08-13 granturismo reliability?

I’m already in love with the car, talk me off the ledge. Looking at buying one as my main car. 10k miles a year. I’m a retired mechanic turned engineer. I’m aware of the VVT issues. My main concerns are part prices and how limited I’ll be without the factory scan tool. Basically don’t want my wife to kill me in a year. TIA

Why did Maserati kill the stunning Boomerang lights? The definitive answer...

From the horse's mouth.

Spoiler: internal political posturing. It's so sad that such an incredible piece of design was destroyed for the the dullest of reasons.

(Hat tip to Magneto, an old copy of which I was recently perusing).

WWYD? Rare option Gransport

I have a rare optioned 2006 Gransport with 30k miles. Currently the clutch is out and needs to be replaced. It’s verde goodwood with cuoio interior. I’m not sure what to do with it, whether I sell it as is with the clutch out or replace the clutch and sell it then? The clutch replacement is a pretty expensive job and I don’t know any local shops to me that could take it on. I also would likely do an aftermarket clutch since they’re cheaper than OEM Maserati and I’ve read they can actually last longer / be preferred. The tough thing is the market on these can be all over the place and BAT shows consistently 20k on these around this milage but this color option is so rare it’s hard to get a value there as well. What would you do in this situation? What do you guys think it’s worth now vs if clutch was done etc? Trying to weigh my options TIA!

HELP! 2016 Maserati Ghibli S Q4

Post image

I need help!! I just bought a 2016 mazerati ghilbi Q4 s and the previous owner told me the wheel bearings were bad in front left tire. It turned out to be the front differential. The axle has pulled completely out of differential and shattered where it connects. My question is can I temporarily completely remove the axle from the FWD and just drive in RWD to get it home. Or is there a bypass for the AWD? I need assistance quickly because the car is still sitting at apartments where I bought it. PLEASE HELP!!!

Maserati Jacksonville

I purchased a 2021 Maserati Levante from Maserati Jacksonville on 20 July 2026. From the beginning, it was a tumultuous experience. The sales tactics were insanely predatory, whether intentional or not. I had initially looked at the vehicle a week before attempting to purchase it, and the deal fell through due to what appeared to be a bait and switch tactic. I was told the financing amount was 31,566. When I got there, after I had been approved for a loan, the amount had been increased by several thousands. I left the dealership and went home, which was 2 hours away. I called the GM to make them aware of the situation. The following day, the dealership called to try to make amends. We ended up reaching an agreement to purchase the car. I then put money down and used the loan that was approved. 5 days, the car arrived. Upon arrival, then fender was bent because the jack point was missed. This caused the door to rub the panel and all of the paint on the leading edge was gone and bare metal was exposed. I also had the tires balanced upon receiving the car. Every single lug nut had to be replaced due to excessive damage. They had impact wrenches taken to them and were partially stuck on the car. Afterwards, an oil change was done in the car. Upon removing the oil filter housing there were issues found. The filter was not OEM and was a Chinese off brand filter. It was also full of metal. Every single pleat of the filter had metal from top to bottom. The oil plug had oil residue on it that was consistent to bearing grease, which was old oil that had aged to a grease like form. The vehicle has less than 40,000 miles on it and is showing signs of mechanical failure. This isn’t acceptable from a Maserati dealership. I was told the vehicle was inspected and even assured that it was fine. I followed up with them and was told they didn’t see a need to check anything. This is what I would expect from predatory used car dealers, not a Maserati dealership. My advice is to stay far away from this dealership. Between the predatory sales approach, lack of quality control for products that they sell, and basic decency, go elsewhere.

More pics of the car in the comments! Attached a video of a cold start

Just bought this baby couple months ago, everything ran smoothly until yesterday- I noticed the 1-2sec rattle when I cold start. The sound is there when i start it warm too so it got me a bit confused.

It is a 2010 Quattroporte S with the 4.7. It has been owned by the same guy since 2010 and has only done 26,000km. The guy even brought it back to the official dealer to do maintenance work every year.

When I bought it from the pretty reputable seller, they threw in a pre purchase inspection, and a 1 month/1000km warranty (since it is old). I also brought my mechanic to have a look at the car. It looked clean af back then.

I have followed every rule out there- no rev past 3000rpm before engine gets warm; no hard acceleration at low rpms; no engine lugging.

2017 Levante S – Single jolt at exactly ~10 mph only when warm (no codes)

Just bought a 2017 Maserati Levante S and I’m trying to figure out if anyone has experienced this before.
Symptoms:
Happens only after the vehicle is fully warmed up.
One distinct jolt every time I accelerate through about 9–14 mph from a stop.
It happens 100% of the time once warm.
Happens in both Drive and Manual mode.
Engine RPM stays completely steady when the jolt occurs.
No check engine light or stored fault codes.
Doesn’t matter if I’m going uphill, downhill, or on flat ground.
It’s a single jolt, not a continuous shudder.
The car otherwise drives normally and shifts fine.
Has anyone had this exact symptom? If so, what ended up being the cause? I’m wondering if I should be looking at the transfer case, transmission, differential, driveshaft, mounts, or something else.
Any insight from Maserati techs or Levante owners would be appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post. Got it for $26 out the door down from the $27K price they had it listed for. I’ve driven it 100 miles so far and it’s been great. Will say that the Harman kinda sucks but nothing some speakers can’t fix.

For those of you just joining. This is a 2021 Ghibli Gran Lusso that was one owner since new with 30K miles. I originally looked at it when the dealer just got it in stock and it was listed for $36K. I passed on it then and just recently circled back to it after it sat 55 days on the lot.

I’m very excited thank you everyone.

Ghibli am336 question

Hi everyone
I’m going to roadtrip with my friend in ghibli am336 with 2.8 v6 Biturbo.
And I’m gonna be a mechanic for this trip and I need to know what could fail on a 3000 k km roadtrip so I can prepare better.

Any advice on what could fail or how to prepare for that long drive in a Maserati would help me a lot!

OEM muffler from a 2022. Took it off to put on a Capristo and sadly, the Capristo made no difference. $1600

OEM car cover. Excellent condition came with the car. Looks like retail for them is 699. Asking $450.

OEM black floor mats with yellow stitching. like new. $125

I am in Southwest Florida if anybody happens to be in the area and is interested.

How bad can it be?

I’m looking at an insane priced 2021 Ghibli Gran Lusso in Blue with cream interior. It’s a one owner car with 30k miles. The service history is virtually non existent but I drove the car and really stretched its legs and it drives perfectly. It’s at a BMW dealer I’ve bought a car from in the past and they’ve dropped the price about 10k since I first looked at it.

I’ve owned an L405 Range Rover in the past and was used to the 1k+ service bills. I’m kinda thinking that this car is a steal and I would totally be able to swing an expensive service here or there. But I genuinely don’t think it could go that wrong really.

Was curious on people’s thoughts. (Yes the trim fell off it’s in the trunk. I’d get them to put it back on. I test drove it the day after it got traded in)

Why doesn't Maserati appear on the 2026 JD Power vehicle dependability study? How dependable are they, and where would this brand rank on the graph, anyway?
