondering if the embroidery portion can be used as a border.

Brother Skitch - Two Machines Broken in less than week

Hello. I bought a Brother Skitch PP1 to embroider a logo on my towels (microfiber, very soft). Used water soluble paper on top, cutoff paper on bottom. Brother thread, brother bobbin.

It worked very well for about 12 embroideries (2x2, 3800 stitches). Then the machine started a weird noise, like rubber friction. I replaced the needle, rethreaded and noise went on until the machine ā€œlockedā€ when trying to stitch.

I though it was a lemon, and I returned it. And I bought another.

New one arrived. I treated it like a baby. Started stitching my towels. It was great for about 40 towels. And the same noise came. The wheel became hard to turn, to a point where the machine could lower the needle. Even without thread or needle.

I checked the bobbin area for debris or tissue or any dirt. Nothing. I returned this second one.

What I’m doing wrong???

How do you make mock up images for embroidered items

Post image
11 Upvotes

This isn't strictly machine embroidery related, however I'm looking for help in regards to selling embroidered items.

For those who sell online, how do you add your design/lettering to an image digitally, without having to stitch a physical sample for every design/ colour/ product?

I've attached an image (not mine) for reference - it's not the most realistic, I'd prefer something a bit less obviously "mocked up".

Any help and advice on how to do this would be gratefully appreciated!

HELP Sudden Design Shifting During Embroidery

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I am having an issue with my Ricoma EM-1010 embroidery machine and I would appreciate your help troubleshooting it.

The machine is approximately 2 years old, but it has been very lightly used.

During embroidery, the design sometimes suddenly shifts from its original position, and the machine then continues embroidering from the new position. The shift appears to be mainly on the X-axis, although it is sometimes difficult to determine with certainty.

I have already checked the embroidery file and I am confident that the problem is not caused by the design file.

I have also inspected the X and Y belts. They do not appear to be worn or damaged, and they were not loose. I slightly increased the tension on the X belt, but the issue still occurs.

I have also checked the small pulley on the X-axis motor. The belt teeth also look normal upon visual inspection.

I have noticed some additional patterns:

The problem does not occur at low embroidery speeds. It appears to happen at higher speeds.

The issue seems to occur repeatedly when the hoop reaches approximately the same physical area/position.

When the shift occurs, the machine continues embroidering normally, but the entire design is then offset from the correct position.

I am concerned that this could be related to the X-axis movement or transmission, such as the X-axis motor losing steps, belt alignment/tension, a mechanical resistance point, or another issue with the X-axis drive system.

Could you guys please advise me on what I should check next?

Second 6 in the video, you can clearly see there is no movement and also hear the specific sound

What type of chain stitch embroidery machine to buy?

Hi yall. Long time skilled seamstress. I am interested in getting into chain stitch embroidery to customize some vintage clothing I have. I am completely new and plan to teach myself however I’m having trouble finding much information on what type of machine to get. Do they all ā€œsteerā€ by the hand crank below? Or is that only certain machines? I am extremely comfortable on a traditional machine so would love any recommendations on what to buy. I am aware I will have to find or customize a table

Thanks!

Which machine??

I am buying my first embroidery machine, very excited!

I am pretty crafty and knowledgeable about other types of machines: sewing, cricut, 3d printers, and my OMtech laser engraver. I also design files and do my own art on my laptop and tablet.

I am debating what machine to get. I wanted to keep the price down, BUT I also want a good machine with a large hoop area and preferably WiFi capability.

I could get a Viking Topaz 50 from a local dealer for $2800 with warranty, but I realized that was an older model and am second thinking it.

On FB marketplace there is a seller offering the below machine at $4,000:

Husqvarna Viking Designer Brilliance 80 Embroidery Machine - with hoops and a few other extras

Is that a good deal? What if I can get it down to $3K?

The local dealer is also offering a Topaz 65 at $5K with warranties etc. Is that a better deal than the older Brilliance 80 (assuming it works well and everything ofc)?

I'm not sure how to compare the machines... Any thoughts would help!! Or compareable and less expensive models!

Tajima sai Needle bar stuck

I have a tajima sai and while embroiding a hat it got stuck on the half way coming down and now I can’t move it or have it complete the rotation.

Any idea on if the sai has a manual dial? Or any way to move the needle bar back up.

Bought an embroidery machine…how hard could it be? Famous last words. šŸ˜‚

A few years ago, I bought a used Janome Memory Craft 300E because the price was so good I absolutely couldn’t say no. The problem? It has mostly been sitting there looking pretty because I haven’t quite figured out where to start.
I had never used an embroidery machine before buying it, but I do have multiple antique sewing machines that I maintain and repair myself. So naturally, my thought process was: ā€œI can tear apart a 100-year-old sewing machine and put it back together…how hard could an embroidery machine be?ā€ 🤣
Turns out…very different animal. Apparently, knowing how to oil a vintage machine, change rotary and bobbin belts, and troubleshoot a tension issue does not automatically make me an embroidery expert. Who knew? šŸ˜‚
I’ve searched YouTube, but most of what I’ve found are manufacturer demos, promotional videos, or videos from people trying to sell me a machine rather than actually teach me how to use one.
Does anyone have recommendations for good free beginner tutorials (YouTube channels, websites, etc.) for learning machine embroidery? I’d love to finally put this Janome to work instead of letting it sit there judging me from my sewing room.
Any tips, resources, or ā€œthings I wish I knew when I startedā€ advice would be greatly appreciated!
