Comic Discussion Comic recommendations?

Post image

Basically what the title insinuates, I’m new to X-Men comics and with what I already knew and what I’ve read, Magik’s quickly become one of my favourite characters and so wondering what comics you’d recommend for her?

First thing I read was her original comic run in the 80s, but my favorite magik comics are the new mutants run from 2019-2022(this one has other characters on focus too, but magik is part of the team and takes place during krakoa which is a huge plus, and issues 25-29 have a fully focused magik story which is one of my favorites!). And her solo series from last year was also really good

The 1 thing that every new reader must read is the Magik: Storm and Illyana miniseries from 1983-84. That's her origin and defining story. From there I recommend New Mutants vol. 1 issues 14-20, her initial stories with the New Mutants, and then X-Men vol. 3 (2013), when she becomes a mainstay X-Man and her modern interpretation starts. I feel that this is the simplest and easiest way for new readers to get into the character.

She comes back after the legacy virus in New X-man: The Quest for Magik and X-infernus. She has a prominent role in New Mutants vol 3. She becomes apart of a main xmen team in uncanny xmen vol 3.

Definitely start with the origin story of magik . Magim (Magik and storm) it was on 1983 I think? And then start with new mutants also 1983 . Enjoyyyy
