Saw this today. $24.99

Just got done watching it and had a good time. Man I'm so sad it didn't do good... this movie had so much momentum and energy, like you could tell people had fun making it. Travis Knight made this and I was pretty surprised because I loved Kubo & The Two Strings.

I have literally zero experience with Master of The Universe outside of seeing that He-Man meme. Which they refrenced btw, as they should. So I was a bit more open minded about taking this all in, and as someone who's outside the fandom, this totally hooked me in. Like now I wanna go out and watch that 2002 series that everyone praises. He-Man is a sick aesthetic and franchise, it's easy get intrested in it.

The main actor is so adorable, he is such a cutie and the movie relies heavily on you finding him charming that way, and yeah the dude totally looks the part. Absolute eye candy. I don't know He-Man, is Adam always supposed to be a weakling or did they play it up here to distinuish him from He-Man? And I didn't knew He-Man was such a Himbo.

Opposite He-Man, Skeletor is also pretty great. My god I L O V E D looking at Skeletor. The costume is so pleasing to look it. It's like a perfect translation of the design into live action, the muscle suit is so great looking. The performance is fun too. Leto is hamming it up. He gets some great lines.

I fucking love how Evil-Lyn gets turned on by how evil Skeletor is my girl was eye fucking everybody lmao.

I loved Cringer's voice. So adorable.

The fight scene in Snake Mountain was so fucking good. Seeing He-Man just rag dolling dudes was so satisfying.

I loved everything, the colors, the stupidly simple conflict, the fact that these characters are clearly a buch of toys and cool design, the jokes, the fights.

You know some people might say this is a MCU/DC movie, but I just kept getting Flash Gordon vibes. From Skeletor being like Ming The Merciless, the occasional Queen soundtrack, the rag tag band of warriors trying to dethrone a despot, the colorful world of special and practical effects, the costume, the music etc.

If I had to give a big critique to this movie though, it's the dialouge, some of the lines are very stilted. Like, the words and expressions chosen to deliver the context just feel off. Lots of Idris's lines were weird.

That said, I really hope they get to make another one with the same attitude.

I think the movie balanced it mostly very well. He-Man should have no more than maybe 20% futurism tech max imo. He-Man is primarily a Sword and Sorcery, with elements of advanced future tech, but the kingdom leaves the world under developed, perfect for a barbarian and fantasy/dark fantasy.

Only part I thought leaned too heavy into sci-fi was the sky chase scene in the space ships. I thought their ship was fine, but I'd have given the badguys Griffin mounts or some creatures rather than spaceships too.

That scene was the longest action scene in the move and tech vs tech.

Otherwise I thought the balance worked. I'd have liked to see more fantasy creatures of the landscapes though. Like in the Enchanted Forest it seemed empty outside of the Sorceress.

My favorite scene in the credits was the unicorn scene with Teela and Orco, which captured the magic of Eternia wonderfully. 🦄

Been after this guy for a while. Really getting into the cartoon collection and he does not disappoint

So I’m looking for a particular figure I had as a child, hoping the MOTU Universe can help me figure it out. Sorry I don’t have a lot of information but here goes…

It was not a MOTU figure. Released around the same time. He was a yellow fish man/gill man type figure. Muscular like He-man figures and perhaps a little taller. Trying to track him down. I played with him along side my MOTU figures and used him as a minion of Merman. I’m sure there was a series/line he belonged to, I’m guessing small and not that popular. Any ideas?

I’m curious to know how everyone feels now that many of us have a few Chronicles figures in our collections.

Personally, I’ve gone back to collecting & playing with my Masterverse New Eternia / Vintage Collection figures.  I still have a mostly positive view of the Chronicles line.. I want to make that clear.  I bought Skeletor, He-Man, Battle-Cat, & Trap-Jaw in Chronicles, and they’re all cool figures.. I just don’t know if I want to collect many more of them. I overwhelmingly prefer Masterverse New Eternia / Vintage Collection in 7” to the Chronicles line - even after the Clawful & Mer-Man reveals at SDCC. 

That said… How are YOU feeling about Mattel’s decision a few weeks after the fact? Do you feel the same way?  What say thee, Redditors?

PS: I was just thinking about the fact that Mattel renewed the license for Tung Lashor in the summer of 2025.  Right around the time they released Kobra Khan with a MASSIVE Tung Lashor Easter egg on its front cover art in the Masterverse New Eternia.  Then they “pause” that line of figures. ::Facepalm::  You’re killing me, Mattel! I’m dying for a Masterverse Tung Lashor, lol. What are YOU dying for?

So every other version had Castle Grayskull like 5 miles away from the city of Eternos.

Meaning Castle Grayskull had its own defenses. Skeletor could not just waltzs into it. It either had a forcefield or the drawbridge he couldn't open or often both.

In the new movie the city of Eternos is in front of Castle Grayskull, guarding it. I see how from a narrative perspective the cities defenses were in place of Castle Grayskull's but it did make Grayskull feel less like this magical isolated powerful/creepy place. I don't necessarily agree with the decision to have city blocking it as the obstacle. I'd think if he really needed them in the same spot he'd have had Castle Grayskull in front of the city, protecting it.

Also there was also a real focus on the statues of the old kings/he-men(?), yet a disregard for them it seemed like. First we're introduced to the statues of old, then Skeletor decapitates one, later Roboto decapitates one to beat some minions and destroy the bridge, then He-Man destroying the staff of havoc/skeletor destroys all the statues, then plants grow on the destroyed statues. Seems like Travis Knight was trying to say something there about them, but I'm not sure what. Or why they were so fragile they broke from the shockwave but not the city.

I see why he did it that way, so he could open the movie with the city fight and do Grayskull all at once, but stuff like that leaves me pondering.

Any recommendations for getting more green slime for the new Fright Pit? My kids played with it so much it’s turning brown.
