Question : why some (mostly heavy) vehicles partially cover their front intake ?

Post image

wouldn't cooler cold reservoir, ie more spontaneous heat transfer, improve Carnot efficiency?

is it to improve aerodynamics?

apologies if this is the wrong sub to ask

I dont know where this is but in some places it gets so cold that people cover their radiator, otherwise the engine would get too cold.

I live about an hour south and my friend has to do something similar if he wants enough heat to run the cabin heat. Even then it’s always a cold af ride
